New Skinny Puppy Tour

Word!

That’s a good lineup. I’ll definitely hit the NYC show. Possibly be the opening act as well if I can swing it.

I’ll be hitting the 2nd leg, too. I recommend others who are remotely interested to attend. It is a wonderful show. Plus, I’ve never been to the buckhead theatre in Atlanta.

No Ohio dates. [:(]

Jannus is actually in St. Pete. Purchased my ticket today.

Yeah,cool outdoor venue…always liked seeing shows there…

I’m pulling for ya, but Joey Blush even tried to be their opener last leg and the payola they expect must be a buttload, because he balked at it (he didn’t say).

Plus it’s already three openers.

Dig it.

Really? Even when it was the Roxy?

hm, i have been there. i just wasn’t sure of what’s it called now. i’ve been here in atl since 98. i came twice to atl when i lived in memphis for lola 1 and lola 2. i’ve seen parliament fuckadelic there and a few others. i still wish i could have caught the tiny CURE show there.

if you go, let me know. i’ll buy you a beer.

Planning on it. Seen Skinny Puppy and VNV Nation many times, but never together. Can’t recall if I’ve seen Haujobb or not. Not quite sure who Youth Code is…

Wowzers. Vagina Nation and Haujobb… think I’ll pass. Althought there will probably be tons of chicks there to see Vagina Nation… just might go.

Oh wait, they decided to completely pass on TX. That’s a first.

I’m probably gonna sit this one out.

Not quite sure who Youth Code is…

One of the better more recent bands. Definitely worth checking out. I’ve seen all 4 before and will likely try to hit Atlanta. Haven’t been disappointed by any of the 4 of them live.

VNV Nation sucks, but I will still probably go.

Pretty much why I don’t wanna go.^

Interesting to note the few folks already saying they aren’t going to go because of the openers. I think these kinds of “package tours” tend to hurt Puppy more than they actually benefit the people who open for them.

Skinny Puppy’s made enough of a name for themselves that they could very feasibly tour with no opening band at all. Or just with some kind of other related media, like DJs or film screenings or something.

It’s their decision, I guess, and that’s cool if they feel they’re being supportive of other artists. But I think they’d be better off playing up their ability to cross genre boundaries rather than headlining more purely electro-industrial bills.

Again so soon? Awesome. I’ll be there. The last time here in Portland was fantastic.

The opening band is never a deal breaker for me. If I know they suck then I’ll just show up late, but usually I try to show up to hear openers and give them the benefit of the doubt… it’s hard to open for a band; often the room is hostile (I’m thinking of Laika and the Cosmonauts on the Filth Pig tour, but in general). If an opener sucks (Left Spine Down opening for OhGr) then I just kind of tune out and wait. Sometimes the openers can be surprisingly good though.

On the other side of the coin, I’ve gone to see openers for bands I don’t care for and then left after the opening set (the Scratch Acid reunion tour opened for Dinosaur Junior, with a live touring interview with Henry Rollins before Dinosaur Junior went on… we left as soon as Scratch Acid finished).

As far as opening bands go for skinny puppy, IMO anything is better than Otto Von Schirach.

Nope. Payola is key - that’s why Werewolf Grave or whatever that guy was played a few years back.
