PROTESTS, RIOTS, DESTRUCTION..... US in Chaos

“Broken windows policing” is an extremely funny phrase if you’re Chicano.

Following on the “Defund the Police” topic. I thought it was weird too, and pretty reactionary and chickenshit for the most part. Anyway, I guess we’ll see how this plays out. Minneapolis just voted to disband their police force . . . . though they don’t actually have any actual plan of what their new theoretical “community public safety” model will look like. They’re just going to figure it out on the way.
Call me skeptical, but . . . . . yeah, I suspect it’ll just be a bunch of Barney Fife’s running around flailing their arms and begging Andy to let them take their one bullet out of their shirt pocket. We’ll see

Well, i get it. You have to defund the police, because otherwise the police unions come in and put a stop to any type of change trying to take place.

You saw this union busting tactic with hostess. File for bankruptcy and then bring it back union free.

It sucks it has to be this way because im a big supporter of unions But i definitely see the problems with them in this instance. In hostess’ situation it was total bullshit. Some greedy ceo wanted to pay the workers less so he busted the union. In this case it would seem justified since it seems to be a barrier to progress.

Is EVERY police (sheriff, trooper, etc.) agency unionized, or is that up to the particular jurisdictions (city, county, state, whatever)? I mean, prior to today, of course, as it seems some or all of it may be changing. I really just don’t have a grasp of what it presently even is.

I think it’s one giant union and then each precinct has it’s own union which belongs to the giant union. It’s kinda like that for teaching. Each public school district has it’s own union but those Districts’ unions fall under CTA… or the NEA. I don’t think the NEA is as prolific in Cali but I could be wrong. I’ve never really had to use the union other than voting in contract ratification stuff… Hopefully I never do, but I’m at the top of the salary scale and have many years to go.

So, it really is a tactic by administrators to try to dismiss teachers who “make too much” in order to bring in cheaper teachers. So administrators start hounding older teachers, and singling them out for harassment. Their Teaching style/effectiveness has little to with their admin wanting them and if it weren’t for the union they would be bounced for cheaper/newer teachers.

The ugly truth is Admin would take a shitty cheap teacher over an expensive effective teacher.

My concern is that “private protection agencies” will come in to take the police’s place. The corporate for profit jails will have their own private defense forces that will work as recruiting officers for slave labor.

Always a concern. And trying to monetize it like a business will be even worse. Which is exactly what they will do. You really will see quotas and shit like that because there will be a bottom line and growth charts and shit for things that have nothing to do with justice. And who will they get to run it? Ex Law enforcement so the same assholes who were given will be hired back and called “CEO” or “consultant” and how legit will their authority be? Will they come in and take over the buildings and resources of the current PD? Too many questions and dark alleys linked with this.

Everybody should read this.

Great article, probably the best take I’ve read

Capitalism requires a permanent underclass to exploit for cheap labor and it requires the cops to bring that underclass to heel.

No truer words ever written

We imagine a world not divided into good guys and bad guys, but rather a world where people’s needs are met and those in crisis receive care, not dehumanization.

Been saying this for years

I guess hes got no one else and had to come back to keep from being alone…
Jesus i guess that means even he doesnt like his own company.

of course we already knew he wasnt a man of his word so why would anyone be surprised he came back for whatever reason?

shit is crazy. i haven’t read everything posted here. just wanted to say that i’m noticing a divide in white people. it’s pretty damn consistent too.

the other day I expressed agitation to someone at work, just from the day to day. I said something like “jesus, with this pandemic and the race war we are having things sure are weird”. I didn’t mean a thing by it. i probably shouldn’t have said that, considering, but i didnt’ mean anything but it and probably won’t say it again. But some white lady in my office took it that i was perturbed by the BLM protests and she sent me some video of a black man posted about how he thought black people were wrong. Personally, I felt she sent me this to make me feel better about the black uprising in that its not right and she thought that’s what i meant. i didn’t i just was saying “it’s weird out there”. it’s the subtle things.

then not so subtle things like the guy pulling a chainsaw on BLM protesters.

As white people become the Minority in the states…probably another 10-25 yrs, there will be much more of what we see today in the future. As this has already started…you can see the resistance and it isn’t going to be a smooth ride letting it go whatever that really means by saying “it”.

Considering the Internet average for “going away forever” is 2 hours and 11 minutes, I’ll give a solid B grade for lasting a few days.

Well if you take into consideration the troll account he made he really only made it about 45 min…

Fine. We’ll average it out to a solid D+. Slightly better than the worst.

This terrifies the shit out of some because they know how they feel about minorities and how shitty they have treated minorities. becoming the minority… they think they know what awaits them so they freak the fuck out thinking they see the writing on the wall.

I live in Miami…whites have been the minority here for quite some time…I’m cool with it…

Now would be a good time to start working on the prequel to “Logan’s Run” (1975). I’ve thought it might be interesting to tell the story of how civilization winds up living in a domed city in the future with everyone guaranteed a certain standard of living, pleasure for all, but no one lives past 30 years (aka “renewal”) due to population control and scare resources.
