Did they ever test the inside of the glove for DNA? Specifically the fingers? I mean if he couldnt get the glove on because his hand was too big I would suppose the “real killer’s” DNA should still be on the inside of that glove, right?
Are you asking this because of the 30 for 30 thing that starts on Sat night or just a random question?
Did you see the American Crime Story thing…?
I watched the “American Crime Story” series.
I loved it. It was a wonderful mix of rank cheese and fine highbrow art. Really cool.
Yeah, I begrudgingly watched it and it was actually really good.

Just asking to ask. I didnt watch that star studded mini series and have no knowledge of a new show coming out about it. I have no idea what 30 for 30 is. I was at star trader today at disneyland and for some reason the thought crossed my mind… Why dont they take dna swabs from inside the gloves?
I know there was a dna collection problem at trial but i thought that was based on the blood samples. As far as i know no dna samples were taken from inside the gloves and id suppose there would be sweat or skin cells at the very least maybe even hairs from whoever was wearing them
I do NOT know exactly what methods and technologies were available in the mid-90’s, but I know that DNA evidence was actually a relatively new thing at that point.
It has progressed incredibly.
My guess is that, at that time, while it was probably feasible for them to get DNA identified from actual blood drops/clots it was not easy or possible to just get a swab of sweat or seek out a tiny microscopic skin flake.
[Note: All my knowledge of forensics is based on watching ID Investigation Discovery channel and Law and Order SVU]

Yeah i was thinking they could go back after the fact (now) and test the fibers in the glove for DNA. Dna has a shelf life of like 250,000 years. So theyd be well within the time frame. If its OJ great just proved what everyone knew to be true if its not then they have a solid new lead to follow and fred goldman can get his apology tour started
I kind of remember that somehow the investigators botched the DNA samples that they took so they pretty irrelevant.
Yeah, i do too but from what i remember those botched DNA samples were taken from the blood spots. With the inside of the glove they should be able to take a plethora of samples.

It’s a shame they didn’t have you on the case.[/reply]
Probably not since that dna type tech didnt really exist back then, but it does now which is why i was asking if its been done since. But fuck you for your sarcastic comment. Fuck you very much.

I wasn’t being sarcastic. They really could have used your powers of deduction to work through it all.[/reply]
Of course you weren’t.
This may or may not be related to the original query depending on one’s understanding (or lack thereof) of the legal system, but OJ cannot be retried for those murders. The results of such theoretical testing would indeed be interesting, though.
And maybe we could finally find the REAL murderer.
You could theoretically test it now, but I’d say it was likely beyond the point of contamination at this point. They were famously not very carefully with handling evidence on this case originally, and there’s no telling who’s touched it by this point. Even if it were tested back then, it likely couldn’t have proven anything, unless it happened to be a link in a bigger chain of evidence against someone. There’s all kinds of ways your DNA could theoretically get into a glove - from trying it on in the store to transference from something else like OJ shaking your hand and then putting his hand into the glove. Might be a good data point, but even if you found 1 person’s DNA in the glove, it wouldn’t be a silver bullet.
Remember the “If I Did It” book.?..what a fuckin piece of shit that guy is…
^Yeah, that was really terrible.
And the cover for it was always really classy and subtle too . . . . always obscuring the “if”, like some shitty little 8 year old thinking he can find a loophole with swearing. Hey, OJ, lick my asssssssssssss . . . teroid.

Yeah, that wold be double jeopardy.

Well, since the case is unsolved and still open I would presume the glove is still in an evidence locker. even if they were to pull up 30 different sets of DNA out of the glove wouldn’t that be 30 different leads? Some more credible than others… I’d be interested to see whose DNA is in that glove. I understand why they won’t do it though. Probably a really expensive goose chase.

yeah I thought that book was a shitty attempt at admitting to it. the two mile an hour police chase while he put a gun in his mouth I thought was evidence of his guilt too. I didn’t buy that “i’m sad my ex wife and her boyfriend are dead so I need to kill myself” excuse. I kinda took it as he couldn’t handle having killed two people and the guilt was making him think he should kill himself.
I think it was actually published, as I recall.
But people were almost universally disgusted and I think there was such backlash that stores either didn’t carry it or maybe just held a few copies for inventory away from customers’ faces.
And yes, I remember something about any profits and such being unclaimable by OJ (I kind of think maybe even that it would be seized by the Goldmans as part of the Civil).
Obviously we could just wiki all of this, but I’m too lazy to even bother right now.
It was published and exists…copies on Amazon…what a disgrace…
It’s funny if you look at the amazon link ,the book is called “If I Did It”…but the cover for the book just says in bold letters “I DID IT”…very telling…let’s cut through the bulllshit…
