Crystal Castles have been accused of stealing music (by abusing creative commons licenses) for their own songs.
John Fogerty actually got sued by his former record label (the one he was with during CCR days) after he went solo (and went to a different label). His previous record label sued him for infringment because one of his solo songs had a similar riff as a CCR song. i forget the outcome, sorry. i think he got off tho.
crystal castles? i hated that game.
the first band i heard of that sampled video games was mindless self indulgence. the “Frankenstein Girls…” is a great album!! although after hearing crystal castles song they’re no where near the same type of music…CC actually sounds like video game music

One of my buddies actually has a Crystal Castles cabinet in perfect working condition. Paid like 150 bucks. for it! Venture was WAAAAAAAY rad!! I never played it in the arcade that was definitely among my favorites in terms of Atari 2600

There’s no flame there! I’ve played all of those games on emulators. Parents were to cheap to pay for the colecovision and since I was in first or second grade I was pretty much SOL! The little cabbage patch kids game was pretty fun too! The commercial I remember Vividly from TV was when they were advertising the whole unit and they were rattling off all of the arcade games you could play for it and they emphasize “FRONTLINE” I’m so pissed that game hasn’t come out on any best of collections!
too bad coleco went out of business clearly a gaming console ahead of it’s time.
You know how bad ass Colecovision was? they even had a version of dragons lair that looked pretty accurate to original game. obviously the graphics are no where near as good but the game play seems the same! incredible!

Jizz is right Venture is the shit!!! It may have been a bit crude, but what a cool game. I still have my Colecovision, and Intellivision somewhere have to dig em out and see if they still work. So many great games on those systems. B-17 Bomber with the intellivoice was awesome, the southern accents of the crew members alone was priceless.
i had a coleco. smurfs. donkey kong. zaxxon. loved it.
I remember Super Zaxxon, wasn’t the end boss a space dragon as opposed to the super robot in Zaxxon? I love the isometric view its something they don’t use very often, the Desert Strike series of the '90s comes to mind.
I didn’t wanna bump this but it’s fitting since the newest album was released the other day.
It’s terrible.
Crystal Castles was a badass game!
Marble Madness ruled too!
I liked any game, actually, that used a trackball.

Is it?? Dang. I’m a big Crystal Castles fan. They sure took their sweet ass time releasing it.
I get the feeling that it’s just going to continue to be diminishing returns from them. Peaked on the first LP. Like, say, Bloc Party.
I’ve not read the article so I don’t know the case details or the specifics regarding their supposed infractions, but I just listened through a couple of their tracks. Just seems like retarded generic disco music to me. No more or no less of a rip off of or copy than all the other generic pop dance songs from the last 10-15 years.
i wake up to this song every morning

I was reading the comments and someone mentioned that the “original” song was Sex City / Van She.
I definitely would rather listen to this track as it’s got an actual band playing instruments (pretty badass bass groove too).

I’ll just never really get the attraction of the “electronic” genre to begin with, though, so I’m probably not the most objective on the topic.
