Sex-o Olympico

apparently, it’s leaked already. it has another “mix” of “keys to the city” with different lyrics. anyway, it has a bit softer sounding but it’s “cocked and loaded” all over again. as guitarsh as “cover up” too.

yea. i agree. the record is a total shit salad.

I though Al said it was the best record he’s ever done?

Al played me like a wee ho ma honky!

So, there’s a Ministry and RevCo version of Keys? Ugh, bad times two, if you ask me. Still, I’ll look for this thing when I get home, and confirm my suspicions. I’m not at all surprised that it’s similar to C&L. Never tell your fans “This is the best thing I’ve ever done.” That’s for the fans to decide. Thanks Gila.

yeah he also said same thing about cocked’n’loaded.

i dunno. i fail to see and understand how mediocre butt-rock without any catchy hooks/riffs and with amazingly stupid lyrics can be considered good music. i mean, listen to these lyrics, it’s all “prunetang” stuff again.

why oh why?

I’m not expecting much, but i’m getting it now. Feel obligated to at least give it a shot. Cocked and Loaded was terrible as a whole, but had it’s moments (anything that Gibby touched, and Fire Engine). Cover Up was blegh as well, but again, it had it’s moments. I was expecting guitar since I wasn’t sure if Sin plays any other instruments or not other than the guitar. My only hope for this album is that it’s at least better than the last. Gibby was the only good thing about Cnl, and this one’s without. I wasn’t too thrilled with the tracks i’ve heard before, so i’m hoping it at least has “moments”.

Ministry and Revco are the only bands that I actually feel good about downloading their stuff with no intention of buying.

That’s a terrible thing to say, but it’s sadly the same case for me. I’ve been so disappointed and put off by anything Al touches or has done, that I haven’t given a single cent since 05’. I think it’s a matter that despite the cristisms for setlists and direction, that Al either blows it off completely, or lies his ass off. And the last time I ever really felt bad for downloading ministry was when RGB leaked, and that didn’t last too long at all. So by the time TLS came out, I was already in “save your money and download the fucker” phase.

I wish I had two more hands, I’d give those titties four thumbs down…the milk’s gone bad!

Ok, it’s not the old RevCo anymore, I accepted that with the last album. It’s marginally better than C&L, I suppose. I got to thinking, if Wax Trax was still around, this band would probably be on the label. It would be one of the ‘not-so-great’ Wax Trax releases. It’s clear that Al was trying to recapture some elements of old Revco (a few old drum samples, the rhythm in ‘Lewd Ferrigno’, a more electronic feel overall). Unfortunately, it’s a classic case of style over substance. There are some good sounds on the album, but the songs just aren’t very good. I don’t care for the vocals at all. Part of old RevCo’s appeal was hearing the distinct voices of Connelly, Acker, and Ogre. The vocals here aren’t very interesting, and the annoying harmonies make them sound like a bad metal band.

Best track on the album is “Abundant Redundancy”, and even that song has its flaws (the chorus, which seems to be the weak point in every one of these songs). “I’m Not Gay” and “Keys To The City (Vegas Mix)” get my vote for worst offender. I don’t think I can bring myself to go see this band live if there are no guest appearances from the old crew. Some of you may like this new sound, but it’s not for me.

Listened through the entire thing now, and I think it’s easily a superior album compared to cocked. That’s not saying much though. My first impression though is that, by any means this isn’t an amazing album. But there’s some interesting stuff going on here though. Not digging Hookerbot, and could probably prefer I’m Not Gay over that. The album as a whole isn’t exactly bad, but nothing great either; very generic. I’ll give this more listens, but i’m actually not hating this as much as I expected.

speaking of Chris and Ogre, I’ve been spinning the 3 PTP tracks a lot lately. I didn’t really care for this when I first picked it up years ago, but glad I did. ‘Spine’ might actually be worth springing for ‘Side Trax’ to me now. =/

I hear these lyrics to “Keys to The City”

“And I’m a black rainbow
And I’m an ape of god
I got a face that’s made for violence and porn”

Disposabel teens
Very Marilyn Manson-ish
Late,

oh god.

‘Lewd Ferrigno’

Best song title ever. Think I’ll actually snag the bitch. Digitally, mind you. [;)]

Thanks for the heads-up, Gila.

Even if the album’s bad, it can’t be worse than these circle jerk hate threads.

“I heard the new RevCo sucks.”
“No big surprise, everything Al does sucks.”
“I hate Al.”
“Yeah, he sucks.”
“RevCo sucks.”
“Why can’t it be 1989 forever?”
“I hate Al.”
etc. etc.

“Why can’t it be 1989 forever?”

Bahahahahahahaha. Thank you for making me lol.

I am trembling with anticipation.

i gave it a once over: not as bad as i was fearing, actually.

i mean, it’s still bugs me that it’s “RevCo” but overall i’d say i dig it more than cocked and loaded. it’s like a mediocre stayte record moreso than revco.

but yeah, “revco”? i dunno about that.

I’d give it a “not bad” on my first listen.

You know what… after giving the leak a few listens, I must say… (prepare for Hell freezing over)

It’s good. I’m actually going to pick up the physical copy.

[shocked]!!!

I know, right? SHOCKING.

I think the only problem I have with this record (aside from “Keys to the City,” which I still can’t stand) is the fact that it has the RevCo moniker on it. That aside, I actually dig this thang. It’s a pretty solid album, as far as trashy, campy lyrics and guitar-driven dance music go.

Heh… I couldn’t help thinking this would be a more proper Thrill Kill Kult release than a RevCo one.

Seriously, take TKK, throw in some RGB-TLS Ministry, and add a dash of Latter-Day Utah Saints (HAH! see what I did there?) and you’ve got Sexo Olympico.

Not a good RevCo album at ALL, but it does what it does, and it does it well. [cool]

Best tracks:

HookerBot3000
Robo Banditos (“So we can get borracho!”)
Touch Screen
Lewd Ferrigno (CHEESIEST mothafuckin’ track on the disc)

Also, whomever’s handling the vox on the album is doing a hell of a job.

That’s Josh Bradford of Stayte, who (thankfully) replaced Stevie Banch who (sadly) replaced Chris Connelly (who historically replaced Richard 23) for the last RevCo tour.
