I either watched part of it or a promo. It’s a stop frame animation project, right? I remember feeling like whatever I watched should have got me MORE excited for it but I was kinda bonerkilled. Let me know how it goes. I love stop frame animation, but generally think it works best in short pieces or enhancements to other features (hats off to Harryhausen!).
One film that went under the radar in the 80’s and/or went over like a lead balloon was ADVENTURES OF MARK TWAIN. Goddamn, I love that movie.
From a visual standpoint I thought Mad God was pretty mind blowing…it’s a film that has been being produced for the last 30 years…it’s pretty awe-inspiring stuff…if you are looking for a coherent plot you might want to look elsewhere but from an FX aspect, just incredible…
I’ve never seen a full length stop motion movie before, so feel it might be a bit of an endurance test getting through it but still excited to see it for the insane artistry alone
You know I did see that I just forgot about it after that terrible James and the Giant Peach movie came out and make me erase memory of them both from my mind. I thought Nightmare was cute, but James played in the same stylistic pool and kept pissing until the whole pool was yellow and I never wanted to go back.
This is GWAR…this was soooo fucking good, man…this is the way a doc should be done…doesn’t even matter if you are a fan or not this was excellent and surprisingly touching too…its a deep dive into the bands history but also a great example of a bunch of hard working people who really care for one another and their fans…highly recommend this one…
Yeah I do…Canadian production…many describe it as a low rent Heavy Metal but I think it stands on its own as an entertaining piece of early 80s animation with cool music…I have an old out of print DVD of it…
I saw “Nope” a couple days back. It was not bad. The exposition was crazy long but it was not bad. I wouldn’t say its a multiple viewings movie but if you got time to kill or are on a date with your significant other its not a bore.
I caught one on a plane sort of recently and even though I was unfamiliar with the series and had no idea of the backstory, plot, etc., the stunts and fights and violence were all so beautifully composed that it was still really fun to watch. I’d definitely like it on a screen larger than 8" wide.
