I’ll bite. I’ve been thinking is for a while, but never bothered to post. I remember sneering at the early work that you posted on here, but I admire the progress you’ve made with time. It’s still not exactly my thing, but you’ve clearly worked hard producing and promoting your work. This video looks really slick, and you should be proud of it. I was surprised that the song itself seems to have veered closer to a mainstream vibe than the last few things you posted, but that’s okay. I also think it’s laudable that you’ve continued to work hard on your craft despite occasional negative feedback or online dickhole comments. That shows you’ve got a thick skin that’s going to serve you well, and you know how to filter out constructive criticism from trolling. Good work. Keep at it.

Thanks I really appreciate that! I think my growth as an artist has been very public on here and I like that this thread documents it step by step.
I have indeed had to develop a thick skin. It was very painful at first all the negativity coming at me. And I think as you say it was always colored by trolling because the themes/content of the work and of my “online persona” seemed to overshadow the work itself in people’s minds.
I think sometimes that’s the sign of a good artist, if it really grabs people, even if they hate it, there’s something there, and that was one of the things that kept me going. I knew I had something even if I was primitive musically.
Regarding “PCP” being more poppy, yeah the Nursing Home stuff has evolved into a very different sound from the more postpunk vibe my solo music has taken. The solo serves as an outlet for ideas that I come up with which won’t work in the band.

Really. The song kept me interested the whole time and I found myself groovin’ and tapping my foot even.
And the video . . . DAMN!!! It’s not just some cheesy gimmicky crap to look weird or shocking. It’s dark, but it actually tells a story and is perfectly produced. It’s better than most “underground” bands do. I remember getting video samplers from extreme metal bands I liked (actual signed artists on labels like Century Media and Nuclear Blast) and always being repulsed at how awful the videos were.
You really came through on that one. You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want (or you can PM it) but I’m just curious how much it cost to do that video project.
Anyway, it was really cool. Very professional. Mad props to you and everyone that worked on this.
And like Grumps said, it’s really incredible to contrast this with the Void we were goofing on 2 years back shocking the world burning flags on the “Mohamed Is a Terrorist” video and wiping poo on his lips for the “Tikky Tikky” video. Everyone has said it, but it is definitely cool to see your growth.
Great work on the song and video, I suspect the strangeness of your solo stuff will be more what I would listen to on my own time, but the Nursing Home material is sounding amazingly accomplished. I really hope you get mainstream attention.
