Seen any good movies lately?

I could watch Aguirre:Wrath of God every day…yeah the revelations are a bummer…

and yes I’ve seen My Best Fiend a few times…amazing doc…really something to see that love/hate relationship unfold on screen…

Herzog’s appearance in The Simpsons was great, as was his small part in Jack Reacher, playing an evil overlord, which probably wouldn’t have been much of a stretch if you’d asked Kinski.

Did you ever see Crawlspace…?What a strange, claustrophobic film…

You guys see the short film Harmony Korrine did with Die Antwoord? It’s fuckin’ strange all right.

No, but i remember the poster for it when it came out on video in the 80s, i think Kinski may have had a swastika over one eye on it, possibly. It certainly looked like a weird film.

Yeah it’s a truly bizarre film…not a great film by any stretch but it’s outright strangeness mixed with an over the top Kinski makes for hard to turn away from viewing…it’s a nasty little flick indeed…

Fitzcarraldo is just a triumph of a film…you can’t believe your eyes with some of the shit in that film…have you seen the doc about it?..crazy that Mick Jagger was first considered for that role…

Okay, even if someone doesn’t like “Gummo” I sure hope they can respect how AWESOME this scene is . . .

Gummo rules…end of story

The most romantic movie scene ever.

I highly recommend Incident At Loch Ness featuring Herzog. It’s amazing.

Can’t believe so many guys my age (34) jizz themselves over shit like Batman and Spiderman or Harry Potter And The Magic Golden Sneakers or whatever the fuck. Doesn’t anyone appreciate the ‘art’ of cinema anymore? Doesn’t anyone love arthouse?

Apparently not. It’s all fucking superhero shit or boring, contrived crap with the same actors over and over and over. It’s as if people can’t go and see a decent film unless they have posters of the actors on their bedroom wall.

I don’t think audiences were necessarily more intelligent back in Bergman’s day. He always got excellent reviews, but his films weren’t huge financial successes, either.

There may have been less superhero movies in the 1950s and 1960s, but there was still schlock a-plenty: look up the “beach party” movies. Or on second thought, don’t.

Not understanding the Gummo love on here. Was there a point to that movie, or is there something I’m missing?

It’s about growing up in Ohio. And since I did, I can attest to its authenticity.

Gummo rules.

Gummo rules.

Yes it does. Brilliant piece of oddball cinema.

Spring Breakers was awesome also. Wish there were more directors out there with such sincere authenticity and genuine creativity.

Says the man who claims that Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantoms Menace is more of an artistic triumph than Pan’s Labyrinth.

Wait!! Star Wars Ep…greater…Pan’s…???

Ai yai yai!!! Mesa no comprehendo.

Stick to Bruce Willis, Michael Bay, chicks with big boobs, people blowing up shit, films with linear, predictable narratives and Pixar.

Fuck those kinds of films. I have virtually zero patience for special effectsy, mainstream eye candy shit. If that makes me a snob, then I’m a snob.

Korine is certainly an acquired taste - a bit like Bergman or even Woody Allen.

Korine? Allen? Bergman? Throw in some Fellini, some Buenel, some Fassbinder and some Altman and I’ll be a happy little camper cooking with gas.

Woody Allen is a boring prick.
Most interesting thing he ever did was rape his 12 year old daughter and then marry her.

He’s a creepy pedo bastard.

Agreed!

I’m sure he and Polanski could have fun swapping stories…

Saw Spring Breakers at Peligro’s recommendation. Fucking great. So many quotables. And the full frontal nude ‘outtake’ promo pics circulating of those two Disney whores were great value for money too!

Gummo is a fucking laugh as well. Great to watch baked.

Speaking of Werner Herzog:

The only interest I have in seeing this movie lies right there.
