Miller was clearly the US’s MVP though. I stand by that!

Towards the middle-end of the 2nd, the US team weren’t fucking around. They upped the pressure enough to tie up. Especially when there was only 24 seconds in the 3rd. I wouldn’t call that sloppy, or anything bad. That’s the way they should’ve played from beginning to end. And I wouldn’t call them cocky either. Canada might as well be hockey-country. USA was probably caught off guard, and eventually found their footing.
In OT though, I think they were more worried about getting the quick net, rather than defense, and that I think is what screwed and finished them off.

Anyone who says otherwise is an idiot. And just looking at him after canada got that final goal…I felt for him.

Yeah, but it wasn’t constant and that was the problem with the US’s whole effort today, and in all honesty that first goal was a bitch goal, it deflected off of Loango’s arm. He was in front of the puck it just lucked it’s way in!
Especially when there was only 24 seconds in the 3rd.
Yeah, see, that’s weak! where was that fire on the 2 power plays they had? Had they played with that fire when they always had the extra attacker they could’ve afforded to be all lackadaisical for the better part of the game like the were tonight.
That’s the way they should’ve played from beginning to end.
inarguably, but could be it could be argued that because they didn’t made it made their game sloppy

I think they went back to automatic pilot which is why they got scored on. Admittedly they had a few nicer looks in OT but for the most part their level of play dropped back
to sub par.

Scoring and bringing the game into OT in the last few seconds, weak? I don’t think you. You’re also saying they weren’t constant. This is so far from the truth. From the second period onward (like I said already) they started sticking it to canada. Canada’s defense was top notch and straight up didn’t want to let them in. And with the defense canada had, I don’t think it’s fair to call those goals “luck”. They fought and busted their asses to get that offensive.
The shots may barely have gone in, but they DID go in.
You, my friend, is a communist!
maybe saying the US team was cocky was the wrong choice of word on my part. They were cocksure? is that better? basically what i meant was they went in expecting a easy repeat of the previous time the 2 met this year, and it wasn’t as easy and by the time they got into the swing of things, it was already late in the game. They pulled some sort of voodoo magic and got that game into overtime, and i think, and it’s strickly a personal opinion, that they seemed to think by getting the overtime alone, that it was going to be in their favor. I mean they had already done half of a damn good turnaround.
Canada SHOULD have done better, but then again they played a team where alot of the players were team mates of theirs and knew how they play/how thier minds work.
and hockey had the disney ending when they bought the mighty ducks.
so both us hockey teams got silver handed to them by canada. oh well, we kick ass in like, the extreme game stuff./. ya know where the “rockstars” of the games play. even though they kicked the one guy out for those pics by acting like… a fucking rockstar with that pic of the girl and the metal over his junk. i mean seriously, every 2 seconds it’s “oh those guys from the xgames are like rockstars… they’re hip and cool and give me hotpants… even the ginger one”"

yeah 'cause they didn’t play with that fire when they had that extra attacker AND a goalie, in the earlier power plays

maybe we both have selective memory. I remember the US team spending way more time on Defense than offense, Hell, they could barely get the puck a few feet into their attack zone before it was poked away and they were back on defense. There were big long stretches in each period where the puck got no where near Luongo.

Canada easily had the better defense of the two. I’m sure we could both agree on that. The defense was rough on them from the start, US kept at it and eventually scored - twice. Luck or not, they scored twice. And that second goal was with the extra attacker, wasn’t it? They scraped by, but they didn’t do as horrible as you’re making it out to be imo.

you’re probably right about me making it out worse than it was… I think I was just disappointed. The US just didn’t bring the fire like they needed to. Yeah the second goal was the extra attacker, on a rebound. anyway I think the US sorely under estimated the play of team Canada going in and it was hard for the to readjust once the game started.
anyway, many pointed out they’re a young team. If this group sticks together they could bring some serious hockey in the Olympics to come.

You know, the hard part is not assembling a team. After all, Russia had superb players as did Finland and Sweden, not to mention the US. The hard part is the players finding chemistry with each other on the team. They have what? 1 or 2 games to find this - they have no time to do this or for the coaches to find the best line matches and what not.
Kane and Toews (both from the Blackhawks) play superb hockey together and have some of the best chemistry I have ever seen on the ice, however, when playing for US and Canada respectively, they weren’t fully what they could be.
Same with Jagr. Same with Ovechkin. They take a season or two to find chemistry with their teammates - throwing them into a team and then saying “now, go win” - well, it’s a bit tougher than that.
Having said that though, one of the best finals I have ever seen for any sports tournament. Wow.
