Nice interview - I like it when someone who knows what they’re talking about interviews Al. He tends to have canned responses to journalists who are just interviewing him on assignment, but when it’s a fan with some knowledge he opens up more.
Its Faith Collapsing and Dream Song not Dream collapsing. [;)][/reply]
Whoops. Cheers for that.[/reply]

Thanks, dude! Gunnar and I were just discussing this. When its some regular douchebag he goes on autopilot.
Good interview.[/reply]
Let me echo this. just a good job all around.[/reply]
Much appreciated! I was a little nervous before and during the interview, but felt like it came out well. The feedback Ive received here is reassuring.
This will be the first Ministry release I’ve picked up since The Last Sucker (which was deeply disappointing… it was the last Ministry album I bought without listening to it first… listening first is why I didn’t buy any of the subsequent albums…). This new one feels like more of an effort in so many ways. I’m pleased (and surprised).
How do you go about getting an interview with someone? Just curious.
I can only tell you how its happened for me. I started my web site about 2 years ago and started writing live reviews and album reviews. Over time, I made contact with several PR firms who eventually offered me tickets to cover live shows and later would send me advances of albums to review. Sometimes the new albums would have offers to interview the artist. I also did some writing for a site called PureGrainAudio, where I was able to make more contacts with PR companies which lead to more opportunities.
All that said, it didnt take much writing before I was getting cool opportunities to interview folks. My site isnt well known and my social media presence is quite meager. But, music journalism seems to be plagued by unreliable flakes and folks who inexplicably have difficulty putting words in sentences in any coherent fashion. It seems like if youre reliable and can write decently, people welcome press for their artists.
For this interview with Al, I had developed a bit of a relationship with his management team who hooked me up with his publicist. Thats how I got the album for review and the chance to interview him.
So, have something written that you can use as a reference and send a polite email to the PR team.
That is a fantastic interview, and listening to Twilight Zone has Al somehow started being interesting again after a decade of mediocre butt metal? I can hardly believe it but I’m actually excited to hear the rest of the new album.
