I wouldn’t call it “dubby,” but it’s certainly different.
I’m looking forward to hearing the rest of it.
Not only do they have to release three albums worth of redundant, juvenile Bush baiting thrash metal, they have to remix them in the most redundant, juvenile manner possible…milking the fans for all they’re worth in the process… A REMIX album full of left wing lies. Shameful!!
What a heap of shit. This is laughable - far funnier (unintentionally) than the Tom Green dvd I just watched.
Wait’ll I tell everybody about this!
i kinda like it. too much treble again though [:P]
I’m quite pleased with the remix (at least from the low volume listen I could get through work speakers). It doesn’t sound like the original, the voice sounds great and the drums have a refreshing “Twitch”-iness.
I still like Rio Grande as an album and am happy for remix CD. I don’t consider myself “milked” any more than I would for any music product. The fact that, as likely as not, I’ll be able to download it really cheaply through eMusic only adds to the non-milkiness of the product.
It’s an old phrase but one that the internet may never get its collective head around - if you don’t want it, don’t buy it.
this was really much better than i was fearing, i am glad to see that this remix actually sounds like a different song, unlike some of the tracks on rantology.
looking forward to it.
I’ve never really understood the whole “milking the fans” veiwpoint. I mean, if you don’t want remix/live albums, don’t buy them. If you like a band enough to buy everything they put out, than it’s just giving you more of what you want. If not, why would you be forced to buy them?
Hmmmm…
I kinda wish this is what the original version sounded like! More attention-grabbing than the original song. More interesting on an experimental level.
Mrs Jay, is Al aware that Ministry fans are sick to fucking death of hearing about George Bush? I feel like I already know what I’m in for with The Last Sucker. I hope it’s not just an extension of Rio Grande Blood. I did enjoy the Houses LP, but that was enough Bush-bashing for me. Something fresh and completely different would be great for a Ministry finale. Probably too late for that comment.
One suggestion for the upcoming tour - PLEASE don’t deafen us fans any further - we’d actually like to hear the songs in detail without having to shove an inch of foam in our ears for protection. Slight reduction in overall volume at the upcoming shows, so we can enjoy the songs…just a thought…
No disrespect intended, but the last tour fucking hurt…I’m 36, and after 5+ Ministry tours and countless other concerts, the ears are on a bit of a mend…
1002
Wow. I’m… fuckin’ impressed. I like it muy much. It’s completely differant than what I was expecting and I like it more than I think I should. <dirty little gleam>
I’ll definately get this when it comes out. If this is any indication of what the rest of the remixes sounds like then I’m all for it.
I agree with some of the other people on this board though about a few points. There IS still too much treble for my tastes, and while I love the live shows being deafeningly loud, I would like to be able to hear everything a bit more. Also, PLEASE ask Al to stop with the Bush crap. We get it. I love him and what he is saying and agree with him but make this last album much more like a collective of all the Ministry years. We need something special for him to leave out on rather than another “Bush is stealing your money” thing. And finally, it would be nice if this tour he did more songs from the other albums, not the standard setlist he’s been doing for years. The Fall would be ace… A few songs from Twitch and maybe a song or two from this Dub album rather than the RGB versions… Get him to ressurect Halloween maybe? Hell… I dunno… Just something more than a standard formula… And finally, maybe we can get lucky enough to have a double disc rather than a single CD this time around? That would be great.
Anyhoo… Pass on my words that it sounds ace and I love it. Will be buying it as soon as 13th Planet gets it in my mailbox!
Peace!
Krowe
Not bad, I wouldnt mind a few such more electronic moments on the upcoming album, although frankly, being a thrash metal fan, I wouldnt mind more of that either
hello prongs folks…
yes, i like this remix cd very much. the packaging is fun as well.
this comment about “enough Bush bashing” confuses me at times. i find it quite a simplistic interpretation of Houses and RGB. i know that the “sound bite” the press takes on Al’s work is “Bush Wacker” “Bush Basher,” blah blah blah - it’s the typical press spin, but seriously, to me, these two works are about so much more than that.
A lot of press reviews centered around one specific quote by Al regarding Republicans in the White House and it just kept being repeated over and over…it’s lazy journalist to read other reviews and ask the same questions and spit out the same reviews. However, there are still some old skool journalists out there who actually listen to the ENTIRE cd and ask thought-provokig questions. The French Press are very good at this, Germans too. They dig a little harder, as perhaps you should when you listen to these trax, or not. It’s totally up to you.
For instance, Yellow Cake…Palestina…Warped City…World…Worm…WKYJ just to name a few off the top of my head…
If you mean you’re sick of political protest, that’s another matter altogether. If you are asking Al to become apathetic to global issues that have far-reaching effects on all of us, I doubt that is ever going to happen. He’s just not feeling apathetic these last few years. He’s also not in a drug-induced self absorbed depression, either.
As for the sound on tour…it probably would depend on which show you were at last tour. We switched FOH guys after San Fran. I think our new fellow did a great job.
That’s it for now. Glad most of you enjoyed the sneak peak of RGD.
I’ll check in again in a few weeks.

I like the groove…good start.
but seriously, to me, these two works are about so much more than that.

worm has become on of my favorite ministry tracks. to me, it seems like it’s about the horrors of just existing, getting old, friends, etc, but in the end accepting your lot getting on with it.

On this note I agree with you. It’s not that the whole album is about Bush on any of them. It’s just the fact that we know his political stance on things and while yes, they do have far reaching implements and such, they are a bit tiresome to hear on an album every spin. Not asking the man to give up his political beliefs, just asking him to stop throwing it down our eardrums on every album and do something different, like most of the Filth Pig album, or LORAH stuff.
As for the sound on tour…it probably would depend on which show you were at last tour. We switched FOH guys after San Fran. I think our new fellow did a great job.
I was at the New Orleans and Birmingham shows this last tour.
Peace!

In couldn’t have said it better myself!!!
“I hate bush as much as the next guy”
This means you have been programmed and don’t really have an idea for yourself… (much like peligro)Which really boils down to You don’t know how bad he’s fucking you/us If you really knew you wouldn’t be so apethetic about it. Learn yourself. Don’t just settle for FAUX NEW, CNN, get some real journalism. THe Gaurdian out of the UK is great, Washington Post is pretty thorough as well. IF you can keep up with all of these outlests FAUX news included you will get a pretty well rounded story as to what is going on! AND IT SUCKS!!!
KEEP UP THE BU$H BASHING maybe some of these youngins will be inspired enough to find out why he sucks…kill the apathy in youth? that is really dangerous!!!

Thank Goodness
New track does kick ass. Looking forward to the release!

I’d like to add a few things since we have the ear of Mrs. Jay:
I actually like the “excessive” treble and tinniness of the drums. I think it adds to an overall more industrial and processed sound.
However I do agree that the recent concerts have just been too loud and I’m only 20 years old! (I saw them on the tour for Houses of the Mole in a club in NYC)
Also I agree with others about adding more variation in the setlists and playing tunes from older albums. However I know Al’s not gonna be doing shit from Twitch or With Sympathy and I’m fan with that. What I want to hear is stuff from Filth Pig, Dark Side of the Spoon, and Animositisomina all of which were completely lacking in the setlist when I saw them play.
Also I do agree with others that the Bush bashing is overdone. Instead of ranting, why not offer solutions? What ARE Al’s political views? What should be done differently? What about global warming? The Virginia Tech Massacre? Al is a Cuban. How does he feel about the Castro regime? What is his stance on Iran getting nuclear weapons? We know he hates Bush, his “muse”. Enough already. Talk about the genocide in Darfur or something if you’re so up in arms…
[ just asking him to stop throwing it down our eardrums on every album and do something different, like most of the Filth Pig album, or LORAH stuff.
Heh, Filth Pig was a breakup album. Probably the last thing Mrs. Jay wants to hear
it is a great deal better than i was expecting, and i am looking forward to hearing more.
we already know the last sucker is the end of a ‘trilogy’ so no such luck on the lack of bush ranting.
lower the concert volume please.
make the last tour one to remember. re-do all day, or bring out flashback, or some pailhead or something.
we all know that al is an insane thrash metal monster these days, but you know, at one time, he wasn’t and the music was pretty damn good.
I thought you were leaving?? If you insist… What, Pray Tell, IS a left wing lie? Point one out please??

The Bush government were in some way involved in the attacks on the World Trade Centre
The invasion of Iraq to install a democratically elected government is actually a ploy to attain oil and make Bush and his cronies filthy rich.
The Bush regime is in cahoots with Bin Laden.
Global warming is a result of mass industry and overpopulation.
Michael Moore knows what he’s talking about.
p.s and whatever yr political beliefs may be, it shouldn’t detract from the fact that this new Ministry material is the dog’s bollocks.
p.p.s can someone PLEASE point out to me how Al is ‘growing as an artist’??
