Hatred may get bumped as a result, but the sample work is already done on it. So, if time permits, we’ll still do some LIG.
We’re definitely going to record the audio direct to our multitrack recorder, so there will be a good stereo recording. We’re also shooting 1080p video with my digital camera (same one I used at Retrospectacle). The sound won’t be as good from the camera, so hopefully it’ll be easy enough to sync up with the multitrack audio afterwards. I’ll probably take some photos and shoot a few short videos of the party before and after we play.
Rehearsals are getting exciting. We ran through All Day several times, plus Apathy, Provision, Mambo Witch, and Attack Ships over the holiday weekend. They all sound good, but All Day really came out well. I put two weeks into that sequence just to get it close to sounding like the 12" version. I can’t wait to perform these songs for the crowd.
Looking forward to seeing/hearing this when it’s up. You’ve done great work preparing the event, postering and whatnot, so I hope it all goes well for you. Would be wonderful to be there.
awesome and ambitious, sounds great dude! keep up the hard work, sounds like everyone will have fun, looking forward to seeing and hearing the results, all the best.
Thanks Sean. In my mind, it’s going to be an epic night, but I think I tend to aggrandize these parties for my friends. It’s a bad habit, but I always like doing a little extra when hosting get-togethers.This one’s weird, in a sense that I’m looking at it as this monster Wax Trax party that I’d always wanted to have, but a lot of people there are not gonna be familiar with the music and what it’s all about. Strange thing, a lot of my friends DO know these bands, and they’re so into other music, it’s just bizarre to be able to talk to someone in my group about Click Click or Laibach casually. It’s cool, but weird.
There won’t be much of visual thing for the set, we’re performing in the living room of our friend’s house. Still, I’m bringing along the strobe light, I predict that thing comes on for Attack Ships! When this party is over, I’ll probably have this Wax Trax insanity out of my system, and finally be able to finish that freaking long-overdue Corrugation album, which is threatening to reach Chinese Democracy status soon if we don’t wrap that fucker up soon.
I’ll definitely put whatever I can online the next day or day after, and I am still looking into a possible webcast that night, if we can manage it.
Thanks! Sheez, time has flown, we’re just gonna have it together by Saturday. My last couple of weeks at work have been pretty vicious, turning into late days and staying up late to work on songs. We’re probably going to drop 2-3 songs from the set - they’re just not ready (or even started):
Provision
Go To Hell
Hatred (this one could still make it)
I still need to figure out if we’re gonna webcast (I’ll post info if we do), but if we don’t, the live set will be recorded and filmed.
We rehearsed Don’t Stand In Line last night, and tripped a breaker! It’s definitely a fun, easy jam. Kinda weird to play and hear the Pailhead/1000 Homo DJs songs live, since I’ve only heard them one way the past 23 years. That’s one thing I loved about the LORAH and Mind tours - getting live versions of “Man Should Surrender” and “No Bunny”. What a shame that Al didn’t dust off some of the other side project material for the last tour (not to beat a dead horse).
If we don’t get to the LIG song tomorrow night, I’ll record a demo for the board (may do that for a few of the songs, actually).
Serving dogs, sausages, deep dish and cheese fries at the party, made the Costco run last night! Videos are done, and I’m assembling the slideshow this evening (and hopefully finishing one more song). I bought an LED light system to give our set a little visual life, and you know I’m going all red for Attack Ships! [;)]
Would honestly rather be at that party then the wedding I’m off too. Not that I don’t like the people at the wedding - I do, but the music is gonna suck ass there. =/

This is the thing I fear most about the next 10 years, the inevitable wedding season.
Nevermind global financial meltdown, global climate meltdown, and joblessness
It’s shit wedding music.
I will have to do my best as best man for my brother’s wedding to ensure decent tunes.

Dude, I got the perfect solution to all that. Just be unlikeable and don’t have any friends. Works for me. I get to stay at home and listen to whatever I want whenever I feel like it.
I did best man duties for my homie about 5 years ago. Everything went great, my speech/toast totally kicked ass and I got major props for it. And I had a blast dancing with some old ladies at the reception.
The maid-of-honor had the nerve to tell me I “had absolutely no rhythm”. I thought she was a rude bitch and I was drinking a bit so I proceeded to rave to my dudes about what an ugly hag she was and how she just said that to be mean because she was pissed that my toast kicked ass and hers was totally lame. Of course she was just about 10 feet away at the time, getting something out of one of the changing rooms or something. She heard everything, of course and ran off crying to the rest of the bridesmaids who all agreed that I was a piece of crap.
