The new Suicidal Tendencies album is called 13 also…
Thanks. I knew there was another one I came across lately. That was probably it. So retarded.

Such an uninspired and unoriginal title is odd…they could have literally picked anything else and it would be more interesting…how is it that a manager or agent or someone didn’t do some simple research and suggest that maybe that title was a bit played out…? …mind-boggling…
Oh yeah and the British band Blur also have an album called 13…

I know. And it’s infinitely more annoying because THIS IS SABBATH, DAMMIT!!! If it were some flavor-of-the-day generic mallmetal douchecore band like Trivium or Bullet for My Valentine or Avenged Sevenfold or something, yeah, who cares? But this is SABBATH, attempting somewhat of a “comeback” or “reunion” type album. We wait a bazillion years for the original lineup and get 3/4 of full attendance and 1/4 full effort.
Such a let down.
I hope the music holds more imagination than the album title. And yeah, I’ve said it 100 times along with everyone else, but no Ward equals BOOOOOOO!!!
Yeah,it doesn’t speak well that even at their advanced age they couldn’t figure out a way to work out the Bill Ward contract…especially after the greatly hyped promotional campaign of “the original line-up”…but then again it is very much in line with the bands fractured and frayed history…that is the problem with a good deal of these reunions…it’s lawyers before art…

Man, ain’t that the truth. How refreshing would it be if all of them just told Sharon to keep her plastic ass out of all of it and they just said, "Let’s go lock ourselves in a castle with Rick Rubin for a few months, make an effing album and split the money four ways after paying all the costs . . . "?
I really can’t think of any other band where I feel each member had equal importance to the product as a whole.
Plus, the other thing about the “original” magic of Sabbath is they were young, innocent, effed up, naive, and they just rocked the balls off the entire world because they didn’t know what they were doing. They just DID IT. I totally agree that it’s a different time and place now . . . . especially with Ozzy.
Maybe I’m over-simplifying the situation and demonizing the whore too much, but I really feel like if Sharon just stayed out of all of this it would have turned into something amazing and magical by default.
you should all know better, that’s sharon’s band now.

I think I was sort of implying this and I think that most of the people here sort of understand the same as well. Those of us who love the original Sabbath are just hoping that despite forces working against it, that somehow this project at least results in little moments of or glimpses of that past awesomeness that we all love so dearly.
The new riffs sound fucking awesome.
That’s all that matters.
Starting to think I should’ve gotten a ticket to the Melbourne shows.
Although no one would ultimately say he’s more important or better than either of the above, the most versatile singer, in my opinion, was TONY MARTIN (casual Sabbath fans won’t even know what I’m talking about here). He could deliver both eras superbly as well as his own. He was a great singer, a great performer, and a class act.
I just picked up a copy of Headless Cross the other day, for a measly $5.
I must say, although Martin’s voice takes some getting used to, it definitely has its charm. I’m pleasantly surprised.

I’m going! General Admission the first night. Only a few days after I see Tool there.
I was just curious what Tony Martin was up to these days and checked Wikipedia . . . . I didn’t realize there was bad blood between him and Sabbath. Interesting.
And thanks to whomever last mentioned the IOMMI book. I still need to pick that one up.
The first Black Sabbath album will always be special to me. My mom and dad each own a copy on vinyl. My dad taped it for me when I started to take an interest in hard rock/metal. Some of the post-Ozzy stuff is ok. I have We Sold Our Soul For Rock N Roll on CD. I give it a spin every now and then.
There are MOMENTS of brilliance in the post-Ozzy era, but with all the Ozzy Sabbath albums with the possible exception of some of “Technical Ecstasy” and “Never Say Die” I can (and do) listen to every album from start to finish with no breaks or skips. They stand untouchable as amazing pieces of art.
I really don’t know any other band that I can do that with so consistently.
[reply]What is up with every damn metal band making an album called “13”? Just friggin’ STOP IT!!!

I will check out the new Sab but I agree not having Ward on it is a huge letdown…[/reply]
The last Cure album also was 13. 4:13 Dream; 4 singles, 13th album.

That was me. You’re eternally welcome!
You should buy it. It’s interesting…has some great moments.
As a whole I will say though the guy is very dry and not very insightful.
It reads kind of like “we did this…then this happened…then this…”
However well worth it especially since you seem to be a big fan.

This again.
Though honestly, I could also do without “Changes” and a couple of the other tracks from the first 6 albums.

Feck. I really should go. I really should. Why am I not? Hmmph.
It just occurred to me that Bill Ward dropped out of the Heaven And Hell project before it actually got underway, too. And, obviously, Sharon didn’t have anything to do with that.
So maybe he really is the problem.
