Bet you didn’t think this thread would actually be about a recipe, did you?
You’re going to love me for this. I’ve been making this recipe since I was 15. It’s kind of my secret weapon.
Davelybob’s Beer Bread
3 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 1/8 teaspoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
12 oz. beer
Mix well. Pour into a greased loaf pan and bake at 375 for about an hour. Test with a toothpick to make sure it’s done.
Makes a really dense, sweet loaf of bread that is great for dessert. You can use any kind of beer, or malt liquor, or hard cider/lemonade, etc. You can put nuts, fruit, chocolate chips in it, or put a glaze on top while it’s cooking. Made an awesome loaf last night with Killian’s red, substituted brown sugar for half of the sugar, and stirred in some pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, and a pinch of ginger and clove. Very versatile and super simple recipe.
Enjoy. I have a couple other killer recipes, but I think I’ll wait and see what delicacies y’all put forth. Prongs cookbook anyone?
My wife makes some healthy food for me and I really don’t hog out very often. It’s when she goes out with her friends and leaves me unattended that I sometimes return to my experiments.
