PHOENIXSPECTACLE: A Wax Trax! Retrospectacle Tribute 6/18/11

how was it?

how was it?

I’d speculate that it was pretty good if he hasn’t logged on to tell us about it yet. [:)]
Late,
grmpysmrf

… or it’s still going on.

But I prefer Carmangary’s suggestion.

Well, I sorta lamented the wedding, but it was really a good time. The music did pretty much bad tho, DJ’s at weddings are shit.

I’m awaiting the recorded footage from 1002 tho…

…just got bailed out of the pokey (ok, not really)

The Wax Trax party was a blast last night. A slideshow of Wax Trax album art, press kit photos, and Chicago/Retrospectacle photos played on a big screen inside to a soundtrack of WT music, and outside we ran videos of our trip, live footage from Retro, music videos (Envoye, Tainted Love, and Geburt Einer Nation seemed to be popular favorites), and YGDSOB. Around 9:30 we performed our live set, which went very well. We did get audio and video captured, so I will be working on that this week. Today was a relaxation day. I really didn’t drink a whole lot last night, so I made up for it today in the pool. It felt good performing those songs live, and we definitely want to do this again down the road (maybe New Year’s?), and add many more songs that we just didn’t have time to finish. Set list from last night:

All Day
We Shall Cleanse The World
Masterhit
Apathy
Don’t Stand In Line
Mambo Witch
Halloween
Headhunter
Attack Ships On Fire

1002

So, Tenoh, did you get any ladies to be dancers for the evening?

Sadly, no Wax Chix, I’m afraid you’ll have nothing to look at but two dudes! I’m working on the video tonight and will hopefully have clips online either tonight or in the next day or so. I will also provide download links for the audio, in-case anyone deems this stuff any good! [;)] Considering the lack of rehearsal time we ultimately had, the performance went very well. I did get distracted during Don’t Stand In Line and skipped over a line in the first verse (hey, I could just copy the 2nd verse over!), and there was the occasional guitar/bass hiccup, but overall I was very happy.

The video looks good, but is sort of this constant, almost annoying kaleidoscope of colors. We had just been shipped an LED light setup, but didn’t have time to program presets, so we just let it react to the music all night. Our sound man had a blackout footswitch, but I think he forgot to use it! I’m nitpicking already, but anyway, clips will be up very very soon. The show has a pretty cool intro, and there’s a lyrical easter egg in one of the songs.
