Finally, another Cocteau Twins fan! And Stripped is one of the catchiest DM songs ever. Good choices.
Finally, another Cocteau Twins fan! And Stripped is one of the catchiest DM songs ever. Good choices.
Whoah, cool! I also use “Cocteau Twins” as an adjective. For example, if music gets a little too hard for me, like heavy metal or too hard punk, I say “I’m a little too Cocteau Twins for this…”
As for your Smiths/Morrissey comment, I also prefer The Smiths. But I’m even worse. I think I only like Meat is Murder, with a few songs from TQID and the first album.
But I suppose I should be writing about MINISTRY in here, so here it goes. I suppose I’m not very Cocteau Twins in saying that I truly love Burning Inside.
In the mid nineties The Cocteau Twins were on constant rotation in my cd player. I’d count Victorialand and Heaven Or Las Vegas as two of the all time greatests albums. Their first album was good too. Very post punk. Brings back alot of good memories.
At the moment I’m listening to:
Ennio Morricone - Crime And Dissonance
Throbbing Gristle - DOA: Third And Final Report
David Bowie - Heathen
Miles Davis - Bitches Brew
Popol Vuh - Nosferatu OST
Axiom Dub - Mysteries Of Creation
Earth - Legacy Of Dissolution
Gang Gang Dance - s/t
Ariel Pink - The Doldrums
Burning Witch - Crippled Lucifer
Khanate - s/t
Swans - The Burning World

Ministry - Land Of Rape And Honey
Zombie Nation - Kernkraft Single & Other random shiz
^I love this electro beat dancey stuff they gots, very good shite.
Simple Minds - Black and White 050505: Track 1, “Stay Visible”, is one the best songs they’ve put out in many, many years. Solid effort.
Cocteau Twins - Lullabies To Violane Vol 1 & 2: I was kicking myself for the past 5 years because I got rid of my Singles Box, but now these songs are once again readily available (minus all the cool single artwork). I guess I’m gonna have to buy The Pink Opaque to get a good quality copy of “Millimillenary”. Love the Twins, definitely one-of-a-kind.

i have always been a hugh morrissey fan. but i think his latest work is horrible. the lyrics are weak and the music is dry. maybe i’m missing something. am i?
yes.
tenohtwo:
I totally agree about the Cocteau Twins. And “The Pink Opaque” is definitely a must have. “The Spangle Maker” is such a masterpiece… I just love how the Twins altered guitar sounds. No matter what they do to guitar sounds, it’s always cool. It never sounds rock-ish. Nobody does that anymore…
Right now I’m listening to LADYTRON, their album “Light and Magic”.
