Reviews of AmeriKKKant

Here’s my interview with Al about the album: https://thevoidreport.com/2018/03/02/interview-al-jourgensen-talks-art-politics-new-ministry-lp-amerikkkant/

Nice interview - I like it when someone who knows what they’re talking about interviews Al. He tends to have canned responses to journalists who are just interviewing him on assignment, but when it’s a fan with some knowledge he opens up more.

It’s “Faith Collapsing” and “Dream Song” not “Dream collapsing.” [;)][/reply]

Whoops. Cheers for that.[/reply]

I’m not sure “tinny” means what you think it means.[/reply]

tinny
ˈtɪni/Submit
adjective
adjective: tinny; comparative adjective: tinnier; superlative adjective: tinniest
1.
having a displeasingly thin, metallic sound.
“tinny music played in the background”
synonyms: jangling, jangly, jingling, jingly, plinky, thin, metallic
“tinny music played in the background”
antonyms: full, round, deep
made of thin or poor-quality metal.

“Reallocation” is an anagram of “Al relocation,” so it works?

Never thought of that, so I’ll say that’s what I meant! Thanks.

And you would use those adjectives to describe the bass-heavy track “Twilight Zone”?
Mkay.

Thanks, dude! Gunnar and I were just discussing this. When it’s some regular douchebag he goes on autopilot.

Thank you!

Good reads from Twerk4Love. [:)] Looking forward to march 9, or, whenever my pre-order actually ends up in my mailbox.

Much appreciated! I was a little nervous before and during the interview, but felt like it came out well. The feedback I’ve received here is reassuring.

It was a good interview and write-up. Nice work!

This will be the first Ministry release I’ve picked up since The Last Sucker (which was deeply disappointing… it was the last Ministry album I bought without listening to it first… listening first is why I didn’t buy any of the subsequent albums…). This new one feels like more of an effort in so many ways. I’m pleased (and surprised).

How do you go about getting an interview with someone? Just curious.

I can only tell you how it’s happened for me. I started my web site about 2 years ago and started writing live reviews and album reviews. Over time, I made contact with several PR firms who eventually offered me tickets to cover live shows and later would send me advances of albums to review. Sometimes the new albums would have offers to interview the artist. I also did some writing for a site called PureGrainAudio, where I was able to make more contacts with PR companies which lead to more opportunities.

All that said, it didn’t take much writing before I was getting cool opportunities to interview folks. My site isn’t well known and my social media presence is quite meager. But, music journalism seems to be plagued by unreliable flakes and folks who inexplicably have difficulty putting words in sentences in any coherent fashion. It seems like if you’re reliable and can write decently, people welcome press for their artists.

For this interview with Al, I had developed a bit of a relationship with his management team who hooked me up with his publicist. That’s how I got the album for review and the chance to interview him.

So, have something written that you can use as a reference and send a polite email to the PR team.

It was a good interview and write-up. Nice work!.

Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it.

Is it true you named your site “The Void Report” because you are Voidhead’s A Number 1 Fan 4 Life??

You’d be surprised the things Twerk will do for a pair of humongous girl panties.

It’s true I lured him with these!

Guilty and unashamed.

Thanks for the explanation. That’s pretty interesting, actually.

agreed. thanks for sharing how it went down.

JW WATSON AIN’T THIS YOUR OLD-LADY

This one is white, my old ladys come in colors and r sand fless.
Full blooded fatty fatso, fuck you all.

That is a fantastic interview, and listening to Twilight Zone has Al somehow started being interesting again after a decade of mediocre butt metal? I can hardly believe it but I’m actually excited to hear the rest of the new album.
