Then we’ve got this fucking nut. They went easy in this guy, he should have been beat until he couldn’t get up. They did beat his ass and burn his car. But I’ll be damned if he didn’t give an interview to a tv station and said he was jumped by “black African-American Men”. Holy shit take this man down.
I really don’t like that the media (and a lot of the leaders) use the terms “demonstrators” or “protestors” in reference to the mobs burning down their community’s small businesses and pulling innocent people out of cars and beating them.
This is Kaps time to shine. Put your money where your mouth is guy. I wanna see him marching alongside these people and taking leadership and coordinate this thing
This is already a losing battle. People are talking more about the response to the injustice than they are about the injustice. The battle is lost. The focus is no longer racist murder but stealing. Downright shameful. Really the rioting and looting should not detour focus from the ugly reality that instigated the “demonstrators”/“Protestors.” And frankly this has has been a problem for the black community for literally hundreds years. if a few businesses have to burn… well we as a society get what we get for letting this bullshit carry on for forever.
Instead of firing these racist pieces of shit, destroying their livelihood, and exterminating their genetic code from the gene pool, they are covered for, and protected. Excuses are made, even laws passed to protect their ass. It’s disgusting and as far as I’m concerned the reaction doesn’t concern me because after so long I would expect a reaction.
Trevor Noah has a really well reasoned take on why the looting. It’s 18 minutes long, but honestly it’s really worth watching as it puts it all within a context that makes perfect sense
I spent all last night watching on fb, Twitter and IG and it was chaos. For every tear shed over a Target or a Cheesecake Factory, watch people get shot in the face with rubber bullets, run over by suvs, trampled on by horses and thrown to the curb and ask yourself why watching a store get looted is so much worse than watching a person get brutalized by an “authority” figure, the same diet of authority who is there to serve and protect.
Yeah, I think the looting is wrong but honestly it’s so much less to me than what brought it on that I have a hard time caring about it as a “wrong”
PS: watching John Cusak live tweet the Chicago protests and having his bicycle attacked by cops was insane.
The Minneapolis DA could help this situation out a lot if they would just fucking charge those other 3 cops. As it stands, they have done the absolute bare minimum and that is fueling the rage.
I got half way through this this and the kids acted up… So, I’ll finish later. Good thoughts so far. His point about that white lady using the cops as a tool for her racism was on point and the very definition of white privilege
I was outraged and sickened when the video emerged last Monday evening of George Floyd’s death. I became even more concerned when they didn’t make any arrests right away that it would only aggravate an already volatile situation. Add to it the millions that have lost their jobs in recent weeks and have been pent up from the lock downs, and it feels like the “perfect storm” for broad, civil unrest. One can hope that meaningful change will emerge from all of this.
No kidding. How many targets have been “murdered” versus how many black people in the past 10 years? Fuck, how about the last month? Target being murdered effects us for sure but Not nearly the way the killing of black people Effects us. The rioting and looting is a non issue. Stop killing people and doing nothing about it and you wont have to worry about the poor targets of the country. Youre right on the nose, vic. Some on this board are easily distracted with the symptoms rather Than the causes. But ive been calling them stupid (and pointing it out) for years.
Black people are dying at the hands of the authorities and you wanna talk about the broken windows?! the multiple broken windows are more important than the multiple black lives that have been destroyed and and cannot be replaced like the easily replaced broken windows. Goddamn you are one stupid fuck! Talk about not caring because it doesnt affect you. That’s your whole fucking existence.
Right, says the guy who gives more of a shit about broken windows. You are a horrible fucking person. This does affect you whether you wanna believe it or not, at the very least in the sense that it closes your favorite shopping spots. Although it affects you in more ways but your just too fucking stupid to see any if it.
Youre back on ban, don’t bother writing back, I skip your diarrhea laden prose. I accidentally read your caveman musings to vic. You fuckin piece of shit. Youre whats wrong with country. Hopefully you havent instilled your greed and lack of morals on your daughters. Hopefully theyre smart enough to see “dad’s an out of touch piece of shit.”
Have a nice day.
My condolences to the families of those broken windows. You’re right, I’m trivializing because I don’t give a shit about property damage. Windows are broken. Walls are spraypainted. Shit will get fixed eventually. You know what can’t be undone or mitigated? Police brutality.
Well said vic, and without all my zero tolerance cursing at this shit stain. “Black people are dying at the hands of the authorities, lets talk about The goddamn cvs.”
Jello said 25 years ago…
“When you leave people to rot in jails and ghettos [and kill them on a whim] they may feel justified in coming back to rob and kill you, duh.”
Also, not to use Prongs as an example of anything but it’s not like any of us (who I’m guessing are predominantly upper millennial and middle aged men) were talking about any of the systemic racism until the looting started.
Also, I spent a decade living in Minneapolis and seeing some of my favorite stores burnt down and worrying for some of my friends small businesses does make this personal. So much of MPLS has gotten really boringly gentrified in the past decade since I left and a lot of what’s burning are the non-gentrified genuinely cool areas. It’s tragic and it bugs the fuck out of me that developers will probably use this as a chance for some cheap grab to buy more property to gentrify. And even so, I recognize that after so many cases of cops murdering black people, carnage (even on this scale) is a small price to pay as a society for opening this impossible dialog on racism.
Finally, really surprised Al has been quiet. You’d think this is what he’s been waiting years to talk about, same with KMFDM’s Sascha who rode riot and rebellion all the way to the bank but remains quiet when it’s happening.
