What no April Fool’s page this year? Hmmm…curious.
This Year’s April Fool’s Day Joke:
“With the four of us scattered across the world, this seemed a great opportunity to let our fans worldwide participate in something special. Tomorrow, in Sydney, London, New York, and Los Angeles, at 11 AM local time in each city, one of us will be on hand to play the album for the first 500 fans to arrive at the venue. No questions, no autographs, no cameras, no cellphones - just the music. We’re sorry for the short notice, but we wanted to try to keep the media out and our diehard fans in.”
The venues listed at the bottom of the press release are Space (Sydney), The Mean Fiddler (London), Irving Plaza (NY), The Avalon (LA). --Kabir
the first single “vicarious” appears to be on the usual torrent sites for those interested.
or i found this link online for those who prefer a direct download. no idea how long it will be active: URL: http://www.prongs.org/mp3/links/?url=38
Cool, thanks for the hook-up. I have to say, I’m a little disappointed…this sounds exactly like Lateralus to me, which is surprising - there has yet to be a Tool album that resembled the one before it, and I’ve always celebrated that fact. But Lateralus was my least favorite (even so, it’s like Ministry - even their “worst” is still great to me), and I suppose I had expected them to move on from that sound. Believe me, I’ll be first in line to buy this new one, but if this Vicarious tune is the first single, maybe it’ll inspire me to dig out my copies of Opiate, Undertow, Aenima, and Salival. It’s hard to go wrong there!
yes, this track is good but i agree.
this is sort of “the grudge v2” with some sections resembling “schism”.
it would be okay but this one is not spacey/trippy like the sound that lateralus album had.
i wonder what the rest of the album is like.
My thoughts exactly, “Lateralus” pt. 2. Not bad, but with so many “Tool-esque” bands around these days I kinda thought they’d do something to show everyone up. However, this is just one track, and who knows how the rest of the album sounds. Hopefully this is just a building block in a greater experience.
Not bad, although I agree with what the people above me said. What I do like about the track is that it seems a bit more direct and heavier than anything they did before (especially towards the end).
BTW, a bit off topic. Does anybody remember the band Last Crack? I always thought Tool ripped them off a little bit and once again, the riff of this new song sounds very 'Last-Crackish"…
Has anyone heard the rumours that there is an apparent album ‘leak’ scheduled for April 25th??
Would like to know who started that and how accurate it is. Question is…why not just wait another week and buy the damn thing if yr such an avid ‘fan’?
I can understand an album leaking three months before the release date, but 1 week…?
That’s just… strange. But then again, it is Tool. I mean look… The new single leaked only what…? 2 or 3 days before it released? It seems the way of Tool leaks… I mean… Look at Lateralus… It was kept nice and tucked away from the 'Net till like a week before the first show/record release party, and even then it was only like the first half of the album that leaked (or select tracks from the album or something like that)… So yeah, it seems strange, but it also seems to be par for the course nowadays.
Peace!

In case you haven’t heard, 10,000 Days has leaked already. I found a copy at Megaupload here:
URL: http://www.prongs.org/mp3/links/?url=39
It’s in m4a format, though. Don’t blame me, I didn’t upload it! By tonight it’ll probably be all over your favorite torrent pages in other formats.
HOLY SHIT! DOES ANYONE HAVE IT IN MP3 FORMAT YET???
fuck I NEED this.
Is it on yousendit yet???
Anyone have a link…?
SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!! I need LINKS!
[shocked]
Demonoid now has it, and in .mp3 format, too:

Just started listening, so it’ll take a few spins before I have an opinion to post.
1002
My Tool is leaking as we speak.
I will record it and post a link to keep the die hard Peligro fans happy.
I’m going to resist this…as much as I want to hear it like nothing else I can ever remember.
A friend of mine has the download however- says that it doesn’t really blow you away the first time, but by the third or fourth listen…WHOAH!!
So:
Apparently Vicarious is the most Toolish song on the album, Jambi and Rosetta stoned are ‘unbelievably weird, even for Tool’ and that The Pot will either have you dancing around the room like a monkey or crying in disbelief at its sheer ‘funkiness’.
Unfortunately (uh oh) there are supposedly a few ‘dud’ tracks like Intension (apparently goes nowhere fast) and Viginti Tres, the instrumental time waster which alot fans are complaining about.
Still, I’m holding steady…keeping composed.
[cool]
instrumental time wasters, eh?
tool do this heaps, but i always saw them as one of the few bands that could get away with it, simply as they don’t make it sound like they’re playing to kill time… whereas, metallica’s st anger DID
anyhow, i thought the new song was pretty good. i know it seems like a strange or finnicky thing to say, but did anyone find the song to be radio friendly? it had the odd time signatures and wasn’t poppy by any standards, but i find it to be radio friendly in the same way the first half of the song AEnema was… i think ‘catchy’ is the best word, being in a major key helps i spose [laugh]
i liked 10000 days… surprisingly good stuff.
yes it’s lateralus all over again but then again they’ve said it will be.
mrsjay and al should learn from these guys. they’ve kept it all until two weeks before the release.
rio grande leaked two whole months before the release.
houses leaked month before.
mrsjay, learn, instead of bitching about “bootleg copies” and “assholes” who upload the stuff.
learn, instead of bitching about “bootleg copies” and “assholes” who upload the stuff.
Word!
Don’t send out promos!
If you do, just do it a week or two in advance.
sigh.
I was hoping they’d go back to being more accesible again.
If I want to hear 12 minute songs in 8 different bizarre time signatures, I’ll pull out an old Rush tape. At least they always remembered to put in a hook or two.
