NIN is back..

I thought it was lacking too, until I listened to it more and in greater depth. What surprises me now, is how there are really solid pop structures that are buried in the mix.

For me the album is very much “ghost music”, i.e. music that you have to listen closely to to get the depth, otherwise it sounds very background. More than anything it reminds me of Eno’s “Another Green World” in that sense.

That’s funny you ask about “the screaming sounds’s” from the becoming i sampled that myself 10 years ago on a song then listened to TDS years after and recognized that part. It’s from Hellraiser 2 i sampled it straight (no effects) and it sounds like chris did the same, so if you watch it you’ll hear it.

As far asTDSsee Charlie clouser he IS credited and you get a feel for his style through his many remixes, work with white zombie (all electronics) etc. I’m in no way saying trent does’nt know his way around a cpu, justchris is far more than just ‘the assistant’ he;s credited for. This new band sounds interesting but, I think it’s time trent brought back the entire ‘classic’ line-up (Chris,Robin,Charlie,Danny) or make a record where they contribute (deja vu sorry if i wrote this before) since he’s doing that with his last limp line up. Can you imagine a nin record with heavy input from charlie and danny’s heavy guitar?

The Wilturn show has finally been released (After All Is Said and Done) from a tiny little dot. It’s out in several formats and resolutions via torrent or can be viewed via YouTube.

a tiny little dot.

caught my eye
it was just about too small to see
but I watched it way to long
it was pulling me down.
I was up above it
Now I’m down in it

I tried to listen to the new How to Destroy Angels album last night, but it was so incredibly boring and samey that it was turned of pretty fast. Lyrically i’m sick to death of him repeating the same phrases over and over and over again and musically it’s just more of the same plodding bollocks. NIN was my favourite band for years, i was so excited when they were going to release something new, nowadays it pains me to hear the lazy piss Trent cranks out, it’s just boring, dull nothingness.

I think the main problem with the new HTDA album is that it tries too hard not to sound like an NIN album. At this point, that’s all he pretty much knows. He’sonly been at it for almost 30 years.

I think HTDA and his soundtracks are more Coil-esque with a NIN flare. I still love NIN to this day. If John Balance, Al Jourgensen and Martin Gore all had a baby together, it would be Trent Reznor.

Just read that Eric Avery has already quit the band…that didn’t take long…

They did.
It was.

And the baby was more relevant, prolific, and talented.

BOOM!

I don’t even know who John Balance is. I just like the image of Al crapping out a baby Reznor.

Just read that Eric Avery has already quit the band…that didn’t take long…

Well shit… They didn’t reach the gate and he already jumps off. Back to obscurity he does then.

I’d love to know why he left. Just like I’d love to know what the beef is between him and Perry Farrell outside of Perry getting the majority of the band’s earnings.

Looks like he hit a fork in the road:

John Balance was the founding member of Coil along with Peter Christopherson. Their first release was also entitled “How To Destroy Angels.”

So it’s over being tired. Still wanna know what the beef is between him and Farrell.

BOOM!

Surely,you jest…

They just didn’t get along, I think. By the time they recorded Ritual, they were writing and recording separately. Eric and Dave in one camp, Perry in another, while Perkins went back and forth between them. They even split on tour buses. I used to think it was the drug habits in the band that was responsible for what happened. Now, I’m not so sure.

Eric refused to return for years until they got that godlike award. Then he and Perry got into it again, this time with Dave included. And he apparently wrote some stuff about Perry and Dave which wasn’t taken lightly, hence the song End to the Lies. Which I’m fairly certain is about Avery.

I remember when Trent was supposed to be producing a new Jane’s Addiction album but it fell through due to Avery and Farrell “butting heads”.

I guess he wound up having to play referee and psychologist rather than producer due to the band bickering so much: http://www.nme.com/news/janes-addiction/44152

I didn’t give a shit at the time because I never liked JA.

robin fink is back in the lineup.
