Oh YEAH!! Big time. Spiderland is in my all time top 10. No questions asked. Also a big fan of a band called Don Callabero. If you like Slint then DEF check out those guys. May be hard to track down their releases tho’. Kinda low key outfit. Give 'em a go.

Some pretty interesting choices there yourself. The Smiths’ 'Strangeways…"! You like that album!!!Man I could get down on my knees and kiss your feet. It is an overlooked gem. What else are you into? What are some of your favourite releases? I always had you pinned as a teen metalhead. Interesting how I never picked up on it.

Do you like any of these bands? : Swans, any Michael Gira projects, Shellac, Wire, Killing Joke, Eno, Young Gods, Nurse With Wound, Sebadoh, Residents…

(Naw, I’m Emo [:P], and I’m 26…)

I like Shellac (or did, anyway, haven’t listened in awhile) Old KJ, Eno (though mostly his work with Bowie, and I love the Passengers album with U2), dig Swans and Nurse With Wound, though I prefer stuff like Whitehouse. Young Gods are okay (“Envoye!”), and so is Wire. Not familiar with Micheal Gira, though I prolly know whatever some of the bands he was in are.
Of course I dig Floyd and shit of that sort, random Peter Gabriel (his work with Genesis was great - “A Lamb Lies Down on Broadway” tripped me out). I don’t know, I like metal but haven’t been listening to much of it lately. I prefer grindy, synthy, industrial kinda shiz. And I’ve been seriously spinnin’ the shit out of Alec Empire vs. Merzbow. Ferreal, dog, shoooo.

Bauhaus and NIN are touring together?! [shocked] I must go.

I guess Strangeways is another album, I’ve been spinning recently. Good stuff. Way better than the Queen is Dead.

What a great album! Are you familiar with Fairport Convention?

Mexican Banda music.

My wife and I got back from 6 days in Puerto Vallarta last week and we still can’t get it out of our system.

I particularly enjoy a certain style of Banda called Duranguese which is really uptempo, has lots of percussion fills and generally uses only woodwinds. Nothing quite like bass tuba to get the juices flowing.

dig Swans and Nurse With Wound, though I prefer stuff like Whitehouse. Young Gods are okay (“Envoye!”), and so is Wire. Not familiar with Micheal Gira, though I prolly know whatever some of the bands he was in are.

Well, he’s the brains behind the Swans, so you dig his stuff, even if you didn’t know it!
As for your other comment, I’m liking the Steeleye Span album ok, but it’s a bit hippie-ish in it’s rock stylings. I know Fairport Convention by reputation only. What do you recommend?

“Liege & Lief” is a good place to start. It’s REALLY folky, so be warned…I’ll put it up on Soulseek next time I switch out my tracks (it’s about every three-four days).
