not surprised.
Where did you get that idea? NINis far from over. It’s prolly just going to be that hiatus that nin is known for. I highly doubt anything is finished.

Trent’s too smart to pull an Al. He knows when to give it up. Trent and the band still look and sound great, and by letting it go after the last shows in '09, he’s gonna leave a great looking corpse. That being said, there is no chance Trent will move to the beach and drink fruity cocktails all day. He’ll probably score movies, games, and release solo material.
I have a strong suspicion that Bonarroo will be the farewell show going from early morning to sun up. If so, I’m there on mushrooms.
he is pretty vague about it on his website. NIN is to “disappear for a while”, whatever that means. At the same time, I believe he’s been hinting at NIN coming to an end for a while now in interviews.
Fair enough, I think I wouldn’t mind Trent calling it quits with NIN. As enjoyable as some of the newer stuff is, I think its enough. I could live without another Slip or Year Zero.
I hope Trent will not leave music though, perhaps now is the time for him to use his production talents for other bands.
I don’t read anything in there there that makes me believe that NIN is done with. “We’re going to disappear for a while” doesn’t mean too much and, within the context of the post, seems to have more to do with live shows than it does recorded material.
What I found most interesting in that is the prospect of a Trent co-produced Jane’s Addiction album. Really? I hope it gets polished and released, good or bad it’s going to be interesting.
I think he just meant hiatus. And it seems like he’s working with Jane’s Addiction, which is fucking awesome. A new album by them would make my day.
This is more of a “quits for now” as opposed to a “quits for good” kind of thing methinks. I agree he should halt NIN for a while as over the last few years there was too many releases. Not necessarily a bad thing having several releases in a short time but it does mean less time and effort go into the individual albums. ‘The Slip’, ‘Year Zero’ and ‘With Teeth’ are not in the same league as the albums between '89 - '99. The best thing they did this decade was ‘Still’. NIN is an act though that could experiment a good deal if they so wished. After ‘Still’ I thought Trent would go down the mellow ambient route which would have been great (‘Ghosts’ I suppose sort of fits that bill… but not really.) I would be very surprised if we never saw another NIN album again.
The work with Jane’s Addiction sounds fucking cool. I can’t wait for that. If they are going to play together I will travel to another country if needs be to see that (this will require me beating up old ladies for money as my ass is broke.)

“For awhile” and “over” are two different things. He’s been touring and putting out albums pretty much non-stop for the last 5 years or so. I imagine he’s just going to take an extended vacation (at least insofar as NIN is concerned).
No biggie…NIN was the most over-hyped pish around.
^ Oh please! And you were touting that fucking Mersault pussy bullshit a few weeks ago! Are we really to believe you think Mersault is better than Nine Inch Nails. That is just fucking stupid.
From reading that the impression I get is that trent is gonna do a tour with janes and then probably record or do some sort of work on their next cd, which would in itself prevent a nin new record if trent were to devote himself 100% to the project.
besides eric is back with jane’s which in itself is the greatest news… anybody hear his last solo cd “help wanted” definately some songs had a joy devision feel… and it had a guest spot from mrs shirley manson (that manson name just is like 3 steps behind trent always)
another coincidence Jane’s just played at ephoplex last night
besides it’ll give technology a little bit of time to advance so if he does go out on tour again he can top the last one, which i mean, it’ll be a damn tough thing to do.
i wonder if trent will ever get back to finishing the year zero storyline… or is it gonna be like bowie with his outside storyline…
trent’s sober. he knows he can do whatever he wants.

Stupid? NIN music was over hyped and dull. All these folk who moaned how Trent was a genius all had one thing in common…a shit record collection.
Meursault has released a debut record that quite simply kicks ass over anything Trent ever pooped out. And Meursault are a Folky Electronic band that doesn’t even try and sound scary or emo to the max like NIN.
If you want to live in a dream world where NIN is important, tuff sounding or cutting edge you’re free to. I live in the real world though…where good music doesn’t have a logo as a title and mediocrity as its content.

CD’s are for pussies. I’ll give a list of 10 vinyl[cool] Although you can hunt them down on cd or download them if you’re up for some unadulterated coolness.
wow i actually have or have heard a bunch of those… Good choice with mr tobin. You into wagonchrist at all?
BAD BLOOD.
FUCK YEAH.
The Slits are awesome, good choice. Have you heard the “Revenge of the Killer Slits” Ep? Slits Tradition is a damn fine track.
Good call on Panda Bear and Eno.
But The Rezillos?
The Rezillos?
I fucking hate the Rezillos.
Hmmm…
And you like alot of dub. Used to have a bit of dub m’self but got rid of most of it over the years. I used to quite like Bill Laswell and Scorn, mostly cos they played with Zorn in Painkiller.
