NEW PAUL BARKER LP?!

This record is worth a listen for sure, the Ogre track is decent, the Taylor Momsen thing is good but in a bad way, the Psalm 69 remix sucks cock, but all in all the record is good - even USSA. It won’t light the world on fire, but give it a chance.

Can I get one signed by Gerda?

I still say he didn’t pick the best entries from the Psalm 69 contest. And I’m not even referring to my own shit here.

The album is now available without the DVD if anyone’s interested.

I’m interested in the DVD without the album. Hopefully they’ll do that at some stage and knock a tenner off the price?!

Edit : Some other amazon sellers are selling it for less than $20 now.

Hmm, most of those samples don’t sound too good. Will still have to give it a try though.

The bundle is not bad value in my opinion, but the international shipping charge is a bit nasty.

And I’d say it will be made available as a single dvd soon enough, or at least in second hand.

I can’t download off amazon until I get a VPN hooked up and I don’t know if by that point I’ll be interested in this still. Kind of blows my mind that Paul did an album that includes Ogre and Chris and the best anyone here has to say about it is “It’s not so bad!” and from the samples and two tracks I’ve heard that seems to be about the best there is to say about it. Kind of sad.

Yep…the magic’s gone.

It’s a new prongs frontier. It’s called the post-Barker era. We’ve become so cynical and our standards so high not even the big man can get a break.

They paid their dues 25 years ago. This project isn’t supposed to be a “band” anyway. It’s just some guys doing guest vocals on Paul Barker’s new stuff.

Besides, I think it’s great. Surely I’m not the only one, right?

I enjoyed the tracks I’ve heard. I haven’t gotten this yet, because I don’t care for Amazon’s MP3 service. I’ll wait til I have the CD/DVD.

I got the CD/DVD today. The “cover art” is not included anywhere in the actual release. Also, no track list or credits. Weird.

I haven’t heard it yet, but I’ll report back here when I do.

mine shipped yesterday.
Late,

i really liked the track with ogre. can’t wait to hear it with good sound quality. the cover…is pretty bad though. what’s with the ministry camp and shitty covers recently? although paul has always had shitty artwork.

i can’t even bring myself to give the new “ministry” record a chance. 99% was just too embarrassing.

Diggin the track with Connelly, has more edge and layers of experimentation than anything Ministry has done since 04.

Probably wise.
I think the highest opinions on this board have been along the lines of “Well, some of this stuff isn’t TOO bad…”

hey guys, been away from this forum too long!

only came across the album when i saw the ad in spotify.
giving it a listen now, i just wish Al J went down this route with Ministry albums after DSOTS

No love for Animositisomnia? Shame on you.

Got it today and spinning it now. It is more rewarding than the samples might indicate; there’s at least a handful of decent tracks. The Connelly tracks are fairly “different”, in that it doesn’t have much of a Barker feel to them but they’re fairly interesting, particularly the first one. Puscifer remix is good. The Ogre song is decent too. The first song with Momsen, the tune itself is ok but the vocals are a complete miscalculation and irrevocably ruin the song. When I heard the Self Inflicted Blight song I thought to myself “what is a Nursing Home song doing on this album?” as it sounds more Void’s crew than it does Barker. The Psampled song I think is better received if you don’t treat it as a remix of Psalm 69, it has some nice touches regardless. The Kinart song has sort of an afterthought feel about it but its grand nonetheless.

Haven’t watched the movie yet, maybe tonight. Also the deal that advertises the bonus poster is balls as there’s another poster inside the case, so you get 2 posters. And they’re not great by any means (they’re fold out)

I think the Taylor Momsen song kicks ass.
I’ve played Fix This!!! way more than I’ve played Relapse, that’s for sure.
