Has anybody tracked down where the “they live without us” Sample comes from on Scarecrow?
I thought it was “they live without hope”?
It could be. either way… Do we know where the sample came from?
Twilight zone is sooo good. I absolutely adore Rod Serling. Such a beautiful writer and story teller.
You should be able to find this in a film called “Nightbreed” directed by Clive Barker and released in 1990.
Ever see the Cabal cut of Nightbreed?
Cool, thanks for the tip.
No! Do tell. I’ve never heard of that.
There is a long convoluted history with the Cabal cut of Nightbreed but basically its a 3+ hour cut that Clive Barker toured around at various US theaters a while back…it has additional footage culled from work tapes and other various sources…having gotten stuff from various sources the cut can be a jarring and disjointed viewing experience apparently…so Shout Factory released a Directors Cut that satisfied Barker but still wasn’t his complete vision for the film…So a few years back The Ultimate Cabal cut was supposed to be released but never was…so now it kind of has this mythical lore and mystique for horror fans…i haven’t checked in a while but to my knowledge it was only ever shown in that initial run of US theaters…
I dont believe the samples from this movie. Ive seen Nightbreed many times. Its a go to. Infact, I just got the Nightbreed Archive book. Pretty dope…
mmmm, bummer, I guess I’ll take it off the Netflix que. Damn, so we still don’t know where it came from…
Dude Nightbreed is worth watching just for the opening scene alone…not to mention the fact that David Fucking Cronenberg plays a sadistic serial killer in it…fucking money, bro
You might want to watch it anyway and see if something crops up? I suggested it because I have numerous Luxa/Pan sample libraries from 1992-1993 transferred directly from the Akai samplers of that era. “Nightbreed” is among the films sampled.
Yeah, I’ll check it out still.
What are sample libraries and are they labeled from where every sample comes from? Could you post them here?
Sample libraries meaning the source sounds used by the band… drums, noises, movie samples, synth hits, etc. They are labeled… sort of. Remember this is from an era when computer file names could only have eight or 10 characters or something like that, so figuring out what the names mean takes some thinking.
Unfortunately no, I cannot share them.
I meant their names and stuff like Pictures not the actual files.
If still no, no biggee
In High School I had a date with a smart, lovely, popular gal.
After dinner I took her to the movies. I don’t remember what else was playing other than Back to the Future 3 which I thought looked lame as shit. So, being the Rico Suave smooth as goddamned silk motherfucker I was, I said, “Night Breed, nice. We’ll see that.” There was never a second date. Turns out the classless bitch didn’t appreciate fine cinema. Fucking Philistine.
Could you at least tell us where you got them?
Oh sure, nothing particularly mysterious there! My close friend and partner in various present day music productions was the programmer on “Psalm” after Michael Balch was sacked.
Oh and to @grmpysmrf 's question… examples are names like FOD METAL1 (likely from “Fistful Of Dollars”) and MANCHMIND (from “The Manchurian Candidate”).
