Carnivore is early New York hardcore with very explicit (and fairly amusing) lyrics. Basically, you’re dealing with sloppily performed thrash metal with a distinct hardcore element and with growled vocals. Early T0N is not much different, although there are a few gothic elements added here and there. Still, a lot of the material from the first TON album was stuff that was written by Carnivore but never recorded…
“Predator” has got to be one of the GREATEST tracks in the history. You take horribly engineeered thrash, blend it with half-assed hardcore/grindcore, and throw in Pete screaming “VAGINAS!!!” and such for five minutes… Pure genius.
