dumb question but where do u get decibel? do u subscribe? i can’t find it anywhere. tried multiple Borders and B&Ns,
I like Type O…probably will grab this release.
I was thinking of downloading it, but it’s on neither iTunes nor emusic.
The album feels like a compilation because they seem to recycle ideas generously from their entire back catalogue. Not that this is a bad thing necessarily since I still like their early stuff the most (the hardcore influenced stuff) and there is some of that here.
Is there any similarity to ‘October Rust’ on the new album?
Picked this up last night.
Profit of Doom and September Sun are kind of like October Rust. The main difference between this one and their classic albums is that there’s not a lot of humor here. Halloween in Heaven is kind of jokey I guess, but there’s no goofy throwaway tracks and no silly cover song.
I really dig this release… The songwriting is a lot better than on the previous albums and many of the riffs are very memorable (for example “These Three Things”).
Im kinda worried about the whole born-again christian thing though.
Cant get my damn hands on it yet. It was supposed to be released on Monday 19th in Europe but it still is unavailable in every place ive checked. Tower Records who usually get stuff in earlier than its expected dont even have any Type O albums in their store at the moment. Maybe its to do with their new record label or something.[mad]
You’re not missing much since TON suck live…
[reply]I picked Dead Again up this afternoon. So far I like what I hear in general, at least that’s the first impression. I do like the earlier, more hardcore stuff better. Type O has always been a bit of an acquired taste for most people I think, a bit like Black Sabbath with Dracula on vocals.
OK, I think I’m changing my mind on DA. Why does the religious right, err I mean Christian Taliban have to make everything suck. And now TON has succumbed to their evil influence. I don’t want to be preached to and I definitely don’t want to have paid to listen to it. I don’t care what you believe but keep it in your church, temple, mosque , synagogue Ack…[/reply]
Huh?
“Dead Again” is the best Christian rock album since Current 93’s “Black Ships Ate the Sky”.
I think this is their best since October Rust. I’m glad they brought back some of the old Carnivore sound, too.
eventually got it and I must say fairly impressed. its the best thing they have done in 10 years and is in my opinion second only to ‘October Rust’ in the T.O.N. catalogue. Best tracks are September Sun, Halloween in Heaven, These Three Things, She Burned Me… and All Hail and Farewell to Britain. Though im wary of Pete’s ‘born again’ Christian message you cant deny its the most effort they have put into an album in a while. Love the Tsarist Russian iconography aswell.
After many listenings, I’d say this is one of the best albums of the year so far, along with Grinderman and Year Zero.
I have heard the Grinderman single… or whatever the song was with the video… not bad, there was something about it I really liked, and something that made me indifferent…
I wanna hear more TON, i have bloody kisses and world coming down… everyone always says october rust is good, i’ve only heard one or maybe 2 songs off it… the earliier stuff is supposed to be pretty different too… dunno… anyone heard any Carnivore?
Carnivore is early New York hardcore with very explicit (and fairly amusing) lyrics. Basically, you’re dealing with sloppily performed thrash metal with a distinct hardcore element and with growled vocals. Early T0N is not much different, although there are a few gothic elements added here and there. Still, a lot of the material from the first TON album was stuff that was written by Carnivore but never recorded…
They’ve been my Brooklyn boys for almost EVER. And the new album is fucking DIVINE. No SD&H… but still awesomecore.

I recommend you pick up ‘October Rust’ stairwell, imo their best album. Its their least heaviest but its their most atmospheric album. whenver I hear something new of theirs or stuff i havent heard already i always compare it to ‘October Rust’
I own Bloody Kisses. I like their cover of summer breeze!! I saw them in concert, they opened for Danzig in Oct of 94. They played over an hour. KICKED ASS! I never picked up another album though.

I saw them open for Pantera. Quite the downer before Dime & Co. I think I spent most of their set drinking somewhere… damn youth.

That is an odd pairing. I can see how there could be an appeal within Danzig crowd… Not so much with Pantera…
“This guy think he’s a vampire…WTF? KICK HIS ASS!!!”
