Reunited Original Lineup Of BLACK SABBATH Working On New Album

They did that “Reunion” album 12 years or so back. They had a few new songs. The only one I can specifically recall is “Psycho Man”. It was all right.

That was one of 2 new songs. The other one Selling My Soul just sounded like an Ozzy bside.

Those songs were written by just Ozzy and Tony.
I wonder if they would’ve sounded different if Geezer had had a hand in composing them.

The idea of a new album fills me with dread.

Even though Black Sabbath and Vol. 4 are two of my favourite all time albums, these guys should definitely have gone the way of the dinosaur after 1979.

The 80’s and 90’s were not kind to them. Nor should they have been.

Interesting. I was just thinking the other day that those tracks sound more like ANY of those three solo efforts than it does what I would consider “Black Sabbath”. That is, it would’ve felt more at home on an Ozzy album, a GZR album, or even an IOMMI album.

I’m not expecting a whole lot from this new effort, but I’ll certainly give it a chance.

But there’s not going to be a new album!

HAHAHA!!!

Buck Satan is being released (supposedly) in 3 months.
I’ll believe anything nowadays.

Geezer wrote a ton of the material in the old Sabbath days, it would be cool to see what he could come up with…

If you want to hear what Geezer writes these days, you can check out his solo albums (released as GZR, G/Z/R, and Geezer) or the Sabbath/Heaven & Hell stuff released in the last several years.

I like Geezer’s solo stuff (or GZR or G/Z/R or whatever he’s going by). I have Black Science (thanks, Akbar!) and Ohmwork and maybe Plastic Planet, but I always seem to forget what I’ve actually bought.

And Burton was involved in G/Z/R so you can call yourself a fan of his afterall

Yeah, the Geez used a bunch of different vocalists for his stuff. I can’t remember what track(s) was Burton, though.

I just remember hearing a couple of songs with Burton and it sounded like Fear Factory but better. Geezer really knew how to join the times with what I heard from him in the 90’s.

All of Plastic Planet was Burton.

Must pick that on up then.

Legendary heavy metal band BLACK SABBATH has set “13” as the title of its new album. The group’s first LP with Ozzy Osbourne since 1978 will be released in June via Vertigo/Universal Republic in the U.S. and Vertigo in all other territories. The drum tracks on the CD were laid down by RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE sticksman Brad Wilk following original drummer Bill Ward’s decision to bow out of the reunion.

13 huh?!?

Boy, that’s a crappier title than Killing Joke’s XXVII.

And it’s not even their 13th album with Ozzy.

Yes all of Plastic Planet was Burton…and Black Science(his best one)only had one vocalist also…forget the guys name now…I really didn’t like the 3rd one at all(Ohmwork)…

For me the greatest Sab related solo work is and will always be Ward One:Along the Way…what an overlooked gem of a record…massive work…

Isn’t 13 supposed to be, like, the age of consent in Japan or something?

Anyway, just for the record (ha! geddit?) - in order of greatness:

Vol 4
Sabotage
Black Sabbath
Technical Ecstasy
Heaven And Hell
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
Paranoid
Master Of Reality
Tyr
Mob Rules
Never Say Die
Dehumanizer
Crossed Purposes
Headless Cross

I’m also expecting the new album to be ass gravy.
