Seen any good movies lately?

I just looked this up, I can’t find anything current… Do you have a link?

Ahhh sorry grmps…just realized it was a season 2 headline but a season 1 article…sometimes I graze through shit a bit too fast…I got click baited…never mind,carry on…

He, He no worries, man.

I’m surprised you didn’t like The Invisible Man…I thought it was great…have you seen Upgrade by the same director…that was my hands down favorite from 2018…

The John Wick movies are fucking awesome…action done right…

The Invisible Man…I thought there was such bad acting but it did stick to the book. Yeah…hated it.

I’ll look into upgrade.

Damn i had a totally different reaction…thought the acting was great…oh well…you should definitely check out Upgrade though…really killer flick…

I watched Ford V Ferrari…pretty good for what it was…a lot of stuff I didn’t know about…Bale was as great as usual…

Just saw a Korean zombie movie on Netflix called “Train To Bhusan.” Amazing. Already one of my favorite zombie movies. It just doesn’t let up.

Just finished watching Train to Bhusan…Epic…I really enjoyed that movie.

Right?! Fucking amazing. They already made an “equal” (i.e. not a train movie but set in the same universe) called “Peninsula,” I think it comes out next month. We’ll see if it’s anywhere as good as this one.

Ever seen “The Platform”?

The Platform is fucking awesome!

It was heavy-handed and difficult to watch – I definitely don’t have the stamina for a re-watch – but yeah, it was fucking awesome.

Yeah it was a tough watch but well worth it…I’ve been watching Jodorowsky films so I’ve been knee deep in tough viewing haha…

Thanks guys…watched The Platfom. I liked it a lot…a little bit of drama based but the concept was really interesting.

Ozark…fuckin awesome.

Midsommar is a mind-blowing new take on the horror genre. Psychedelic, cinematic, Swedish pagan daymare.

I love that movie (Midsommar). What a slow burn. I never thought I’d be impressed with the cinematography in a horror film (“The Shining” notwithstanding), but wow. And that final shot has to be seen to be believed.

I started watching this at the advice of a few coworkers. Great show. I’ve seen the first season to this point. jason bateman is great in this.

I finally broke down and started this show too. Pretty good. Almost finished with S1.

Newer movies:

The Invisible Man - liked it, a little predictable, but better than I expected
Get Out - I thought it was good, Jordan Peel has the potential to be a good filmmaker
Us - Eh, kinda liked it the first time, watched it again with guests in town, didn’t like it as much
Knives Out - Decent, but the family has to be really stupid for the movie to happen
Rocketman - I checked out with the opening musical number, this movie really annoyed me
The Assistant - A very slow, uninteresting movie, felt like an indie flick with no point. With Julia Garner (Ozark)

I am currently binging '80s schlock during my work days at home. I loaded up my Prime Video watchlist, and have been knocking out a couple of films a day. Here’s what I’ve watched so far:

Streetwalkin’ (1985) 👍
A runaway hooker deals with street life and an abusive pimp. Starring a very young Melissa Leo, who looks more like Penelope Ann Miller than a prostitute.

Ninja III: The Domination (1984) 👍
Aerobics instructor possessed by an evil ninja spirit, filmed in AZ at some recognizable locations! Good flick.

Vendetta (1986) 👍
A stuntwoman gets herself imprisoned to avenge the death of her innocent inmate sister. If you can get past the sight of Napoleon Dynamite’s aunt’s ta-tas (a younger Sandy Martin) in one scene, it’s a good watch.

Spiker (1986) 👎
Volleyball players train for the U.S. Olympic Team, this one was hard to finish. Poor film quality, unknown actors, predictable plot lines.

Stripped To Kill (1987) 👍
A female cop goes ‘undercover’ at strip club to solve a dancer’s murder. It wasn’t what I expected, and there are actually some charming moments. Oh yeah, MR. ROPER is in it…approved!

Code Of Silence (1985) 👍
Chuck Norris Chicago cop drama, with Dennis Farina and other familiar faces. Well made, even if Norris plays himself in every film.

Lone Wolf McQuade (1983) 👍
Chuck Norris as a Texas Ranger, David Carradine is the bad guy, and Barbara Carerra is the femme fatale.

Savage Streets (1984) 👍
Linda Blair avenges the deaths of her deaf mute sister and a close friend, at the hands of street thugs. Enjoyable, but brutally long ending, and some heartless male characters.

The Warrior and the Sorceress (1984) 👍
David Carradine kills bad warriors, and a topless sorceress follows him everywhere. Oh, and water is scarce. Apparently women’s clothes are, too.

The Running Man (1987) 👎
This Arnie flick did not age well, Cringe moment - he says “I’ll be back” in one scene. Not his best, and not sure I ever thought it was that good to begin with. Extremely ridiculous ending.

Invasion U.S.A. (1985) 👍/👎
A half-likeable Norris flick, with terrible audio (soft dialogue, loud explosions). He destroys a mall with a pickup truck, and blows stuff up. I got tired of messing with the volume control!

Killing American Style (1990) 👎
Low budget action schlock, a prison bus escape results in a family hostage situation at their home. Has its moments (unintentional laughs), but not enough to recommend.

Gas Pump Girls (1979) 👎
Ya don’t watch a film called Gas Pump Girls for the story, because there isn’t one. A bewb-filled bore-fest that looks and feels very '70s.

American Commando 6 - Kill Butterfly Kill (1987) 👍
A woman seeks vengeance on a gang who assaulted her, one at a time. She achieves her goals, but will there be a happy ending for our heroine? Don’t worry about Parts 1-5, not even sure they exist.

Robo Vampire (1988) 👎
The opening 10 minutes were so bad that I skipped through most of it, then bailed. Low quality video, and bad audio overdubs. The video box and poster show what looks like the actual ROBOCOP, but that is not what is in the film.

Raw Deal (1986) 👍
Solid Arnie flick, I liked this better than I remember liking it in the '80s. Maybe it was Commando that I didn’t like?

Never Too Young To Die (1986) 👎
Starring John Stamos, Vanity, and Gene Simmons as a hermaphrodite in drag. That should tell you everything you need to know before deciding to watch this.

UHF (1989) 👍
I have always been a Weird Al fan, and this movie is still funny today. I love the fake TV ads and Gedde Watanabe. Michael Richards is great, too.

The Boyfriend School aka Don’t Tell Her It’s Me (1990) 👎
Terrible rom-com with my man Steve Guttenberg as a cancer survivor looking for love, Shelley Long as his sister, Jamie Gertz as the love interest, and Kyle McLachlan as…I don’t know because I shut the movie off after 20 minutes. Don’t bother.

Clue (1985) 👎
I know Clue has its fans, but to this day, I still don’t like it. A talented ensemble cast is relegated to stage play antics, constantly running around in circles, searching for laughs. A witless, flimsy whodunnit.

Screwballs (1983) 👎
Poorly made Porky’s knockoff, it even takes place in the '60s, which doesn’t explain a KISS pinball machine in one scene. No redeeming qualities.

Deathstalker (1983) 👍
I have a soft spot for '80s sword-n-sorcery flicks, no matter how bad they are. They reward in mysterious ways.

Sorceress (1982) 👍
More swords and bewbs, which is the cornerstone of these types of movies!

Lycan Colony (2006) 👎
Imagine the worst film you’ve ever seen, then watch Lycan Colony, then ask yourself why you just watched the entire movie.

White Fire (1984) 👎
Starring Robert Ginty (the dad in 1989’s Loverboy). A smuggler avenges his partner/sister’s death. Lets just say he loved her A LOT. He actually pays another woman to get a facelift to look like his dead sister. Yeah, total creepfest! Made in Italy, some dubbed audio.

Driving Force (1989) 👎
In the future, competing tow truck companies create accidents to generate business. Sigh. With Sam Jones (Flash Gordon), Catherine Bach (Daisy Duke), and DON Swayze.

Samurai Cop (1991) 👍
Low budget action film that is infamous for its terrible acting and production, but that makes it ‘so bad it’s good’! It’s worth a watch.

Parole Violators (1994) 👍
A disgraced cop videotapes criminals violating their parole. They kidnap his girlfriend and her daughter. He gets the crap kicked out of him the entire film. Poorly edited, but I actually liked it! There are some laugh-out-loud, unintentionally bad moments.

Future Force (1989) 👍
Bounty hunters in the “future” (1991!) compete for big rewards, but the guy in charge is corrupt. Starring David Carradine, who may or may not have been very drunk during filming. Enjoyable enough!

It Takes Two (1988) 👍
A day before getting married to his Texas bride in a small town, a groom-to-be travels to Dallas to buy a luxury car at a very cheap price. The car falls apart, he falls for the saleswoman, shenanigans ensue. It’s good! Barry Corbin sighting.

Cherry 2000 (1987) 👍
Melanie Griffith as a hired tracker, in a funky sci-fi feature about a guy whose female robot ‘companion’ short-circuits and dies. He embarks on a dangerous journey with Mel to find parts to repair his robolover. Great flick, I saw it on either HBO or USA Up All Night back in the day.
