The cover artwork for MINISTRY’s upcoming album, “Rio Grande Blood”, has been posted online at [url “http://www.blabbermouth.net/ministry_rio.jpg”]HERE. Produced by MINISTRY founder Al Jourgensen, the follow-up to 2004’s “Houses Of The Molé” was recorded at Sonic Ranch studios in Tornillo, Texas and features Tommy Victor (PRONG, ex-DANZIG) and Paul Raven (KILLING JOKE). A May 9 release via Jourgensen’s newly launched 13th Planet label is expected. Two recent photos of MINISTRY taken during the recording sessions for their new album have been posted online: [url “http://www.photodump.com/direct/maxmal/SonicRanch.jpg”]Photo#1 (left to right: Tommy Victor, Al Jourgensen, Paul Raven), [url “http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y13/maxmal/sonicranch2.jpg”]Photo#2 (left to right: Raven, drummer Mark Baker, Jourgensen, Victor).
In other news, Jourgensen confirmed in a recent online posting that SLIPKNOT drummer Joey Jordison will be sitting behind the kit for MINISTRY on their upcoming North American tour, which is scheduled to kick off in early May. Joey is expected to join a touring lineup that will include Jourgensen, Victor and Raven.
MINISTRY’s MasterBaTour 2006 will consist of 60 dates scheduled throughout the U.S. and Canada beginning on May 6. Support on the trek will come from Al’s other band, REVOLTING COCKS and the San Antonio, Texas-based PITBULL DAYCARE. European dates are currently being booked for August and September 2006.

Ministry shouldve waited awhile and shoved HOTM and this Rio Grande Blood into one super-anti-Bush album. At least the artwork doesnt suck. This cd better not have every song packed with Bush samples and anti-Bush propaganda, cos thatll just fluster the fuck out of my furry feathers.
I don’t think “oh dear” really says enough in this case.
FInd it hard to believe that this childish drivel is the brainchild of a respected and supposedly intelligent veteran of the alternative heavy music scene.
hate to say it orbasm, but judging by the artwork, we’re in for a helluva a lot more bush bashing.
this whole anti-bush propaganda has really really reached saturation point on al’s behalf. i mean, i don’t mind al expressing himself politically, everyone’s entitled to, but he’s rammin it down our throats.
fuck, why stop at bush? i’m sure there’s plenty of other more worthy, albeit REAL, dictators that al could bash on.
i’m australian. this propaganda has little relevance to me, and therefore is starting to detract from its appeal…
gotta admit, that IS a cool album cover tho!
i wish connelly was doing the lyrics for ministry, and barker the bass. to me, ministry is slowly becoming little more than a bad joke, the only thing saving it is the music (to me at least) is still above standard… revco are one step away from being a bad joke. that step is luc van acker.
At least the artwork isnt as bad as Houses or Rantology (not that thats extremely important). My guess is this album will be better than Houses at least but still Al should have packed it in after Animositisomina and concentrated on Buck Satan and the 666 shooters.
still Al should have packed it in after Animositisomina and concentrated on Buck Satan and the 666 shooters.
yes, i’ve been thinking that alot lately too.
edit
oh yes mrs jay seems to express same thing about the leaked cover as for revco “omg it’s leaked? that sux, it’s not the final version, the real version is great!!!”
And please tell me you people were joking about the album cover…
George Bush with a fucking crown of thorns rising out of an oil barrel?!?
Yeah real FUCKING subtle.
Uhm… I think thats the point, for it to be easily understood thatr Georgey-boi is a big fat doody head. [sly]
Yeh this album will especially suck for peoples outside of America, being that they A: dont care about Bush because they dont live here and B: they already know hes evil and theyre still laughing at us retards for voting him in again (and so am I, VOTE THIRD PARTY GODDAMNIT!)
I hope they throw some non-Bush songs on there, Id like to hear AT LEAST 5 since havent heard one from Ministry in a looong time.
WHAT THE FUCK IS JELLO BIAFRA DOING ON A MINISTRY ALBUM ?!?!
Ok yeah he did some flag pledge bullshit on
In Case You Didn’t Feel Like Showing Up, but c’mon he has no place on a Ministry studio record.
Ministry is supposed to be evil and depraved, hateful and sinister.
They were darker and more experimental than any faggot punk act and I like them that way.
I don’t fucking listen to punk music with that bullshit teenage rebellion feel and those annoying fucking chords and that god awful vocal style. Fuck punk. It’s not sinister enough. It’s too light-hearted for me, and for Ministry I believe.
I like Jello in small doses (although I despise the Dead Kennedies) and I enjoyed his latest record Sieg Howdy! with the Melvins, but the man’s vocal presence simply is not right for a Ministry album and I can only take so much of him before the sheep-like wavery quality of his voice compels me to skip the track.
Al has been dabbling way to much in the inferior territory of thrash and punk these days, eschewing the industrial electronics that make Ministry so awesome for this “back-to-our-roots” bullshit hard rock.
None of this would matter, of course, if Paul Barker would just put out a fucking CD…
Then I wouldn’t have to spend any more money on Al’s journey into tired old musical territories that have been explored so many times before.
You need to listen to more punk. There’s lots of good stuff there. It’s just like any other genre of music, most of it sucks, but there’s stuff worth searching for. And not all punk is about “bullshit teenage rebellion”, just that stuff on MTV that people think is punk, which isn’t.
You listen to Wolf Eyes right? Ever hear of Violent Ramp? A punk side project of some of them. Good stuff.
besides, you never know what kind of vocals Jello will submit… it might be something like “Biotech Is Godzilla” from Sepultura’s “Chaos AD”, where all he did was scream “Godzilla” at one point in the song…
Wow, Voidhead, I was about to rip you a new one (not that you need, or even want, a new one) until you brought up the Paul Barker thing. People don’t seem to realize that the “Weird, electronic” side of Ministry WAS Paul Barker (don’t you mention ‘Twitch’. That was a fluke), while the heavy, supposedly dark side of it was Al. Subtract a certain half, and what do we have? No, go on, guess! Somebody…wanna guess? Hello?
As for myself, I loves some Jello vocals. I’m just scared that that one song will be the ONLY thing I like on the new album. I was really starting to get excited about the new Revco release, and look what happened. That’ll teach me to dream!
still, look at Eyes of Christ (one of my favorite Ministry tracks, and, IMO, one of the most important songs in Ministry history) and other songs which developed on the Twitch tour. Possibly because Mr.Barker was on board then?
