Just bought this at Amoeba the other day, it was $5.99 used. I said, “I’ll break a ten for that!” I have to say it’s pretty good. I like it alot better than the S/T Jesu. Except for the last track, the whole cd is good. whereas with S/T i only really dug one track. Definitely mood music. He certainly paints emotions with his noise. I think Silver will get more spins than than S/T.
Final summary, For Jizzy
Pretty good, Justin’s no “Gerardo,” but, you know, he’s ok. I don’t cringe the way I do when country music comes on.[:P]

Yeah Silvers cool…Heart Ache is the best Jesu release as far as i’m concerned though. The song Ruined is the most beautiful, heaviest and DEVASTATING song ever written.
I just scored the Japanese version of Conqueror which features Sunrise/Sundown on a 2nd disc! I now have the entire Jesu output except the new split as far as i know???
Silver is my favorite Jesu release. I dig every single track. Wolves is a killer emotive song, and the original beats mix on the Japanese release is slightly better imo, so you should check that out.
Heartache is good, buy I can’t sit through half hour songs very often. Short attention spa
Just bought Godflesh’s ‘Messiah’ lp off ebay - pretty cheap too!
Great album - had never heard it before. The remixes are choice…better than the originals.
Only problem is that when I finally got it in the mail, I noticed there were fricken seam splits on the packaging, which kinda nullifies the whole ‘mint condition’ thing, which was one of the reasons I bought it in the first place. That’s the trouble with buying rekkids off ebay - the possibility of damage while in transit!
Anyway, yeah…‘Silver’ is indeed a great album - and the final track is AWESOME grmpy…what the hell have you been smoking?? Still debating whether or not I should buy ‘Pale Sketches’ or not as it is quite expensive and friends of mine have complained that it is WAAAY too “poppy”.

I bought a few vinyls off of ebay and it would seem that Records always get “damaged in transit” or when you call the sellers on the whole “mint” listing they will tell you that the mint applies to the “Vinyl ONLY” with out disclosing that on the listing.
The bubble wrap packaging combined with the carboard inside the actual packing box that most sellers use to send vinyls pretty much elliminates the spine splits. so if your vinyl was sent in that type of packaging I would be willing to bet they were split before the person sold it to you.
Anyway, yeah…‘Silver’ is indeed a great album - and the final track is AWESOME grmpy…what the hell have you been smoking??
I could only make it through about the first minute or so. The sound was too robotic, like he just recorded the sample off of an old casio pocket keyboard. perhaps the sound changes later in the song but upon first listen i ended the cd short based on that song.

certainly was. I’m absolutely digging this album tonight! what gives this disc such an appeal is that I’m sure this sound will take on a completely different feel if I listened to in the daytime or depending on which season you listen to it (ie nightime in the winter would be different from now)
It’s like discovering a new Quasar.
some of his instrumentals certainly feel that way. actually, i would go so far as to say it’s like witnessing the birth of quasars/galaxies/suns from your spaceship that you are alone on.
There is alot of lonliness in his songs (can’t get much lonlier than being in space by yourself quadrillions of lightyears away from any civilization!) but it’s not emo attention seeking lonliness. There’s beauty in it. I still can’t put my finger on it but it certainly is some of your NON run of the mill music. I can see someone getting so completely lost in themselves while this disc is spinning. Them mixing memories of thoughts that they haven’t thought of since they were little kids, combined with memories that don’t exist, from places they have never been!
We’ve been pretty cordial to each other for a while now Jizzy, but I will take it a smidgen farther and tip my hat to you, sir. you certainly have championed a ‘Silver’ nugget around here. Jesu’s ‘silver’ has indeed lived up to your hype.
and the final track is AWESOME grmpy…
You are indeed right sir. I take back my statement. All one needs to do is listen to it in the right context.
Thanks for the find.

BTW I’ve listened to this CD three straight times tonight and probably go on a forth or fifth, The only thing that would have made this better is if were raining outside!
You are right, the payoff is in the last half of the song but put in context the song doesn’t sound as bad as I previously written. Plus the last half just makes it that much better

Yeah i reckon the first section of the Wall-E film should’ve had a Jesu soundtrack.
Still debating whether or not I should buy ‘Pale Sketches’ or not as it is quite expensive
Pale Sketches is awesome. And it’s NOT expensive? Just buy it direct from Justin’s Avalanche Store and you won’t get ripped off. I believe it’s £12.99 inc postage.
That’s $25 bucks here in the US. To give you and idea most CD’s here in the states run anywhere from $10.99 to $14.99. That’s ridiculously expensive for a CD! I’m going to my local bestbuy right now to see if they have any JESU. I’m fuckin’ hooked. I think this guy uses Subliminal messaging in his work! [:)]

So I’m relistening to the s/t cd. My initial reaction is the same but i can see “walk on water” being part of the silver CD. still a really good tune if not better now that I can context it.
I’m only up to “walk on water” so far. but the first several tracks were nothing special compared to “silver” IMHO
