New Vegas

Anyone playing this? Pretty fucking sweet if you ask me. Wayne Newton doing the news? How could you ever beat that?

Playing it on hardcore mode atm…its kicking my ass

I haven’t got the balls to even try that, heh.

I’ll pick this up pretty soon as I have really enjoyed Fall Out 3 and Bethesda’s other Elder Scrolls games.

I hear all versions of this are really fucking buggy. I’m gonna play it eventually anyway.

Maybe i’m just lucky. I haven’t had any problems yet. Not the first i’ve heard though.

The commercials look pretty bad ass. but I’m pretty sure it’s a 1 player, So I won’t be playing this cause my wife insists on playing 360games with me.
Late,
grmpysmrf

I’m enjoying it.

Mine should be arriving in the mail this week.
I don’t usually play games when they first come out, because a year from now most of the bugs will be ironed out and the price will drop $30, but I love the Fallout series too much.

Soon to enter Vegas. Should be a trip.

the bugginess of bethestda and obsidian games is almost endearing. the soundtrack isn’t nearly as good. waiting for someone to update the music mods, there was one for fallout 3 that had 6+ hours of 50’s era music and commercials. new vegas has, what, 6 songs? sometime they’re even back to back. buh.

it’s glorious.

All I know is I only finished like five quests on hardcore mode and I only put in 13 hours. Yeah I’m a wanderer. Hah!

The one to really blame on the bugginess is Bethesda for making that buggy engine. All Obsidian did was just use that same engine and build from that.

On a side-note. Was at bestbuy and saw the first two fallout games on PC for 10 a pop. I was tempted. Not sure what I would expect though. I started with Fallout 3.

Fallout 1 & 2 are awesome games, both lead to many sleepless nights during high school for me. Slow paced, very well written role players. Its the open ended nature of the games and the atmosphere that make them so compelling. The character creation is very in depth as well, and the traits you choose to concentrate on have huge implications for your options throughout the games. I would highly recommend you get those if you have a lot of time to spend on games.

I personally haven’t tried Fallout 3 onwards, but will at some point, probably when I finally get a 360.

1 & 2 are set in the same universe as 3 (obviously), but are completely different play experiences. They’re excellent games, but if you’re expecting another FPS you’ll be disappointed. For $10, give Fallout 1 a try and see what you think, though. If you like it, get 2.

Fallout Tactics kinda sucked, I’d skip that one…

I can afford the 10, no problem. Just worried that I’ll be disappointed by just how different the gameplay is compared to 3 and Vegas. I might just go scoop both up before work.

If it’s the Fallout world you’re invested in, rather than just the first-person thing, you’ll like 'em.

I like the world, so maybe. But what kind of gameplay is it though? Point and click? Saw some videos on youtube earlier, looked like it.

And I might restart my New Vegas… Who knew Speech would help so much? I did Guns, Science, and Repair for my Skills. I should’ve leveled my Speech up instead.

It’s top down turn based point and click, but it also has a lot of familiar elements like the PIP Boy for your menus and the VATS targeting system (which you can use to hit crotches and eyes, a feature I miss in Fallout 3).

So I just started playing - did nobody else notice the RevCo reference right there in the opening cinematic?
