RIP Jeff Hanneman

Definitely two different styles. If you really want to hear Lombardo at his absolute best, you need to give GRIP, INC. a listen.

I might have to take your advice. But Curse Of The Cloth is one of the worst songs I’ve ever heard.

From Avalanchers:

How is it that he’s dead and uncle al is still alive?

We said that about mikey.

I don’t even know that one.

Just listen to “Power of Inner Strength” . . . loudly.

What!? Curse of the cloth is awesome i love the build-up and the break down righy before the gtr. solo makes the hair stand on the back of my neck. check it out JW be sure to blast it though.

i’m curious if it was really a spider bite or if that was a cover up for a dirty needle or something. it seemed like an interview with kerry not too long ago made it seem iffy.

al claimed the spider bite story before too on his arm when he almost lost it, was that legit?

I will check it out. Thanks. I absolutely LOVE Grip, Inc… They are really an underappreciated jewel of the metal world. The combination of Lombardo, Chambers and whomever the other cats were was just pure magic. “Power of Inner Strength” is one of the most-played discs in my car.

I wondered the same but I think it’s just what people are assuming was the cause of the flesh eating disease he had. I highly fucking doubt a spider bite contributed to his liver failing. There’s not even any reason to think the disease he had was caused by a spider.

Seems like any time someone has a bump or a rash or something they assume it’s a spider bite when it could actually be from a hundred different things.

My wife told me yesterday morning that a couple entomologists from UCR (UCR is known nationally for their entomology department) made the news by saying that because the spider bite was 2 years ago it contributed nothing to the break down of dude’s liver. That kind of stuff kills within weeks or months but not 2 years later.

Brown Recluses don’t live in California, So Jeff being bitten by a brown recluse here in Cali is ridiculously slim. Now, Texas on the other hand, they are. So you’ve got a 50/50 shot of al telling bullshit or reality.

When I heard liver failure, I kind of figured he’d hit the bottle pretty hard in his downtime. He couldn’t play, so I assume he was depressed.

Sucks.

queer bait started to talk about River’s Edge on avalanchers. Slayer was played throughout the whole movie. We’ve discussed it on here many times, but I think it’s time to check Netflix.

Best. Movie. Ever.
Best. Soundtrack. Ever.

The end.

Unfortunately, the only River’s Edge I could find is one with a John Wayne lookalike on the cover. So I’ll just leave everyone with this.

^YES! That’s my favorite track. Actually got me into Hallow’s Eve.

I always wondered who did that song. I finally decided to look today. What albums are worth checking out? I figure they must be good based off of this song, and the fact that they don’t have a wikipedia.

“Death and Insanity” (which has “Lethal Tendencies”) is my favorite, with “Tales of Terror” a close second.

Look for a collection, though, called “History of Terror” which is like all of their 80’s albums (including live recordings from the same era) on 4 discs. I got it at Amoeba for 10 bucks. Great score!

Fuck yeah that’s a good score! I’ll definitely look into it when I have a little more cash to spend.

River’s Edge also helped me discover the magic of Slayer’s Show No Mercy. Best album they ever did. It didn’t sound like everything else after.

Not to mention they looked like this back then

Hallow’s Eve…Death & Insanity very cool stuff…old school for sure. Metal up your ass!
