now that I think… does 23, or r23, did not tell he was also in the ministry camp?

yes! that’s the one, i remember now.
I definitely would like to see mrsjay post here more often. My first post probably sounds like a bit of a bitchfest, but I hope she can respect some of our honest opinions, whether she agrees or not.
The Bush-bashing doesn’t seem like a mere generalization to me. I know Houses isn’t all about Bush…I even argued that point a while back. But the Bush samples on record, Al’s rants in interviews, Bush’s likeness on the tray art for Houses and the cover of RGB…I’m just tired of hearing about the guy. Mrs J says that the last two albums are much more than about Bush, but when Al calls The Last Sucker the end of the “Bush trilogy”, what are we supposed to think? What if Twitch/LORAH/Mind was the Reagan trilogy, full of Reagan and Oliver North samples? How would those albums sound today?
I think my biggest concern as a fan is how dated this material might sound in only a couple of years. The angry energy of RGB and select tracks on Houses will seem diminished, only because the guy’s no longer in office. It’s just personal preference, but lyrics such as “one dictator is the same as the later” carry more weight over the years than timestamping a record with name-dropping Bin Laden, Sadaam, and Bush in the songs.
The Bush themes themes haven’t turned me against Ministry. Houses is still my favorite album since Mind. I just recall a time when Al was all about doing something new and different with each album, but he seems to have cemented a thematic comfort zone over the past couple of years, and this final album is more proof of that. I just hope there are some great songs on it.
From one long-time fan’s point of view…

I think many of us fans fall prey to psychological projection, that is we attribute our own subjective aesthetic views to Al, who is in fact an artist free to do whatever he wants and pleases.
Luckily, we all live in a free world (at least with respect to commodities) so there is nothing stopping us from skipping that Ministry album on the store rack and getting a Muslimgauze CD instead… And I wish more of us did that rather than venting our grievances on this board
I finally listened to Muslimgauze thanks to lastfm. I need to explore his discography.
By the way, if Al has fun and is happy with the actual form of Ministry, I’m more than ok. Even if I can’t just hear HOTM, and just find RGB fun. But in the same time, my tastes have evolved, even if LORAH is still my favourite album of all time, I don’t think I will like a 2007 LORAH 2 The return

You make a good point about psychological projection, and I’m sure I’m plenty guilty of that. But as a music fan, I’m as subjective as objective, so I’ll criticize and scrutinize just as any music fan or critic would do. I compare albums and have my own preset idea of what I think Ministry is/was/has become.
As far as venting grievances here, I don’t mind reading people’s criticisms when they’re posted in a civil manner (not vulgar and hateful), because it’s a lot more interesting to read someone’s personal breakdown of a Ministry album than a hundred posts of “I like it” or “I don’t like it” with nothing further to add. We’re here to discuss Ministry, good or bad, and if someone has something to say, I’m willing to listen regardless whether I agree or not.

tenohtwo, your posts are entirely too logical and well thought out. Are you sure you belong here?
he needs to do a drunken post or something. those are always good the next day…
I’m pretty sure I’ve posted drunk on here more than a few times (usually after concerts), and certainly dragged myself into an embarrasing flamefest in the past. I sometimes have a bad habit of getting too wordy and off topic when I post (here and elsewhere), so I’m just consciously trying to keep it short(er), and stick to the subject.
What were we talking about again?

huh? from wikipedia:
At the heart of Icke’s theories is the view that the world is ruled by a secret group called the “Global Elite” or “Illuminati,” which he has linked to The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, an anti-Semitic hoax.[3][4] In 1999, he published The Biggest Secret, in which he wrote that the Illuminati are a race of reptilian humanoids known as the Babylonian Brotherhood, and that many prominent figures are reptilian, including George W. Bush, Queen Elizabeth II, Kris Kristofferson, and Boxcar Willie.
Reptile? Illumunati?
Might as well add the Freemasons, Raelians, and penguins in there as well.
He needs to stop hanging around with Tom and Katie.
Can’t wait for Peligro’s to reply to this…
isn’t that the pitch of a Fear factory concept album?
Can’t wait for Peligro’s to reply to this…
I can’t beleive I’m writing this but so am I.
Straight from the sites “headlines” section
'A group of researchers working at the Human Genome Project indicate that they made an astonishing scientific discovery: They believe so-called 97% non-coding sequences in human DNA is no less than genetic code of extraterrestrial life forms …"
So I’m assuming they have some E.T. Dna to compare it with? Of Course it doesn’t say…
I can see Peligros Disdain for “liberals” if this is all he is exposed to by way of them. This guy is WAAY to fringie for me. Me thinks 'sbout to get reeeelly ugly in here!

i miss stupidweed.
I’m fairly certain that Jizzwad = Stupidweed. Besides, there’s no reason to miss him whether he’s here or gone [:)]
Its really ironic to hear you blame the media for spin/ poor journalism. I think Mark Prindle’s review of RGB was pretty spot on without any of “typical press spin” your talking about. I’m gonna have to jump on the “stop singing about bush” bandwagon, but i think the quality of the lyrics is what bothers me most. I mean I’ve heard better takes on bush an politics from bands like Slayer and Brighteyes, pathetic. I mean if your compare Palestina and Jihad it makes Slayer sound fucking brilliant, thats pretty hard to do. You can sing about politics without sounding like a tard. Its stuff like “I make a profit off people oppressed/ I take the money ‘til there’s nothing left/ And all I gotta say is Yippie Aye Yay” and “I want to line up the congressmen/ And strap /them to their missiles/ Then I’ll point them at their temples” that really just ruins it for me. And what ever happened to ministry being experimental. I remember back in the day when Ministry released Filth Pig at the pinnacle of their carreer and completely through off all the Pslam 69 fans. It was one of the most unmarketable records released on a major label and I always respected the band for having the musical integrity to release it. Anyways I’m done ranting now. I’m gonna go listen to some Jesu.
Wow…so much has happened since I was last here. The gloves are off - people are gettin’ bloody!!
Ummm…yeah. I’m gonna have to agree with what Insect has said here. I’m also pretty indifferent to the last two albums and to be honest haven’t really liked a Ministry album since Filth Pig (which I think is brilliant). It’s just that the new stuff sounds so predictable and passe. A thrash metal keyboard sample fest. It’s the type of music I kinda like but have heard done so much better recently - whereas once upon a time I was comparing so many other ‘heavy’ bands to Ministry (ie they’re ok I s’pose, but Ministry do that kinda thing so much better). It’s a shame. I don’t hate the new stuff, but it doesn’t raise the hairs on the back of my neck like the old stuff used to.
Maybe I’m just gettin’ old (32)??
- also, this new remix stuff is fairly ordinary, in my opinion. Hopefully that one previewed track is the weakest one on offer.
A thrash metal keyboard sample fest.
See, I don’t get where that’s a problem.

Agreed.
I think maybe the issue is that a thrash metal fest is great if I am buying Christ Illusion, or a DRI remaster or something.
I personally didn’t mind HOTM or RGB, but they sure didn’t have the lasting enjoyment that TLORAH or Psalm 69 did.
Regardless, I will buy it and add it to the rest.
