Buy the vinyl from cleorecs.com or their Ebay store, and receive it in a couple of weeks. No digital download.
Buy the vinyl from bandcamp and get it sometime in September with a digital copy immediately.
Buy the digital copy from bandcamp.
(also looks like a CD release isn’t happening)
dang it. i would really like a CD. I guess I’ll buy the vinyl. This setlist is just too perfect. If i can’t get the CD, i have to get a digital download. i don’t think i’m going t o order just yet. but yes, i must have this.
when you guy’s stuff start showing up let us know what’s up. if you don’t mind.
What is the significance of “Necronomicon”? Is that the name of the venue, or is it just something they came up with?
The Necronomicon is a grimoire in H.P. Lovecraft’s stories that contains instructions on how to summon the Old Ones – you know, Ctlhuhu, Shub-Niggurath, Azathoth, etc.
Lovecraft invented it by supposedly stringing together the Greek words for “dead”, “law”, and “image”, but he bungled it, much like how the name of its supposed author, Abdul Alhazred, is not a grammatically correct Arabic name.
Mine showed up today. Vinyl sounds great. Most of the artwork incorporates photos of the original master tape and track sheets. The labels duplicate the tape spindles, so each record sort of looks like a reel to reel. Pretty neat concept.
Overall, another awesome vault release. Can’t wait for the next one.
i did it guys. i did the bandcamp purchase so i could get the digital downloads. They’re supposed[ to be in the 400-500 of the series (the end) of the pressing. When I was checking out, i noticed the toronto show is still selling. therefore, i’m thinking they will release the CD on the “release date”, and maybe no more vinyl. hell, i dunno. just a thought. what do you guys think?
side note. guys, love chatting about these archives with you. this past weekend i pulled out the ICYDFLSU video, and as well as I thought i know that music on that record, chris is practically not heard. i suppose i just thought i he was always on there.
edit: heck, i’m downloading it now - already have access. I’ll load it on my iphone and spin it at work tomorrow.

No clue on how many copies they ended up pressing for Toronto 1986. It’s not as popular as this new one, so it’s probably just taking a bit longer to sell.
Don’t know about the CD. It seems more and more everything is just vinyl & digital.
I need to rewatch the video version. It’s been several years. While they’re at it, they can put out the full version of that as well. One can only hope.
This is a great fucking record.
I cranked this shit up in my house last night.
Highly recommended.
Glad I bought it.
There’s an urgency and vibe going on in this performance/recording that just isn’t in in their later shows. Al’s guitar riffs are “on” and are great, his vocals are solid. Reiflin is a great fucking drummer. The guy doing the pailhead vocals does a great job. I’m going to spin it more today (saturday).
A nice companion to the ICYDFLSU “ep”, this. Really cool to hear the live versions of the Pailhead tracks - too bad the Lard tracks are kinda spoiled by Jello being off-key throughout, especially on “The Power Of Lard”; guess his stage monitoring sucked or something. Nice renditions of the LORAH tracks. I would prefer some new material, but this is still a nice while-we-are-waiting-for-the-new-album release. [:)]
Mine just showed up today. I’m really excited to listen to this.
On a side note, the packaging they shipped the vinyl in was really sturdy. Very professionally done. Which is sometime one cannot say about the current Nine Inch Nails releases. Like others I ordered the Fragile “Deviations” (instrumental) vinyl and it was very poorly packaged and arrived damaged. It was expensive and so was the S/H charge. This Cleopatra release was reasonably priced and so was the S/H.
My bandcamp order arrived about two weeks ago. This was probably mentioned earlier, but it looks like they’re shipping the limited white vinyl run ahead of the general release this September.
A note for the audiophile-minded: the bandcamp downloads are available in FLAC format, with the audio playback in 16-bit/96khz or 24-bit/96khz. I’m not sure why it varies by track, probably something to do with the source audio. Anyways, this is a great addition to my small vinyl collection.
From what I understand, the white vinyl release was always going to be a limited run, I didn’t think it would have shipped this far ahead of the general release date. There will likely be a CD release around the same time as the mass-produced black vinyl version.
My copy of deviations is still at my parents. I’m hoping it doesn’t have any shipping damage.
Yeah… good luck. It looks like lots of people got damaged copies. The packaging was really woefully inadequate. I was annoyed because it was just so avoidable; if they hadn’t cheaped-out on packaging it would have been fine. The Necronomicon packaging was the polar opposite: really solid. Like you’ve said a couple of times, Cleopatra really seems to be doing it right these days, from worthwhile releases, good quality physical copies, right down to the shipping. I would not have expected this from them a couple of years ago. It seems like they’ve turned a corner.
Deviations is an interesting listen, some of it works really well, but some of the songs are not as compelling without vocals.
Doesn’t look like they added any of the tracks cut from the vinyl release. Ah well, it’s still nice that they’re putting a CD version out.
I checked their website and they’re now selling a black vinyl version, as well as a Peter Hook/Ministry split 12" single “Dancing Madly Backwards” with the Peter Hook performance on the A Side and Ministry on the B side. It’s an old Captain Beyond song, but probably a new Ministry cover and not a vault one.
