Gerda, I saw the History in Reverse album a few days ago here in Bellingham and couldn’t help but notice that it was pressed in Olympia or something of the sort. Is Paul familiar with the Olympia area? What was his story with his time here in the Pacific Northwest?

Thanks

dude, i live in olympia, wa. been here for 3 years now, i love it… the music here leans to the hipster side of things though… just saying.

also, did gerda just call me a worm?

No way man! Olympia’s a pretty cool area, but being just under 21 it was getting boring. I scored a Filth Pig LP at Phantom City Records for 5 bucks some months ago.

nice cheap beer ref.

HAHA! dude, i cleaned out their type o section a while ago to use as gifts haha.

do you head out to a lot of the hardcore/death shows in the area? because if so you may have seen me playing.

andyeah, i really love oly, i just wish there werent so many gross hipsters drinking pabst everywhere… haha.

Yeah the whole hipster thing to me is the new “scene”, “goth”, “emo” whatever name that people give others. Hipster seems to have a very broad definition… And being from Milwaukee originally I gotta say it’s sad to see PBR casted away as some sort hipster beer.

Currently I attend WWU in Bellingham and am located up here, but I’ve been to some death metal shows down in Olympia. I have a friend in a ever name changing metal band. I believe they’re called “Thou Shall Kill” or some shit.

i donno about them, but my old band UNWILLING PARTICIPANT won some poll as best band in olympia! haha. it was nice to hear that.

you can snag out 2nd album up for free here

http://rustyhack-sawrecords.bandcamp.com/album/our-bodies-will-burn-like-sage

comes with a free live boot too…

but yeah man, ima snag your band’s album tonight and give it a spin and get into it over the next few daysand sent you a big review!

I have a fun image in my head of hipsters trying to stomach the end of a PBR can.

I have a fun image in my head of hipsters trying to stomach the end of a PBR can.

They do it and I don’t know how.

I like nasty gutter beer (call me the Cobra Commander) but fuck does PBR get me hungover before I’m even buzzed.

I love PBR. I drank it by the case in college . . . .

. . . but that was primarily because it was about $3.00 for a 12 pack. I would never buy a can of Pabst for $6.

Seeing that REM have recently announced their end as a band how long before Bill and Paul rejoin forces?

Actually Bill Rieflin and Peter Buck play with Robert Fripp sometimes as Slow Music - they mostly gig but if you can find it they have put out some rare CDr’s…

I heard they’re great, and it’s Fripp so how can you lose?

As far as hipsters, um…yeah they are all into PBR in Williamsburg. It’s not a taste thing, because most prefer Brooklyn Brewery. I’d rather drink PBR than that shit, believe it or not

Alright I think I’ve deciphered the code to one answer one of my questions. I am NOT allowed to share Pink Anvil ‘New Years Eve Party’ with the forum.

Now the next two:

  • Will it get a proper release so they can actually BUY it?
  • Will it be mastered?

I don’t want what we don’t need…

Gerda, can you ask Paul if he will join my band Nursing Home?

http://www.nursinghome.bandcamp.com

Please ask him to listen to the song “Cocaine Cliche” I think he will like it. Thank you!

Hail Milwaukee!

when i was younger and had less monies, PBR was the way to go. But it just gives me the worst liquashits the next day and the most awful heartburn as i try and stay passed out from it. So i heartily endorse Miller High Life: the Champagne of Beers!

I was at a show the other night and for cheap beer they served tallboys, either PBR for $4.50 or Heineken for $5. Of course the ridiculous hipsters in the audience had to maintain their image by ordering PBR’s when there was an undeniably much better beer for 50 cents more. Ridiculous!

I drank PBR before I had money, heh. There’s a bar here that sells 50 cent draft of the stuff…thought I was drinking piss. But I used to buy two at the time, drink about 10-12 of them just to get anywhere. I moved on and now drink stuff like Guinness, newcastle, etc. Worst beer ever though - Natural. Holy fuck that’s terrible. The hipsters here drinking natty also. Busch is another.

Heineken is terrible. Forget anti-hipster cred, PBR is just a better beer. And if it also costs less . . . Well, that’s a no-brainer.

and now drink stuff like Guinness, newcastle, etc.

I’ll jump om this bus!!!
Not a big beer fan. I usually only drink beer socially but ever those odd moments hit me at home, that’s what I go for. ^ I don’t mind Amber Bach either.

Never had pabst. Never had the curiosity for it. I’ve always wanted to try stroh’s, though, but they don’t sell it in my neck of the dirt.
