Just read that the Westboro Baptist Church is gonna protest the funeral, and sing their own rendition of Crazy Train. I hope the Slatanic Wehrmacht gives them the ass kicking of a lifetime.

Consensus among metalheads and the justice inclined among us is these people deserve a serious ass beating, although prominent members of the WBC are lawyers. Even if they are IRL trolls on a largely successful scale, it doesn’t seem wise to provoke a fanbase not exactly known for “civility in group settings”.
I’m dumbfounded why they picked Crazy Train? Is a thirty year old song really good bait? An antiquated choice that only evokes the satanic panic of the 80s and their then targeting of Ozzy.
Lawyers? Seriously? I’ve never heard that. Funny thing is that it would be hard to prosecute a mob. And if they beat those fuckers to death what good is being a lawyer if your dead? If that ends up the case it will be a sad state of affairs in the us… they picket child and soilder funerals and people just complain about them but they picket an entertainment guy and they lose their lives… what does that say about what we deem more important?

Any violence directed towards them would be exactly what they want. Yeah, they’re no class scum and the world would be a better place without their vile rhetoric. But giving them a reason to play the victim card and get media coverage would be a very stupid thing to do.
And those soldiers died so that WBC could have the right to picket their funerals!!! Or wait… is that not right?

You have a point. But they picketed Dio’s, and Michael Jackson’s, funerals and nothing happened. This is Slayer we’re talking about. Their fan base is VERY anti-religious, and won’t stand for this. At least I hope they won’t. Again, I see your point and definitely agree. But if this is what it takes to bring the hammer down, then by all means…
I honestly have never really given a crap about the WBC. Yeah, they’re buttholes. But they skyrocketed overnight because people gave them so much attention and free advertising.
So they hold up God Hates Fags and Dio is in Hell signs. Whoopdeedoo. They’re not allowed on private property. They’re subject to the same laws everyone else is.
The media and everyone that supposedly is so repulsed by them have made them super-celebrities. For what? Did they kill anyone? Did they burn anything? Did they rob anyone? No. For the most part they just stood around looking like assholes and people ate it up and begged for seconds.

Well, if they were to be killed they wouldn’t be around to soak up that attention or play the victim card. I seriously think most people really wouldn’t be too unhappy about it and wouldn’t let them play martyr cards based on their past behavior. I would oppose their death on philosophical grounds, but I would understand the anger and the reasons people would want to.

Yeah, but mike jackson was a pop star and Dio may as well be a pop star next to slayer. Not saying it’s gonna happen but I think this an entirely different fan base, wouldn’t surprise me.

Slayer fans are known for their open-mindedness, tolerance, and general sensitivity towards others. They are also pretty low key when it comes to allegiance towards their band of choice and choose not to be very vocal about such matters. They’re a pretty docile bunch, actually. Every once in a while they might get a little rowdy at a concert and throw around some beach balls or something, but other than that there’s nothing to worry about.

Unless you took out each and every member of WBC they would still be able to play the victim card. The only attention their soaking up is the attention people keep foolishly giving them.
I certainly cannot understand the reasoning for killing a group of people because they said offensive things and put provocative, offensive insults on their stupid little picket signs. That would be like taking out some band because they had offensive lyrics and imagery that were meant to provoke and shock people. Kinda like…

there’s only, like, 6 of them…

I think the difference is that people buy tickets to “offensive” concerts where as these people just show up uninvited. You don’t like what slayer has to say don’t buy their albums. Sucks to be at a funeral with these people screaming your loved one is burning in hell.
I seriously doubt that a slayer mob would need little more than a dirty look from WBC, let alone some churchies mocking their grief, to set them off.

He was cool. And as you can imagine, pretty strange. But very polite. He was dating my sister at the time (Yeah, yeah, I’ve heard it all), so he signed it:
Let’s do it for John. You have a nice sister. From Crispin
