Recording update: We’re almost done with tracking for all songs. Then comes the task of figuring out which 10-13 songs stand out the most and doing final mixes. After that on to mastering. Art design. Then determining the best way to get Primitive Race into your hands and ears! Barring delays the record will be mastered sometime in late November with an early 2014 release.
We’re an industrial project featuring Chris Vrenna, Burton C Bell, Luc
Van Acker, Raymond Watts, Dave Ogilvie, Mark Thwaite, Graham Crabb, Erie
Loch, Chris Kniker and more!

Came here to post this. It cracks me up. It’s not phenomenal, but it’s fun.
[laugh]
yeah… that sample is awful.
140 lb balls, eh? Is that a song about Erie’s boobs?
It’s not bad bad, but does sound pretty generic. And honestly, I think im only interested in the stuff Watts is on.
It’s shitty. Sounds like watered down PWEI.
And wasn’t the original mission statement #MoreNoiseLessOontz ???
Plenty of “oontz” there.

It sounded no better than any of the 5 billion generic industrial metal wannabes making songs on their Super Nintendos in their mom’s basements.
Seriously, EVERY work that I’ve checked out by Prongers that have posted their musical efforts on this board is MUCH BETTER than this hogwash.
All star pile of ass.
You can make songs on a Super Nintendo?
Apparently.
You can make songs on a Super Nintendo?
There’s a guy in my city that does DJ sets using Game Boys and PSPs as instruments. It’s legit.
Also THIS:
$225 to go until our next sound clip. This one might have a little Swine or “Rave” to it.
A few years ago I was searching stupid/weird music genres and came across with nintendocore…
Awww! You are all [url https://twitter.com/primitiverace/status/385992671103160320]upsetting Knicker now!

Ahahahah. I don’t even think we’ve said anything of the sort. I think our only criticisms of the band have been the almost Martin Atkins level of promotion and the ridiculous lineup, and that last point is primarily because the “next big thing” in contemporary industrial being a bunch of the guys from the '80s and '90s (plus Erie and New Guy) seems kind of off somehow.
I’m thinking the name Primitive Race is a piss-take at the band itself, maybe toward “industrial” in general. Hell, on the sampler, Ray Watts is singing they’re all “long in the tooth.”
Primitive Race might be the Portlandia of industrial.
Meta.
There’s a new snippet up and it’s not as catchy as 140 lb. Balls. (Why such a specific weight? LOL)
Yeah, I know I’ve never said any of those dudes were bad to their fans.
I just said they’re a bunch of idiot circus clowns and that a particular FB / PR guy in their employ is a whiny emo faggit that plays the victim card all too often and wants us to pity him like Corky from “Life Goes On”, and that another particular “musician” is a greasy disgusting pile of talentless lard, and that their so-called music sounds like something that an 8 year old made on his Colecovision, and that only an idiot would give them money to get a paper bag puppet and some downloads . . . .
But I’ve never said they were bad to their “fans”***.
***I will also point out the irony of calling FB followers “fans” when up until yesterday the most “music” that they had put up was a 1 second clip of Erie taking a dump on a mixing board.
He’s got a shitty attitude, and he treats what “fans” he has like they’re some petty annoyance.
Went back and read some of our discussion on this. Here’s something I said, and still stand by.
I didn’t say “mean”, I said he had a shitty attitude towards his fans. And I still say that. At least to the fans who have been asking to hear some music from him.
Who knows what forum he’s talking about though. I won’t be so presumptuous to assume it was this one.
My main gripe about it how how they/he uses they cheesy marketing gimmicks, yet has nothing to really show for it. Obviously, people bought the bags, and so on. But, i’d like to have an idea on what you’re trying to get me to spend money on. One little snippet isn’t going to do it. Lineup isn’t bad aside from Erie, who I think is pretty mediocre. The other guys, i’m not too concerned about. Crabb brought back the coke zero version of PWEI.
And i’m on the Watts bandwagon as well. This Knicker guy seriously has his panties on a little too tight.
Hi guys,
I came across the board through a friend a couple days ago. I wasn’t sure if I should join and post or not. But, I figured what the hell? I’m glad so many of you have noticed my little project. I think a few of you have me all wrong. This has been a set of trial and error. There’s been some mistakes along the way. I thought it would be cool to be as transparent as possible. I want anyone who is interested in it to feel like they’re valued and involved in some way. I’ve received “industry” advice from some friends I’ve worked with for years. Some of it turned out to be good. Some of it not so much. A&R types in particular were adamant that I shouldn’t post sound clips until everything was done.
As for the CP thing. Apparently the meaning of my post was completely taken out of context. My purpose was to try and inspire anyone to not give up on their passion. To follow through and try and take a dream as far you can. It was meant to be something uplifting. Instead somehow there were some that took it as a “woe is me”. So I took it down. On a good note I met some people that certainly aren’t as fortunate as me and they said my post helped them.
Social media is a funny thing. A lot of what I say/do is tongue-in-cheek. Sometimes things go over better than others. Sometimes I stir the pot because for whatever reason people seem to enjoy the drama. The car crash they can’t turn away from.
Some projects I work with that are on a much larger scale than this have been curious about crowd funding. We’ve never done it. So, in an effort to figure out what works and doesn’t I figured this was the perfect testing spot on a small scale. There were people following the project asking if they could get stuff so I took a shot. Believe me the ROI is not something any of you would think was worth it if you were doing it (haha). However, I will say it helped build an audience better than anything else we’ve done to date. Once the first project was complete I was spent on crowd funding. There was a guy that designed a shirt and he’s so excited about the project after a couple of days I thought I better sack up and give it a shot. This guy wanted to be a part of the project in his own way. I wasn’t going blow him or his enthusiasm off.
Everything to this point has been word of mouth. I know multiple publicists but I don’t want to use them right now. I want this to be grass roots. Its taken countless hours. I know there has been some debate as to why we’re doing things “backwards”. It has to do with the industry’s desire/need/requirement that an artist have a measurable following already in existence. Even with established guys involved the industry still looks at it as a start up band. They literally use social media analytic data to determine their interest/validity in working with a project. Not just labels either. Indie distributors, PR firms, and radio promotion firms use this as well. The industry wants a turn-key solution they can run through their assembly line. With this in mind it puts me in the position of “begging” for likes.
I absolutely value everyone that is interested in the project. None of you are an “annoyance” to me. If you were I wouldn’t spend the time I do interacting. I’d find another project or hobby to put my heart and time into. I hate when there are things going on I can’t talk about in a public forum yet. I hate the feeling of not being able to share content with everyone.
If you don’t like the music I get that (but keep in mind they are unfinished demos). There’s a lot of stuff out there I don’t like. Believe me we’re all putting in the best level of effort we can to create the coolest thing we can. Its a lot of fun. Its also fun to read through this thread and see some of you “get” some of the tongue-in-cheek stuff. A bunch of older musicians calling themselves Primitive Race with a song Long In The Tooth for example. There’s some humor in there and I love that it hasn’t gone unrecognized by some of you.
Anyway, thanks for reading. I promise I’m not some asshole that looks down on anyone. I’m very approachable and love to chat. I’ve made a lot of cool friends I never would have met without this vehicle. Maybe some of you will be as well.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
