There’s at least one Foo Fighters song out there that can touch your heart.
Look at this cool video with Dave Grohl:

You can still like Grohl for his work with Killing Joke, Nine Inch Nails, Tenacious D, Probot, and Queens of the Stone Age.
Yeah, that Killing Joke record with Grohl was RAD.
“The Colour & The Shape” was an alright record, but beyond that I could give a shit about Foo Fighters. Don’t really care for QOTSA either- they’re not bad or anything, but all my friends seem to worship them and it’s just SOOOOOOO played out.
Always thought that Grohl was not so much a really cool guy (I can come up with probably a thousand different musicians I’d rather hang out with than him) as much as it would be really cool to be him and be able to hook up and play with all your childhood heroes, like he did with Probot. Seriously, that guy can ask to play with whoever he wants, and no one will turn him down. I guess Prince turned him down when Foo wanted to cover one of his songs, but then Prince did that Foo Fighters song at the Superbowl. The guy is incredibly lucky in that respect. Dave Grohl has magical rays of sunshine coming out his butthole.
I enjoy Grohl and most of his ventures…besides the fact that the guy has one hell of a sense of humour…which makes him more likeable than all them other leftovers from the grunge era…oh yeah and Kim Thayil seems like a real cool dude to kick it with. I like his work with Sunn o)).

I don’t know what the Superbowl song is you’re referring to, but I know that a couple years ago Foo Fighters covered one of Prince’s songs “Darling Nikki”.
Okay, they put out Darling nikki as a B-Side in Australia, but Prince wouldn’t let them release it in the US:

and here’s Prince at the 2007 superbowl halftime show playing “Best Of Me” (starts around 6:00 in, after “All Along The Watchtower”.

Interesting. The radio station down here played the heck out of that Nikki track. I didn’t realize it wasn’t even released here.
I didn’t say anything good about Grohl’s music. I’m about as apathetic as you could get about most of it. And I really can’t stand much of the Foo Fighters.
I just think he seems like a pretty rad dude. I wish I liked his music so I could kiss his ass over something a little more meaningful that “just being rad”, but I can’t.
But then again, I never got all the hype about Melvins either . . . . but yet, I think BUZZ is totally awesome as well. I met him a couple times and he was always really genuine and cool in person too.
Come to think of it, I probably don’t like much of anything that people around here think is cool.
THAT’S ALRIGHT GUNNAR. I THINK THAT YOU ARE A COOL PERSON.

I seriously need an interpreter for your posts… second one I’ve totally misinterpreted. I get what yer saying now. I don’t know… he seems like a nice chap, but I’d still kick him in the scro tho for not coming up with the sort of ideas Buzzo and Dale seem to poop out without even trying. Well, that’s a bit harsh. I’d probably not cover my hand if I sneezed around him.
But, I guess that’s like picking on the class dunce. The extremely rich, successful and famous dunce. [laugh]
Speaking of Prince, has anyone seen what Kevin Smith had to say about Prince? That shit is epic…
that price cover is one of the only foo fighter songs i like. although there are decent songs on the colour and shape.
dave grohl has the worst forearm tatoos. and foo fighters is boring. (no apologies-all puns intended).
oh god. i have to go to sleep. but anyways… MY favorite take ( registered trademark) is that nirvana was a beatles cover band. chew on that.
Yeah i thought the FF were good when they were’nt trying to be all serious. Did’nt Paul work with Albini on the first pigface? (I read Al was’nt to cool with S. A. going back to twitch years) I often wondered what a record like filth pig or darkside would have been like had they let someone else produce

I would imagine albini doesn’t get along with a lot of folks. I’ve. Seen interviews with him and he comes off as such an eltitist dick. I heard in an interview some dude in a punk band body slammed him in front of the old wax trax! Store in chicago. Just threw his ass down right there on the sidewalk.

Legend has it Albini once had this say to about Al, or something to this effect:
"Steve Albini once put it in a Chicago Weekly: “If Al Jourgensen continues to make sissy as shit Dance-pop records like this i’m going to Cut off his balls, shove this in his throat and Sew his mouth shut”
HAHAHA!!! Maybe all these crappy cover albums are Al’s big Eff-You to Albini then. Little twerp obviously hasn’t delivered on his promise.
perhaps albini has the time to think about al. i doubt it. don’t quite know what albini is up to today, and i never had a decent conversation with that guy even though he was in the store regularly, although not as regularly as others. after the fact, i found out albini let the blackouts hang out on his floor when they toured in chicago. paul remembers that. so, albini, for all his squirrellyness gets a pass.
I can see Albini being into The Blackouts.
I’m a big fan of Albini’s stuff - from Big Black to Shellac. Rapeman (with Rey Washam on drums) was particularly good. Plus he recorded the early Jesus Lizard records. Big win there!
I feel that if you really believe ‘Bleach’ is better than Nirvana’s commercially successful material, it’s because you want to be too cool and underground.
Also, Big Black is the shit.
I like Courtney. She’s a crusty, out-of-control, dopefiend rocker. I don’t care about most of her music, but I find her junkie antics to be kind of endearing.
Y’know…and here’s something for the record books, kiddies…Hole’s Live Through This is actually a really good album (personality notwithstanding).
Yeah that’s right. You heard me say it. A really good album.
I never cared for Nirvana. The only songs I really like are their cover of that Meat Puppets song which I guess was a cover of a Leadbelly song or something. I think it’s called “Lake of Fire”. And there was some other song that came out like 10 years after he died. “Got No Rights” or something . . .
Um…yeah. I do like Nirvana. Not sure which album I like best. Guess I’ll have to whimp out somewhat and say Nevermind, as it has Lounge Act and Something In The Way. Plus, the production is stellar.
I don’t know about him being the voice of a generation though. Always got the impression Cobain was something of a loner and probably a real downer to hang around. A bit like me really - and I’m definitely no voice of no generation.
