I’m not really sure who this Olbermann guy is, but I like getting different sources of opinions and information and prefer to listen to something that challenges my viewpoints and values instead of affirms them all the time. If Olbermann is some smart and entertaining “liberal”, then that sucks they dropped him. I like to listen to some raging conservative stuff from Fox and then the next day turn on NPR or something and hear a different take from some bleeding heart hippies.
I feel sorry for goons (liberal or conservative, I don’t care) who only listen to people they agree with. What’s the point?

It’s unfair to say that KO was fired. It’s probably also unfair to say the split with MSNBC was amicable.
While I agree with 90% of what KO said on his show, he was probably too acerbic for most Americans. I myself stopped watching him a couple of years ago for that very reason.
I’d venture to guess that this had at least something to do with the NBC/Comcast merger.
MSNBC was the “liberal” news station BECAUSE of Olberman - they sort of based their identity around his show since it was their highest rated.

I don’t particularly like rachel maddow or ed shultz (the shouting in your face guy) because they are petty and make the left look bad ( I would say those 2 are definately standing on the left) but time will tell if they stay I imagine they will be allowed to stay just because their silly and make the left look bad.

Anything is less acerbic than what passes for political commentary on FAUXNews. My point is that most Americans found KO too smug. I don’t count myself among those who do, but in my case it was preaching to the choir. Not that it matters what I think with regards to TV political commentary. To me, it’s a dying medium anyway.
In any case, KO appeals to the far left but put off independents, and those are the voters who make a difference. No KO fans are gonna start voting for Republicans just because he’s not on MSNBC anymore.

Well caustic personality towards authority ill give you that. But it doesn’t surprise me and makes me think more of him as a person because he always has been on the side of the common person and what is right and so standing up to his bosses would just seem par for the course.
I suspect there is more to it than the story suggests simply because olbermann isn’t allowed to talk about it.
I do find it odd that the some big wig said they would be as creative as ever… news doesn’t have to be creative its the news!

Exactly, they spoonfed their audience what they want to hear, blindly praising their own crooked leaders and policies and pointing out the mistakes of the leaders and policies they oppose. Why does anyone even watch the news anymore? There is not an unbiased news channel that I know of?

Keith was great cause he constantly pointed that out and he didn’t have to twist anything to do so the way the talking heads on the right must constantly do. When all you get is mouthful after mouthful of conservative propaganda from fox news and cnn all the way down to my local news stations and paper… olberman was a breath of fresh air and a nice change from the bullshit.
