navorro’s show on maniatv is great. I don’t know… I don’t really have any problems with any members of jane’s… perry’s got a yoko (no not cause she’s asian)kinda wife though (was a dancer on a jane’s tour, blink an eye and she’s singing in his next band)
Nothing’s Shocking is a decent record. Can’t be arsed with anything else they’ve done.
As for NIN…the sooner they crawl away and leave us all in peace the better.
If this show goes to Red Rocks, I’m going to finally make the trip I’ve been promising myself for the last 5 years.
yeah i think he’s gonna pulnother 5 year pre-production which i thinkin needs again rigow this two albums ayearthing made them lose alot of the creativity that was in albums like the fragle (reallsomeone thought that one was shit really? even the first disk come on give it another chance) bet they come back so much stronger
I’ve given the Fragile a whole lot of chances and never like it. I’ve even tried to trim it down to just my favorite tracks but even then I get bored. Too many tracks that just go nowhere.
Think he tried to make up for lost time and ended up wearijg himself out in the process. He’s given us a lot in the last few years, so i wouldn’t mind another long hiatus.

I think The Fragile would have been much better as a single album. Take maybe 1 or 2 songs from the right side and squeeze 'em onto the left side and get rid of songs like ‘No, You Dont’. I still listen to the left side every so often. ‘Just Like You Imagined’ is a great song and the live version on Fragility was cool.
I agree, it should’ve been a single disc, Reznor did the 2 disc release to make up for the long ass gap between TDS and what would be The Fragile. Didnt he want to make the second disc an all instrumental? yeah he should’ve done that. I like the Fragile its not as good as it should be but it kicks ass.
Also destructo were you drinking?[cool]
I recently rediscovered The Fragile on vinyl. I also could never get into this album, although back when it was first released I would listen to it often simply due to the fact that it was extremely well produced.
On vinyl it seems to get another level, since the concept is imperfection and the vinyl sound contributes to that.
There are definitely some good ideas bumping into each other on The Fragile - trouble is, none of those ideas seem to hang around long enough for the album to succeed as a whole. It doesn’t seem very cohesive. The lyrics waffle on about pain and loss and confusion but never really feel genuine, almost as if he’s penned them as an afterthought. As for the music - well, it works to a point but I get the feeling that there’s nothing there that hasn’t been done before…and better.
The Downward Spiral was much more successful at weaving together those themes. It was much more urgent and convincing. But even now, looking back on it after all these years, it seems rather trite and ‘teenage-y’, if you know what I mean. I think it means well and occasionally hits the right note (or the right nerve) but the effect kinda wears off after a few listens and leaves you feeling bored, which is the worst crime an album like that can commit. Not like say…Land Of Rape And Honey which grabs the listener by the throat from the get go and dares them - just DARES them - to hit the STOP button. And of course you DON’T dare - like the aftermath of a nasty car accident that you just can help but watch from a safe distance.
Not sure if it’s fair to compare the two but there you go.

I love ‘No You Don’t’.

That’s actually one of my FEW least favorites of nin. Can’t think of too many, but if I had to make a list, that would be on there. Just sounds forced, and something that shouldn’t have been released period, or at least maybe as a b-side. Never heard a live version, but it could work that way. Kinda ruins the flow for me. That, and Starfuckers Inc. I like Starfuckers, but again, it sort of hurts the flow of the album for me, especially when you have Please and Complications before and after (two fucking awesome tracks), the three don’t go well together.
i liked the way the “Right” disc was so different from track to track. i also added the new flesh and 10 miles hight there, along with appendage and a live ending to starfuckers, some of it was a bit hard to do (crossfades and stuff), but it works.
but as some of you said, i got really bored of nin, i don’t know why. now i find nin’s best releases are broken and fixed. broken is short and fixed - fixed is great. it’s cool that reznor leaked alot of cool shit himself - like the dvd version of closure and broken movie, and recently those hd videos.
I’d rank NIN’s catalaogue as follows, in order of preference: (not inclu. live albums)
- The Downward Spiral
- Broken
- Pretty Hate Machine
- Further Down The Spiral
- Fixed
- The Fragile
- Still
- With Teeth
- Year Zero
- Ghosts
- Things Falling Apart
- The Slip
Never got round to buying Year Zero Remixed; only heard a few tracks from it, sounded ok.

The remix for YZ was so-so. If I had to rank them, i’d say:
- The Fragile
- The Downward Spiral
- Pretty Hate Machine
- Still
- Year Zero
- Ghosts
- Slip
- Broken
- With Teeth
The remix albums are always hit or miss with me, but my favorite would probably be Things Falling Apart. Fixed was probably my least favorite…
