[ What Do You Know Deutschland and Nihil are my favorite albums
Yeah they’re both great.
My fav was Uaioe.
I ended up selling all my KMFDM stuff as a bundle a loooong time ago as I became bored to death of them. In the end they were releasing pure cheese and their so called Ultra Heavy Beat became rather lame. Maybe I just out grew them??? I was a huge fan at one stage and had all of their albums up to WWIII.
Adios was another one I quite liked as far as later albums went.
Adios was the last one I cared about.
I still put some on every now and then when I’m feeling nostalgic, but it’s not a band that’s stuck with me the way some other similar stuff from that era (Ministry, NIN, Skinny Puppy) has.
KMFDM is a total “Greatest Hits” style band for me. I only have the singles any more and those only get trotted out rarely. If I picked up a full album it would be UAIOE, the strange mix between Germans, Zappa lyrics and Reggae is a trip. Also I remember liking about half of Nihil and BLEEP.
Hey just wanted to say guys that I’m sorry for dissing on Raymond Watts in the beginning of this thread. I’ll leave my posts up for posterity and to preserve the discussion but my comments were unwarranted and ignorant.

Remember I am still a growing little boy (girl).

you shouldn’t be sorry for having an opinion :).[/reply]
No but I should be sorry for having an UNINFORMED opinion and spouting it rudely at the start of a thread. Debby Downer.
To be fair I still think having his fans help him to this degree is embarrassing. As a modern artist I would think he should be more savvy about this stuff and do it himself or at least keep it under wraps more from the fans so they don’t feel like he’s a beggar and they’re helping him so directly so he makes more music.
That’s just how it initially came across to me…
And I am annoyed by them bringing the kid into the mix. It all seemed very transparent and hand to mouth. To me artists should be more Wizard of Oz. You take away the curtain and things go a bit sour…
But beyond that I was incredibly rude and I don’t know shit about his music clearly so I can’t talk shit. I mean if he’s in league with J.G. Thirwell who the fuck am I to call him a ripoff after hearing all of like 5 PIG tracks…
Plus I shouldn’t shit on someone who’s been there done that and made it as an artist. I respect him for that.
Way I see it about fans contributing. Neubauten did it three times in order to release the last album and a bunch of other stuff (musterhaus series). They wanted to go without a label and started their supporters project (which might even be the funding for the upcoming tours). You paid your sign-in fee, and got a shitload of updates, supporter-exclusive albums, etc. Seemed a little pricy, which was I was I couldn’t do it, but it worked. The fans would mostly buy the new stuff anyway, so why not put a sort of down payment? It’s a very different idea, but it seemed to have worked well for neubauten.
My problem though with Pig, is that Raymond’s not exactly the most motivated. So if he tried to do what neubauten did, he would have to bust ass and actually give people their money’s worth. In that sense, i’m a little skeptical of donating any. I’d feel pretty foolish if I donated ten bucks, and he just decides to stop working and fuck off again, like he’s done quite a few times.

by the tone of his interviews i understand he feels rejected/abandoned/marginalized by the record companies and the music industry. not everyone can be a “go getter” full of motivation. that’s just raymond. i’d rather him be himself then to pretend to be full of motivation with no real passion and put out a shitty record like most other 80’s/early 90’s industrial bands these days.
I guess we’ll just be getting an album, track by track, dollar by dollar? Guess i’ll get it now. But that cursed Blixa Bargeld just released something…
