NEW PAUL BARKER LP?!

the fix ministry facebook page just stated the following

“FIX - THE MINISTRY MOVIE If you miss the Ministry from the 90’s… get ready for the new Paul Barker lp coming March 25th.”

Man, that would be nice! Something to vill in the void for Relapse probably.

sounds hopeful!

Title would be nice… but whatev!
Late,
grmpysmrf

Barker Barker Barker . . . I love his work WITH Al and even his side projects (namely Lead Into Gold) during the same time, but I really can’t be bothered to give a crap about any of his stuff since (Pink Anvil, USSA, Flowering Blight, whatever . . .).

I wish him the best and think he’s a swell fella, but I ain’t gonna pretend that his musical output over the last 10 years has done anything but bore me.

Just became the most anticipated release of the year. Wonder if it’s mostly a solo or if he’s got some guests on there.

You really didn’t like Flowering Blight?
Pink Anvil was clearly just him and Brody screwing around, and USSA was just OK, bt that kinda boggles the mind. That record was kinda like all the ingredients that were missing from the last three Ministry albums.

spot on.

You really didn’t like Flowering Blight?

No, I didn’t. Truth be told I only heard whatever sample tracks I could find on YouTube (I haven’t actually purchased ANY of the releases that I’ve alluded to). But I found it to be quite boring. That isn’t to say that there weren’t interesting ASPECTS to it, but as a whole it just doesn’t do anything for me.

See . . . . THIS I actually agree with. Those interesting aspects of his work are exactly what I think add texture and intrigue to the Ministry albums. I love the dark atmospheric stuff that his presence adds to releases like “Dark Side” and “Filth Pig” and so forth.

But a “missing ingredient” doesn’t necessarily make for a great meal. It might be a decent cut of steak (I find the post-Barker Ministry work to be just that . . . decent) on its own, but its certainly going to feel as something is missing until I put some salt and pepper on it, or some steak sauce. And that’s Paul. He’s the A-1 Steak Sauce. Totally awesome and a great flavoring, but I ain’t gonna drink it straight from the bottle.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

It’s amazing that there are idiots on this site still on Paul’s nutsack.

A single album he’s done in the last few years easily beat the last 3.5 albums. Nothing to do with ass-kissing of you genuinely believe one’s better than the other.

Just saying.

sigh

I am low and slow

Flowering Blight

Lead Into Gold

Flowering Blight was great but the common complaint I hear is Paul’s vocals, which I agree are not common and are definitely a preferred taste. That said, I still enjoyed the album for what it was. The Perfect Pair is such a great song, so are the FB versions of the USSA songs.

for those who haven’t heard any Flowering Blight.

personally, i really like barkers voice. sick track.

Has there been any verification other than the fb announcement? Is Gerda still knocking around here?

It seems fairly sudden but if it is true then bring it on. It may not be album of the year but at least we’re guaranteed some interesting ingredients. I really enjoyed the Flowering Blight album when it came out but could recognise it wasn’t amazing or the best thing he’s ever done. March 25th is not that long away

Gerda hasn’t surfaced for a few months. I think she’s working hard on her book. I hope she comes back. I miss her enlightened input and valuable insight.

I didn’t mind his voice. Kind of reminded me of ogre (2000-onward) but not really. I’m pretty open minded to vocalists though (perry farrell, corgan, etc). If it’s not Geddy Lee or Mercury, it’s possible to be tolerable. But I hope it’s another flowering blight.

Even if Gerda were still posting here she wouldn’t have any useful info.
We’d say “Hey, is it true that Paul’s putting out a new record in March?” and she’d say “Well, I can tell you The Tall One and I had dinner with Roger French the other night and I mean THE ROGER FRENCH and you’re all too busy sucking up to Republicans to even know who I’m talking about. How old are you?”
