rock n' roll hall and fame

yes Nirvana …should of been there a long time ago.
kiss well they suck then and now fuck gene simmons and what he thinks.

Nirvana are only nominated, there’s no guarantee they’ll be inducted. It goes to a vote by the members first, from what i’ve read.

To me the whole ethos of rock is diminished by having a hall of fame.

Yes, I said “ethos”. Deal with it.

You’re worse than nashtheslash

The hall of fame is a sham. Not worth the attention unless there’s a reunion worth giving a shit about it. Last one I watched was when Talking Heads were inducted and reunited for a couple songs.

Yeah, I could not care less about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame either. I have no idea who is in and who’s not and it makes absolutely no difference.

It will mean nothing until GG Allin is inducted!

and El Duce…

And RAY STEVENS!!!

Is Ministry in it yet?

Is Ministry in it yet?

Hah! That would be the day. One of those many bands to likely be swept under the rug. I’m still waiting for them to induct The Cure. The fact that they aren’t in there is enough reason to call it a sham.

All I really know about the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame is that a band can only be included 25 years after they debut? So it makes sense that Nirvana has not been nominated until now, but Ministry has been eligible for a while.

Ministry is far too obscure. My sense is that the Alternative bands are not really part of it unless their respective musical movements became mainstream with them at the forefront (i.e. Nirvana, Sex Pistols, etc.)

Even Nine Inch Nails would be unlikely to be nominated. Ministry? Forget it!

Void nailed it.
Ministry will NEVER be even considered. No way, not at all, not a chance in Hell.

Aside from what Voidy already noted, please remember that the people making these decisions are stuffy old man turdbags thinking that they are rebellious on the weekend when they put on their Tommy Bahama shirts or ride their shiny faggy Harleys.

They are 60 year old corporate buttholes, taking a break from their lawyer or tax accountant duties at Arista to drink a glass of Merlot, eat some Gruyere, show off their Jerry Garcia neckties and tell the rest of the world what ROCK AND ROLL is.

Please. May as well call it the Yuppie Faggot awards.

I agree about Ministry, but I do think NIN will eventually get in. Probably the only industrial-ish band that would/could.

Look at Trent now, getting Lindsey Buckingham and Adrian Belew to contribute to his albums. . .Tina Turner’s back up singers for his tour. . .this is deliberate “mainstreaming” on his part.

Adrian Belew was on ‘The Downward Spiral’ in '94. I don’t know about the other claims but I don’t really see much compromising in what Trent has done over the years. I think if anything he often found success despite his genre and the themes of his work.

Maybe I don’t understand what you’re saying. If Trent is legitimizing himself or the NIN brand for academic award or praise he’s earned it by now, I just doubt that is really the case.

Either way I should know better than to talk about NIN on this forum without invoking some crusty old prejudices from 1989 or something so I’ll steer clear from now on…

It’s true I’m not a fan, but I’m not bringing up any old prejudices. I’m simply stating a fact. He seems to be working with more mainstream, Hall of Fame friendly artists these days.

He’s no longer working with people like Clouser, Twiggy or Josh Freese.

Now it’s the guy from Fleetwood Mac and John Mayer’s bassist.

Yeah,but I wouldn’t lump Belew in there…Belew has hardly been mainstream over the past 4 decades…in fact,quite the opposite…

The only NIN player i ever really cared about still being in the line-up is Robin Finck. I wonder why he’s got the backing singers in for this leg of the tour? I can’t think of any need for them. This version of the band seems unnecessarily big.

i still feel Black Flag & Social Distortion need to be in…
