Re: LiG and more BlightâŚ
[:)]
Paul will indeed concentrate on the LIG thing, senor icepick.I do owe you some swag from the wax thing, and you owe me some. remember? I may have a shirt sitting around.
Workinâ on it.
I was at the Experience Music Projct in Seattle today, and came across video snippets referencing the Blackouts. I âbootleggedâ and will post em at some point, but I was just curious if Paul or Roland were aware of the band being featured in the Nirvana: bringing punk to the masses exhibit.
[on a side note, i totally scored a Blackout 7 inch!!!]
donât think Paul or Rolando really care, but thanks.and btw, nirvana was a pretty boring band . and miss courteney thing, donât get me started,
I donât know about ye guys but I cannot find anything likeable about Courtney Love. Iâd detest her if I cared about who she is. Itâs a deal breaker for me. I could not (come to think of it, have not) trust(ed) someone because they are fond of her. I havenât got around to watching Straight to Hell yet, partly because sheâs in it (and I want to see it for other reasons).
And I know that is totally stupid of me.
I think Nirvana are alright, but I went specifically to see any mention of Mark Lanegan/Screaming tress, which there was hardly any of.
Suffered a facial contusion at work, and it feels as if my whole fac eis bleeding [maybe internaly, but not externally]. Already went to the e.r, but might have to go back.
So iâll upload the video mention and photos later.
Nirvana was okay but I liked them better when they were called The Melvins
Straight To Hell was a bad movie, stick to Repo Man
Courtney Love is a hack
nirvana was great. their simplicity is what made them great. courtney love is satan. she killed kurt. that is all.
Nirvana had its momentsâŚthat is until Courtney stuck her nose in and killed itâŚI lost interest after that one popular album with a baby on it. Kind of similar to the way a lady killed ministry.
I like Courtney. Sheâs a crusty, out-of-control, dopefiend rocker. I donât care about most of her music, but I find her junkie antics to be kind of endearing.
I never cared for Nirvana. The only songs I really like are their cover of that Meat Puppets song which I guess was a cover of a Leadbelly song or something. I think itâs called âLake of Fireâ. And there was some other song that came out like 10 years after he died. âGot No Rightsâ or something . . .
I donât know why people get so emo when talking about Nirvana and Kurt and Courtney. One side will jump up and down and swear that he was the voice of our generation and the Jesus Christ of modern rock or something. And then the other will say that they sucked ass and . . . . who cares. Either you like it or you donât. I donât, but I canât really deny the bandâs impact on the popular music scene of the time (and to come), and Kurtâs endurance as an âiconâ.
I do think Dave Grohl is one of the coolest mofoâs on earth, though. I couldnât care less about the Foo Fighters. I just think heâs a badass dude who seems like heâd be awesome to hang out with and talk about metal.

I found one Foo Fighters song that I like, maybe because it doesnât sound like Foo Fighters.
I donât think thereâs any Nirvana I dislike. Even their âbreakthroughâ shit still came across as pretty genuine. I think itâs a bit cynical just to say because it had a good sense of harmonic rhythm and melody that theyâd âsold outâ or whatever. You could throw that accusation at the Beatles or whatever. 3 chords is all they knew from beginning to start.
Mick⌠spot on about ânot trusting anyone who liked Courtney Loveâ. Past two girlfriends I had loved her and everything she did and⌠letâs not go there.
Then again, I liked Live Through This.
As for Dave Grohl, gotta disagree with you there, Gunnar.
He should know better, to quote King Buzzo. Buzzo was saying that if he had the money Cornell and Grohl did, heâd be able to pull off projects far beyond what heâs currently capable off purely because of the money factor. These guys have the dosh. They came from the same scene. They do know better. But they just put out album after album of homogenous shit. As for everyone jerking off over Grohl putting out the âProbotâ album⌠seriously, that was just average metal at itâs best. Heaps better stuff out there getting released every day. None of Grohlâs stuff is that bad- itâs just exceptionally ordinary, save for Them Crooked Vultures⌠which, come to think of it, really was underwhelming given the âstar powerâ involvedâŚ[:/]
nirvana and albini are still boring. but albini came out ahead. and he knows it.
Straight To Hell is awesome.
Also Revengers Tragedy.
I didnât say anything good about Grohlâs music. Iâm about as apathetic as you could get about most of it. And I really canât stand much of the Foo Fighters.
I just think he seems like a pretty rad dude. I wish I liked his music so I could kiss his ass over something a little more meaningful that âjust being radâ, but I canât.
But then again, I never got all the hype about Melvins either . . . . but yet, I think BUZZ is totally awesome as well. I met him a couple times and he was always really genuine and cool in person too.
Come to think of it, I probably donât like much of anything that people around here think is cool.
Everlong is one of the best songs of all time and I donât even know why itâs so great. Itâs the only song by FF I love. It doesnât even sound like them.
