Yeah, I’m thinking the same thing. I’m very surprised. It’s cool to see.
Twerk4Love, awesome interview. You really went deep - you know the forte of interviewing for sure. You should do one with Barker too - only because I haven’t seen one (if you’re interested…).
I’ll have to listen to the album - the last many always sounded like rented musicians did most of the work and the vocals were an after thought. Though, Wargasm, the only track I did hear from it, screams Killing Joke’s “The Wait” to me…

That’s my thoughts exactly too. Almost ironic considering his extreme hatred for With Sympathy being “hired guns and I had very little to do with it.”
There’s been a handful of tracks over recent years where his brilliance shines, so there’s always a little bit for me to enjoy in a new Ministry LP.
If stealing from Killing Joke is good enough for Cobain, it’s good enough for Al.
Its good enough for Justin on the latest Godflesh as well…
And stealing from Al is good enough for Wendy’s [laugh]
Its good enough for Justin on the latest Godflesh as well…
Details…?
new cd sucks…
It’s weird. It’s like modern ministry doing DSOTS pt. 2. I kinda like it…

Thanks a ton! I really appreciate that. Id love to interview Barker. I did do an interview with all the Bells into Machine guys via email. But, Id love to talk to Paul about Lead into Gold and his future plans. Id also like to get him to discuss the Wax Trax doc and maybe get him to take a trip down memory lane.
After one (admittedly distracted) listen, I’ll say that while it’s no masterwork, Amerikkkant is miles above the last two albums (or the co-conspirators cover albums). It’s probably about on the level of the Bush trilogy, which is fine. Probably as good as Al
I’ll give it a more concentrated listening this weekend.
I’ve given the album a full listen and it is by far the best album since Houses. Victims of a Clown is the best Ministry Song since Khyber Pass.
It isn’t a masterpiece and won’t gain a ton of new listeners, but as a long time fan, I’m pleased.
new cd sucks…
full blooded review fuck you al
Did you get it in white coofin?
I only seen colors
CONGRATULATIONS TO LIZ ON THE NEW LIZ ALBUM!!!
She is quite accomplished!
Mine is supposed to arrive in the mail today, I’ll give it a listen then.
Well hats off to Al. This record has the most interesting start to a Ministry record in 20yrs and when the Twilight Zone drums come in after the instrumental intro the hairs stood up on the back of my neck.
9 track album which is perfect. Instrumental opener, 3 tracks clocking in at over 8mins each and of course Arabian Prince & Swamp on the cuts! The most interesting addition though is that Lord Of The Cello guy…his instrument adds a surprising element of emotion as all strings do obviously.
That being said it’s a poor Ministry record…but easily the best since Houses Of The Mole.
The BPMs are another big surprise…it’s a snail’s pace compared to the shite Al has released over the last 13yrs.
Music & BPM wise I’d compare it to DSOTS/What About Us which is great of course. However Al’s silly lyrics and in particular his stupidly forced Cookie Monster shouting vocal is what really lets the record down. Even with the stupid lyrics if he sang normally but with a bit of venom instead of that stupid chest beating Cookie Monster crap the record would be miles ahead than it is. Al can sing but he chooses to sound like a Dingbat.
Regardless big surprise and hats off to Al musically…but not lyrically & vocally.
I’ve listened to it once, for me it’s listenable although not much stands out except Twilight Zone. The musicians can definitely play, but theres not alot of tunes. I prefered the previous album but am always up for new Ministry, so the new one will get turned up loud here soon.
Here’s my write up, track by track
I Know Words-Great use of string instruments, I quite like it. The trump samples are a bit dumb, but the music itself is enjoyable and a nice change of pace.
Twilight Zone-Probably the best track on the album, and follows the first track in a lot of sections. I like how there’s hints of older Ministry in here. I can hear bits of Cold Life, Scarecrow and Filth Pig. The song isn’t stellar, but it’s pretty cool.
Victims of a Clown-not bad. Intro is cool. The chorus has a Worm vibe. The opera samples and brass sections add a bit a coolness to it.
TV5-Nothing notable here. At least it’s short.
We’re Tired Of It-I think title speaks for itself. Worst track on the album.
Wargasm-This one has really grown on me. I dig the chorus despite it being a Killing Joke rip off.
Antifa-Some cool riffs, but I have the same opinion as some of the other “singles” off of these newer albums. Just meh.
Game Over-Not related to “The Game Is Over”, and certainly not as good. I like the pacman sounds at the end, and this one is musically more interesting than most of the songs on the album.
Amerikkka- Like the above song, there is literally another song in the Ministry catalog with the same title (America) But hey, Al can rip himself off if he wants to. Not bad, has a nice vibe to it. I like the brass sections too. I have a feeling this might grow on me.
The title of the album is a bit dumb, but I do like the cover art, even if it’s a Tackhead rip off. The strings, brass and scratching is quite cool, and definitely adds something unique. Nothing stands out lyrically or vocally, but the music is cool at times.
Going to give this a solid 2.5 out of 5.
I think we can all agree that Pac-Man dying sample is the best part of the LP haha
Al obviously stole it from one of Swamp’s battle-tools. I used to have that battle-tool too…just a 12" FULL to the rim of all the classic 70s/80s arcade game samples.
Really enjoying this new offering by Uncle Al & his cronies. I always pray that he reverts to singing again like he used to back in his heyday but its not a dealbreaker…these songs flow well together and the replay value seems endless cuz Im enjoying the record more with each listen.
After being disappointed by the last 2 albums, Amerikkkant has somewhat restored my fuzzy & gooey luv for the almighty Ministry.
my favs are Victims of a Clown, Amerikkka, Twilight Zone & WarGasm…I like how Antifa is reminiscent of Just One Fix but like more danceable…and Im glad theres only one fast song, Were Tired Of It.
I really enjoy how the guitars are more Nuwave sounding like if Devo was Industrial…this album doesnt feel all that Metallish & I think thats what works for me the most…the Cello Guy Rules and these DJ dudes are certainly a refreshing addition to the fold.
the drums seem very organic to me like this time around, an actual drummer was recorded instead of programming…thats a huge plus…I respectively give this one a 4.5 out of 5…would have given it a full 5 stars if Al would at least sing me one song like he did on Surgical Meth Machine.
Im Invisible is like so epic…wish Uncle Buck/Hypo Luxa would do a whole record of him crooning like a Jazzy lounge singer.
be well All & hope you enjoy this new Ministry opus…
ciao for now [laugh][cool][angelic]
