In case folk missed it…
pantera sucks.
we don’t see many nazis up here in canada. serious question, as a brown guy, do you think i would have a problem going to one of those nazi pantera concert down south?
^
Perhaps.
I mean, I live in California, one of the most liberal, open-minded, and tolerant states of the nation. And yet I had to witness this crap in abundance. And this was at a large festival that they happened to be part of. I can only imagine if it was a venue with them as the only headliner.
Honestly, that show in 2000 or whenever was really rather disturbing to me. I’ve never seen anything like it. At one point I saw a black kid minding his own business making his way to the seats and a number of cowardly goons were yelling taunts at him. Had it been just one rogue bastard I’d be inclined to tell him to shove those words back up his ass from which he was talking. But of course I’d have ended up getting stomped by an army of inbreds. I felt ashamed as a metalhead, a white man, and as an American.
I’ve been to so many metal shows and love the celebration of brotherhood and comraderie and the unity shared amongst strangers. But at that 'fest with Pantera . . . I’d never felt more alone.
I finally clicked to watch the video and hear the new song. Wow. What a boring pile of crap. I liked the intro, though, where the dude said, “I’m just another Pantera fan who’s gonna die in the town I grew up in.” I love it! What a beautiful life summary for an army of failures. At least they have no illusion of actually achieving anything. I haven’t read the comments but I bet the retards that got to be in that video are littering every chat room, bulletin board, and high school cafeteria with praise of their great accomplishments . . . . . “No, Dude! For realz, Man!!! If you go to the minute 2 mark you’ll see a shirtless dude marching around and holding a piece of wood and sporting a Pantera tattoo . . . yeah, Man!!! THAT’S ME!!!”
That song is boring and so is the video and all the retards who actually like this crap.

maybe not in Ottawa. we had tons in montreal. we used to host skinhead concerts all the time. got really bad for a while in the late 90’s between the hammer skins vs. the sharps and ara.
think the scene is completely dead now though. or they all grew up.
pantera sucks.
at the risk of sounding like amlux… common, they weren’t that bad.

My position is kind of unpopular amongst most metal circles but the band never connected with me. I honestly do think the early stuff is kind of cool, though. And I don’t hate on Phil Anselmo. I think he’s a pretty cool guy. I really like his voice when he’s doing OTHER stuff. The only time I can listen to Pantera is when they do Black Sabbath covers. They do them so well and Phil’s voice is just lovely with them.
But I never liked Darrell’s style and never liked any of their music. The idiot redneck jackwad fans were just part of the bonus package. I was just kind of ambivalent about Pantera 10 years ago, but after Dimebag was shot I’ve grown to truly despise them (again, you can thank their retarded fans for that).
Every time I see some jackass with a tribute tattoo or T-shirt or some announcement on Facebook for another Dimebag benefit concert (who the heck is that benefitting anyway) I just want to come up with some new kind of poisonous Slim Jim to pass out at all the trailer parks so I can wipe out every one of these stupid cretins.

Aww man. Sorry if this sounds gay but I should give you a hug for that one. Pantera fans are too fuckin angry. Sure I like the music but I agree about the majority of the fans. Plus looking back that Ozzfest sucked. At least second stage did. That was the year nu-metal was at it’s peak. I remember someone yelling faggot at me for wearing a purple velvet shirt and I think some dude was hitting on me for wearing the same shirt. Yeah, that’s not really Ozzfest material clothing but I was into looking rather rock starish back then. I think the shirt got me a hug from the singer of Kittie though.
Did you happen to catch Static-X that year? I missed them watching Soulfly who I thought were great at the time. I also thought Ozzy did a good show for someone who had throat problems at the time.

Depends where. If you’re brown, you wouldn’t look out of place anywhere in Florida, anywhere else you’re gonna get looks…but unless you pick fights all the time, you wouldn’t have an issue.
The most prejudiced territories are the ones that are way out of the way, i.e. in the mountains…like North Georgia.
huh, i’m black and live in oklahoma i saw pantera in '95 and there were plenty of nazis there at one point in the pit i hi fived some guy, there was an actual audible gasp from the people outside the pit, then we both look at each other and i’m black with a biohazard shirt and he’s a white skinhead in a red swastika shirt some magazine snapped a picture of it i heard

Depends on where in Florida…in S Florida yeah nobody would bat an eye…it’s one of the most diverse melting pot’s in the country…but central Florida and the panhandle are completely different worlds…the good old boy network is in full force up there in the bible belt…archaic forces at work…

I’ll just pass out free cups of Black Tooth Grin mixed with Liquid Plummer. I have similar plans for another group involving FAYGO.

Will Turtle Wax be involved?
Certainly not a new release but:
It’s Official: PANTERA’s Surviving Members To Embark On Reunion Tour. Phil, Rex, CHARLIE BENANTE And ZAKK WYLDE
I probably won’t get to see this tour in my neck of the world, but I’m all for this. Some people keep going on about this not being “The real deal”, but screw those folks… It’s just music. Charlie and Zakk will make this good, I’m sure of it.
I’d like to take this opportuniy to pester anyone willing to listen with Zakk’s beautiful november rain-esque rendition of “Suicide Note pt. 1” from Pantera’s The Great Southern Trendkill (a fine album, by the way).
Edit: too bad about this racist shit that kept going on at Pantera gigs in the U.S. I’ve never heard about anything like this happening on their euro gigs…
