I was watching the X-Files yesterday (“The Post-Modern Prometheus” from season 5) and I noticed this Revco picture in the background (the episode was filmed in black and white) Rad.
Scully is hot.

According to the trivia section on her IMDb page, Skinny Puppy is one of her favorite bands.
and connecting that, Download remixed a song she was on:

LARD is in that shot too!!!
That’s what my girlfriend thought too, but I think it’s a Biohazard poster. Maybe.
I watched another episode last night and this other kid has a bunch of Megadeth and other metal band posters in his room. Those troubled kids…
^
I want others to weigh in on that one. The lettering/ font looks exactly like the stuff they had for album art and promo posters, etc. for the POWER OF LARD EP.
I liked all the little band shoutouts in the show too, though I never watched regularly. I remember a kid with a Vandals shirt and they played “Live Fast, Diarrhea”.
Fox makes a reference to Megadeth as well. Scully’s record collection!
There was an episode where a teenage character had a poster that said “Ich bin ein Auslander”.
I remember seeing a Sister Machine Gun poster on someone’s wall on the old Beverly Hills 90210 show and thinking “Psh. Yeah, right.”
I think “…ZARD” is the tail end of “THE JESUS LIZARD.” Same font and all.
I always love these ‘subculture sightings’ within more mega-popular media. We should have a thread solely to collect these…at one point I remember even seeing a commercial in the late 90s for Kinko’s (or some other copy services place, I can’t remember) in which a ditzy clerk had a huge black Psychick TV cross screened onto a yellow shirt, it was quite obvious and an odd thing to see within that context.

Yeah,I was thinking about that as well…I recently saw a movie and there was a Ministry poster on the wall and I can’t remember for the life of me what it was right now…
^ School of Rock? There is a Ministry sticker in the van…

On an episode of “Cold Case” (I think it was “Cold Case” but maybe it was one of the 8000 other TV detective shows) the show started with these obviously Columbine-inspired kids getting ready to let rip a full-on gunfire assault on a mall food court.
The build up was so great, as it used Pailhead’s “I Will Refuse” as the song in the intro and it just kept rolling in and getting more intense until the song explodes at the same time that the angsty teenagers finally open up with a hail of gunfire on everyone in site.
It was badass.
Also, there’s a Pailhead nod in “High Fidelity”. Jack Black is looking for others for his band Sonic Death Monkey and under “influences” it lists, among other names, PAILHEAD.
Let’s not forget the Cabaret Voltaire poster in Ferris Bueller. And from memory there’s a quick shot of a poster advertising a Resident’s gig in Less Than Zero.

Yeah, and Cusack wears a Wax Trax shirt in one scene.

i agree

HAHA!! I was just gonna say that one.
Here’s my all time favorite, though, for obvious reasons.
Watch at the top of the screen at the 0:18 mark.
