New Pantera

HAHAHA! Now i want a re-recording of “walk” with Fran on vocals, in the exact same nasal, droning style of the Nanny.

I didn’t have much of an opinion on this cuz I’m not a huge Pantera fan…and while it does feel like a money grab, like McSwine says,it’s just music…but ultimately if we get some Prong memes out of it then I am ok with it😁

If I cared about Pantera I’d be stoked.
Everything is a money grab, so who cares?
The people that get all emotionally agitated about it really crack me up. I mean, I actually understand anger at stuff like “Misfits” without Glenn Danzig or the “Dead Kennedys” continuing to tour without Jello because there actually IS a confusion as to what you may be getting into (especially when the acts are promoted with vintage era imagery making it look like the original bands).

But is anyone so out of touch that they think Jim Morrison will be singing the Doors show or Freddie Mercury will be fronting for Queen? Dimebag has been dead for 18 years. If the remaining bones of the band want to carry on, why does it matter?

It’s funny that they chose Zakk as guitarist. He’s the perfect fit, which was also the least desirable part for me. Dime and Zakk were always my least favorite guitarists ever. I just find them completely unlistenable.

Yeah I can understand musicians need to go out and make a living…that being said, you aren’t gonna catch me at a DK show if Jello isn’t there…just not gonna happen…depends on the band for me…I certainly don’t begrudge former members going out and making a buck… some of these revisionist acts get a little ridiculous though when they are out touring and there are literally no original members…god damn ya gotta have at least one original member!

I was never a fan, so I don’t really care. But doing this without either of the brothers is like David Lee Roth and Michael Anthony going on tour as Van Halen. Just doesn’t seem right.

Are they both just wearing one shirt?

HAHA! It does appear so.
If you haven’t seen the video, I recommend it highly. The dude next to Phil is drummer Johnny Kelly (Type O Negative, Danzig, and presently Quiet Riot). At the end of the show, he clearly knows Phil is going off the rails and you can see him trying to gently move Phil off the stage, but then Phil does his Sieg Heil and White Power shouts and you can see Johnny die inside, haha!

I was actually gonna mention this…Johnny Kelly is one of the nicest dudes I’ve ever met and he didn’t deserve to be caught up in that nonsense hahaha…that look on his face,oh man…

He really Is. I’ve met him several times. He’s always super chill and gracious to everyone. And I think we can all sympathize with him in that video because we’ve all either had that friend (or been that friend) that we need to remove from a place or situation before it gets 1000 times worse. Poor Johnny did his best, haha!

I like how John holds up Phil’s other arm as a way of masking his salute. Too bad they weren’t wearing one shirt like they were conjoined twins. That would make a nice sitcom where one of them is racist and the other one isn’t.
