There are plenty of “moderates” and “free-thinkers”, they just post on the Internet and support Ron Paul.
Why does anyone even watch the news anymore? There is not an unbiased news.
Best thing to do is to take in news from a variety of sources, understand the biases, and read between the lines.
News will always be biased since humans disseminate it, unless you wish news to just be a dispassionate list of a day’s every event.
Until we get rid of the two party system that got us in this mess, I’ll never be optimistic for the future of America.
This completely suggests that republicans=democrats as if they both fucked this place up equally which is not the case.
the era of prosperity was and has always been under democratic control in this country. are Dems perfect? no. Are they narcissists? sure. but so is anyone that feels compelled to go into government. Dem narcissism is generally fueled by a different avenue of self importance.
Where as Repubs it’s all greed for themselves, so they can beat their chest over what they did for themselves.
Dems generally feed their self importance by what they have been able to accomplish for others so they can beat their chest about what a great person they are.
Is this a solid rule set in stone? no. obviously both sides of the isle have members that don’t fit that rule to a tee, but if we are talking generalities, it fits.

Nope, the two party system is lousy. It encourages people to vote the party line. It pushes an “us vs. them” mentality. It leaves very little room for compromise. You can go ahead and think one party is evil and the other one is great, but the other side is thinking the exact same thing about you and yours.

What’s the alternative? Ya think Parliament is better?
I think we’ve got to make do with what we’ve got at the moment. One party will extinct itself and a new one will take its place. it’s been that way all the way through out our history (When was the last time someone voted for a whig?). I don’t think one party is great and the other is evil but one clearly benefits the plight of the average person more than the other, and the republicans ain’t it. by saying they both suck is dishonest and honestly, a bit of intellectual laziness.

The “party” system is ridiculous in itself, don’t try to stand and say it is relevant when it is anything but…
God forbid the concept is abolished entirely and you have to weigh in on the issues. It’s basically a running game on whose cheerleaders screams the loudest. Granted, you still have to schmooze with the right people, but if the name is BOLD and CAPITALIZED enough it’s as far as it needs to go to gain your attention.
While I am a sole proponent of the three-party system (for now, since it is a step forward), I would at least like for the concept to gain traction to the point where it makes a difference…then again I live in a fantasy world?

why?

who doesn’t weigh in on the issues? I just find myself mostly standing on the left side of the isle (actually I really think it’s the middle but the whole country is so damn conservative it just seems left)I don’t wait to see what “my team” (If you wanna call it that) tells me to think I’m no ditto head that’s reserved for Rush and his crowd.

unfortunately the loudest screamers don’t always make the most sense.

I guess I’m not following here… how does a three party system fix things? you could argue that we have that right now with the appearance of the tea party. things got worse.

What’s the alternative?
Multi-party system.

I’m not necessarily saying that other countries have better governments, so you won’t have to tell me to “go live in Germany if you love them so much” or something like that. But having more than two parties would make it much more difficult for one party to get a majority vote, so they would have to negotiate and compromise with others.

Technically we have a multiparty system… green party, indepepndent part, etc etc…
I’m not necessarily saying that other countries have better governments,
I wasn’t saying you were, I was just asking.
so you won’t have to tell me to “go live in Germany if you love them so much” or something like that.
I wouldn’t stoop to that I’m all for fixing what we got rather than running off to another country.

I don’t disagree with this but the parties have to get exposure. when reagen got rid of equal time laws that pretty much screwed any other upstart parties from really being taken seriously.

Excellent. I’m glad we’re in agreement after all.
Excellent. I’m glad we’re in agreement after all.
I have a feeling Many people on the board are probably more aligned with me politically than not but apparently I come off very brash which turns most off… sucks, but I’m working on it. this ended successfully! [:)]
