River's Edge (full movie)

We’ve talked about it many times. Now watch it.

SO GOOD! im looking at my VHS of it right now.

“The things I do for my fucking friends!!”

“The things I do for my fucking friends!!”

“I wouldn’t even JOKE about that, Clarissa.”

“You think I’d at least rate a Michelob! Uggh! It’s WWWWAAAAARRMMMMM even!!!”

Since we’re talking about this again, here’s my signed DVD that I mentioned a while back:

Reads: “For (my name), Let’s do it for John. You have a nice sister. From Crispin”

Take out the profanity and nudity and all you have left is an over rated, much hyped and yet fairly forgettable tv movie of the week.

Also, Keanu Reeves is in it.

i couldnt disagree more.

the film works perfectly as a study of clan behavior and even of non-nuclear family bonding. the way that Glover’s character tries to take over as father and protector because of his fear of loneliness, Reeves discomfort with the abuse and longing to be healthy, the Near Dark kid’s loss of trust and budding abuse cycle personality, the initial murder itself and all of those implications, and most of all the whole ‘she is already dead, we cant help her, but we can help him, i dont want to loose two friends’ logic behind the bonding…

this is a REALLY on point movie.

First let me say me smart tv kicks ass. It came with a YouTube app and so i watched it on my tv and it looked like any other movie i would watch, full screen, good sound. So, yeah i watched it last night and it was cool the dead girl had nice tits and nips so that was a plus. Crispin glover was a freak, reeves was a milder template for ted. I thought it was funny how crispin poked the dead girl with a stick just like a little boy would do with anything. Not quite sure why he was more broken up over johns death than the girls. Kinda get the idea that crispin may have been latently gay.

Not to mention Ministry got a good sample out of it.

Which one? I’ve never seen the film, i just read there’s a few Slayer songs in it though.

It’s in “Step.” The shrieking sound is Crispin Glover towards the end of the movie.

Didn’t notice that
Edit:
But now that I’ve since listened to Step again, I can say what I once thought was an out of tune Sax at the beginning of the song is probably the Crispin Glover wailing sample

I believe they sample Dennis Hopper’s weird sax playing in TV 3 too.

“There’s my leg. I wonder if there’s any beer in that can.”

Ah, cheers, must check the film out some time.

Count in me as not a fan of the film, either. It moves like a second-rate Gus Van Sant movie, story-wise.

I love Tim Hunter as a director, but it’s flat to me.

The following are all great and important films:

Through A Glass Darkly (Bergman)
The Silence (Bergman)
The Virgin Spring (Bergman)
The Bitter Tears Of Petra Von Kant (Fassbinder)
Andrei Rublev (Tarkovsky)
Stalker (Tarkovsky)
September (Allen)
Zelig (Allen)
Come And See (Klimov)
Even Dwarves Started Small (Herzog)
The Enigma Of Kasper Hauser (Herzog)
Pola X (Carax)
The Holy Mountain (Jodorowsky)

Only small steps, yet born in a straight line.

You all must see these and forget there ever was a River’s Edge…
