they should fight!
just kidding. (and yes I wrote out "JUST KIDDING cause “J/K” is for 7th grade girls and I just recently found out I’m not one of them!)
SO, 2 revco threads in 1 night , if you couldn’t tell I’m listening to YGDSOAB (CD not VHS/DVD)
I’m trying to pinpoint the difference between the new and the old and aside from the old being slower in BPM (Which I’ve mentioned before) I think the emphasis is on Drums and bass with crazy keyboard effects with the guitar and vocals taking a very minimalist part.
Where as new REVCO is very Guitar driven (or Keys made to sound like a guitar) and every song has a story with their lyrics (or as peligro says about other music “lyrics spelled out for you”)
yes Old REVCO has a few songs with regular lyrical structure but I’d say there were more odd birds than regular birds.
Old REVCO: drum, Bass, and synth heavy.
New REVCO: vocal, guitar, and keys heavy.
Not even the same recipe
So, Yeah, I’m in a pondering and sharing mood tonight. Who am I kidding? I’m always in a sharing mood!

Don’t get me wrong I like 'em both too. But one is clearly NOT REVCO. I’d say NEWCO is closer, in sound recipe, to KMFDM.
I was kinda pondering the differences in style. not really trashing one or the other
Late,

anyway, i like how old revco just had inane, random weird lyrics in their. ‘suck it and see?’ salute me? a hundred thousand vagabond insects? that sort of inanity is cool.
now it has just gotten utterly banal. and yeah, i miss that bass. the bass was the fun part of revco.
old revco- hypnotically repetitive.
new revco- annoyingly repetitive
Me too.
But I do prefer old RevCo, thanks largely to the aforementioned bass sound (which was all Paul) and lyrical superiority (most of the time - Chris’s were great, but Phildo’s lyrics weren’t all that, and Luc’s were clearly written by a Belgian).
The transitional RevCo of Cocked & Loaded has the benefits of neither band.
I think “Linger Ficking” isn’t as good as many feel it is and I think “Cocked & Loaded” isn’t as bad as many feel it is. The last album, however, I listened to twice and never care to hear again. I think we should have a thread to cum (get it?) up with the most retarded sex based song titles and send the best to Al, Sin and Josh for use in the third Cocks album.
Here are a few to get started:
Leonardo DiSeXXXio
Cum Dumpster of Luv
Dirty Sanchez’s Special Treat
Excuse me Miss but your Dildo’s up my Ass
Ass-Fire
Cock-Fire
Cunt Fire
Tip the Stipper 'brah! Right on!
The Revolting Cocks albums have gotten progressively worse with the latest incarnation not being comparable to the old material. It is a new band, a new sound, and not Revolting Cocks. They can call themselves the Revolting Cocks, but they aren’t.
I might add: ‘Ring Sting Magnifique’ (‘In And Out Like A Fiddler’s Elbow’ mix) or ‘Micky Slappin’ (‘I Love You But My Hand Is Up Your Sister’ mix)
regarding Old Revco v. New Revco, the distinction I would make is everything up to Linger Fickin’ is ‘The Revolting Cocks’ everything after is ‘Revco’. Says it all… I think.
Big Sexy Land beats the entire line up as far as I am concerned.
Big Sexy Land was probably the 1st Wax Trax release I bought on vinyl back in 1987, and it still holds up today imo. YGDSOAB is my favorite album overall though especially the duet of Al, and Chris on You Often Forget. Oddly I never much got into BS&Q, and Linger Ficken Good other than a few tracks. I just don’t listen to them as much.
I just think of the new stuff as Revco, a completely different band. Which of course it is.
I agree. Al keeps saying he’s going to keep it going “like an industrial Menudo,” but he’s going to have to another group of suckers in order to do it, and I’m not sure the brand name can take any further dilution.
BTW, the suggestive names in this thread are funnier than any of the official stuff. Al should hire Prongs.org to write the next RevCo record.
Old RevCo was, at times, almost trance music, with the repetitive rhythms and basslines (No Devotion, Get Down), and they were able to create memorable, albeit simple melodies without trying so hard to cram in a bunch of hooks (especially in the choruses). “Cleanse”, “38”, “Attack Ships” - these songs succeed without really ever going anywhere, melody-wise. Usually a bass line drops out, and a sample kicks in, but there are no big guitar passages (and I’m generalizing a bit).
New Revco is more in-your-face with the generic rock structures and flamboyant song titles and lyrics. It’s techno glam-rock. Older RevCo was never this obvious with their material.
I blame the strip/dance club success of Do Ya Think I’m Sexy for carving this path.
[reply]Old Revco slower in BPM, emphasis is on Drums and bass

This is why old Revco was good in parts and new Revco is complete and utter pish in all parts.[/reply]
New RevCo is indeed complete and utter pish. Have you heard the NEW new track? Totally unlistenable. Forget them and forget their absentee-landlord Jourgensen.
It’s a pile of crap, organized in a crap manner and craply managed.
